First Llanowar Elves, now Volcanic Hammer. This guy is just super trolling or his cube meta is out of this world.

I got 33rd at apex. Could've don't better had I practiced but I don't play much anymore. So.. I guess I could've easily done worse as well.

Anybody know any short board/card games? I teach kids and we get like 10 minute breaks.

Kings of Tokyo would be perfect. It's really quick and easy enough for kids but complex enough for older players to be fun. It's a really simple dice game where you compete to destroy tokyo as monsters. It's also really fun : )

The games probably take a little longer than 10 minutes but you could easily lower the win point cap to make the games shorter without changing the game.

I just moved into a house with some of my gaming buddies. Board games are quite a common occurrence around here. 7 Wonders, Arkham Horror, Cards Against Humanity, Carcassonne, etc. I'm thinking about buying Netrunner, but I'd like to try it before investing the money.
    .

Netrunner is pretty fun but it is only 2 players so if you're looking for a group game it wouldn't be that one. It is a really well designed card game though. We actually have a couple Netrunner leagues around where i live. If you ever need any recommendations or thoughts on games, I've played a number. Carcassonne is surprisingly fun for how simple of a game it is.

When I can't get my Magic group together, my friends and I are usually playing board games of various kinds. Ticket to Ride is a popular choice since it's easy to learn and has a surprising amount of variety and strategy. 7 Wonders is a game that I like a lot that you all would probably enjoy; the idea of the game is that you're building one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and the entire game is played in the form of a Magic-style draft.

7 Wonders is a really well designed game. It's all of the fun of drafting without having to play with your deck : ). It's also a fairly fast game and you can go through multiple rounds in a session.

    League here too.

Also, huge fan of boardgames. Has anybody here played Arkham Horror? I just played it for the first time the other day and it was super fun (albeit fairly complicated).

ERMAGERD I love arkham. Have you played the new one? Eldritch Horror? It's pretty amazing. They made some really good changes.

Are we talking board games? I love board games. <3333

They're like my favorite thing ever. Just ordered three yesterday, along with some cards for my Peasant+ Cube!

Nice! Which ones? My friends are a bit board game crazed these days. I think we have about 16 board games that we have to try and rotate through ><

I wanna try settlers of catan...
Project m is a fan mod of brawl to make it fun at high competitive play by making it play much more like a sequel to melee.

Oh nice. That would actually be pretty cool. Settlers is a pretty solid game. Great for both experienced/new players to board gaming.

As far as computer games go, League of Legends mostly with other random console 1 player games like Skyrim thrown in.

My group of friends are big into board games now so we're usually playing Settlers of Catan, Mage Knight, Lord of Waterdeep, Netrunner, etc on any given weekend.

I tried to get into Hearthstone but it just didn't click for some reason.

    What's project M? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

If you dont want stompy, fine. But your manalves will almost never be better than Elvish Spirit Guide, when the cube is balanced around whats played in it.

Remembered another card for powercubes: Skyshroud Elite

No one plays Skyshroud Elite or Nimble Mongoose in powered cubes. You know what they do play? Multiple copies of Elvish Mystic and Jungle Lion. To your credit there is a Wild Dogs in there but no Ghazban Ogre, Rogue Elephant, Nettle Sentinel, Scythe Tiger or Pouncing Jaguar.

This is a link to one of the most popular/respected powered cubes on MTGSalvation.

Of course there are 1 toughness creatures, that are so powerful you still run them. But were talking about a 2/1 cant block creature in a color that offers a lot more cc1 power2 drops, which just happen to be better..

This statement is just far from true. The cc 1 options that you listed aren't better than Jungle Lion. I know it is your choice/opinion to think otherwise but Jungle Lion is better than Ghazban Ogre, Wild Dogs, and Pouncing Jaguar. Wild Dogs and Ghazban Ogre leave you open to pretty big blowouts from taking 1 damage to the face from the spells you mentioned earlier that also kill your Jungle Lion. However, instead of those spells getting rid of your creature...they steal your creature which is MUCH worse for you. Pouncing Jaguar isn't worth 2 mana and it certainly isn't worth 2 turns worth of your mana. Playing it on turn 1 means you probably won't get a turn 2 play unless you happen to draw another 1 drop, which aren't exactly plentiful at pauper.

That being said, none of these cards even come close to being top of the list for Green 1 drops because having a mana elf will almost always give you more powerful plays than attacking for 2 on turn 2.

Its funny how you argue about the blocking, while completely ignoring the toughness. Which is its biggest disadvantage. It reads: Cant attack if opp controls a creature. Cant block anyway.

Basking Rootwalla, Pouncing Jaguar and especially in powered cubes Wild Nacatl is way better. Jungle Lion is the crap.

Edit: Speaking about powered cubes: Nimble Mongoose

The one toughness really doesn't matter, it's a 1 drop. You shouldn't expect all of your 1 drops to be Isamaru, Hound of Konda. Elite Vanguard, Savannah Lions, and Jackal Pup are still respectable 1 drops that see play in cubes of every level and no one is blocking with them (that's simply not what playing 1 drop aggro creatures is for), which effectively makes Jungle Lion the same card but in a different color/rarity.

differentiate a muffin from a cupcake for me.

    Just frosting?

The difference between a pancake and cake. They're the same but you can eat one for breakfast without being called obese.

Flowstone Crusher has always seemed really iffy on paper to me but has continued to impress me every time I draft it.

I agree that the pseudo lifelink 2/2 probably becomes worth consideration above 360. I think the competition for white 2 drops is pretty well stocked atm in 360 tho.

So what do people think about Pharagax Giant? For those who haven't seen the spoiler:

    Pharagax Giant 4R
Tribute 2 (As this creature enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice may place two +1/+1 counters on it.)
When Pharagax Giant enters the battlefield, if tribute wasn't paid, Pharagax Giant deals 5 damage to each opponent.
    3/3

Seems like it's probably in a better place in pauper than Vexing Devil was in standard. It still suffers from the same argument that it's burn when you want a creature and a creature when you want burn but a 5/5 is a huge creature for red decks.

I think at 360 your cube/drafting should be tight enough that people won't need/be tempted to dip into a 3rd color. The only deck that is really going to delve into splashing a 3rd color for removal/draw is going to be green ramp/control and they have much better options than panoramas. I could see maybe putting in panoramas in larger cubes where drafting aggro is probably a lot more difficult.
