I'm not sure this belongs in the thread, but they've also announced the 2015 GP schedule: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/2015-pro-tour-and-grand-prix-schedule-revealed-2014-08-02

I'm absolutely ecstatic that Seattle gets a Legacy Grand Prix! This will almost certainly be the first GP I ever attend!

Something of note, May 30th-31st is listed as to be determined cities in three different continents, all Limited. Calling it now.... Modern Masters 2 events.

Horde Magic Straight from MTG Daily.

The original WoWTCG raid deck, Onyxia's Lair was released in 2006.....
5 years before that article. Horde Magic is a fairly new concept.

Personally, I'd set them aside and work on getting a few more packs to at least do a mini sealed session with a friend.

I value every pack more for limited though than the cards that might be inside though. I'd rather play a game with the packs than crack a pack that will be worth less.

Doubtful I expect the popular eventide dual lands.

I do not, if they are there, then they do not fulfill the need or expectation of this set to fill out a modern format. They are not staples of the format.

You're not an idiot. This product just isn't for you. This product is for people who left and came back. For those who didn't have jobs when those cards were in print and couldn't pick them up. For those who, like me, work crap jobs that make Modern cost prohibitive.

They're changing the art to maintain value of current collections, they've made it draftable, and they're running a GP with it. This should be about as far from Chronicles 2.0 with its impact as anything can be while still being a reprint set. I'm incredibly excited.

EDIT: Also, Fetches won't be in this. They said it stops at the end of Alara block.

Ok, so to a degree, this is supposed to "Fix my life" perfectly because I didn't play basically from post Mercadian Masques through until NPH (with a short stint back during Mirrodin and Darksteel). Except that as I see it, the exorbitant price, combined with limited availability jacking the price up makes it unbuyable.

"Limited" run is bad, it brings us back to expansions pre-3rd edition where pack prices were jacked way up because of demand right out of the gate or limits were put on customers. The price already is jacked up. I have a good paying job, but I'm not going to be buying packs, I might do an event because that's all my LGS will probably be able to support.

We don't need another set in the year, 4 is enough. We especially don't need one that starts at nearly twice the pack price. What we need is wizards to recognize a need to reprint cards that are highly sought after. Print the cards like they did with Life From the Loam in duel decks, only print a larger variety please. SCG wanted to jack the price of that event deck to $30, but availabilty on it means I can still go to my LGS or Walmart and get them for $20. That's a good thing. Print the from the vault series with better cards, we don't need a useless to modern Maze of Ith when Mutavault is clearly the better card to be reprinting and drop the limited run to put the cards in players hands.

The worst thing Forsythe said during the announcement was "We're going to respect the values of people's collections here". Screw that, lets have a near legacy like format and follow the major tenet of "no reserved list". Print the cards, make them available, make this a fun format with a huge card list. Instead we'll now have two art options for buying your goyfs, they'll still be $80 or more.

You can call yourself what you want, but when you're looking for Pernicious Deed for your GB deck, you're not in the target audience for these decks any more.

They've made it clear in deck after deck, that these are meant for new players to have two decks to play against each other. Their goal with these is not simply to sell product -- they do that already -- they want to hook new players, and that doesn't happen when every experienced player out there buys out the store's stock of whatever vs whatever decks, because there's $50 of cards in a $20 package.

Previous From the Vault sets are begging an argument with you. Even this year's wasn't terrible, they finally printed one with a large enough print run, pity the cards were only worth the MSRP (but at least they were worth the MSRP). Graveborn was a success too I think, there were plenty of fun cards with some value to them in it and the Cabal Therapy's and Entomb make the MSRP of the deck. No one is hoping for full playsets of cards, we're hoping for reprints that will make the cards cheaper and more accessible and they've made an effort toward that, particularly with commander and planechase 2.

I agree with everything said here but one thing... if people are being charged more for this event, the shop is for some hurt. The shop ALSO asumed this was the. Best thing since sliced bread and that the cotents were of vault. I could see shops that charged more than they should have seeing some VERY upset people on thier hands.

Shops shouldn't be charging more. They were supposed to be giving away the contents of the helvault without charging more. What they were supposed to do is possibly do early registration so they didn't receive too many players in store expecting to get something from the vault and being denied.

Any player that expected anything more than simple promos or only set themselves up for disappointment.
