The strength of parallax wave comes from how flexible the card is.
You can remove tokens forever.
You can remove 2 or 3 creatures for 3 or 4 turns. This is the best possible tempo play with the card.
Using it on commanders will be great if your opponent decides to put it back in his command zone.
You cans remove all your opponent's blockers for a lethal attack.
Against a creatureless deck such as narset you can remove planeswalker tokens or use it on your own creatures to protect them from wrath of god. It will trigger enter the battlefield effects a second time.
You can trix with qasali pridemage by removing the creatures forever.
This card is clearly insane in the format.

Nov 15, 2016Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)but in my opinion, you have some dead cards in the deck.
Could you please elaborate and give examples? Every card in this list has been heavily tested and is very live in every relevant matchup, but I'm always open to suggestions.
the double white of some cards you play is not an option (Like Brimaz)
Parallax wave is the most broken card of this format. You will play it no matter what. Elspeth, Knight-Errant is really good and does exactly what you want, which means the card is really strong in the deck. From there on, our mana base is built in order to be able to cast WW spells. It turns out Brimaz is one of the best 3 drop this deck can ask for: having 4 in toughness is key for our 3 drops, and it deals damage from multiple sources (through the tokens) which means it's great in matchups that can generate blockers. It's also a great anti-wrath one man (cat?) army. We don't have any BB GG or RR cards, we allow ourselves a few WW drops and Brimaz earned his spot.
I'm missing Falkenrath Aristocrat and some things to gain life (Huntmaster, Sorin, etc.).
Clunky unefficient 4 drops won't help you at all. Aristocrat is incredibly fragile, you will never have creatures to sacrifice to make it indestructible as the mana elves are critical through the entire game. Your opponent will electrolyse it or something, you'll sac a creature then he'll ulcerate it and you'll have lost too many ressources. Huntmaster having only 2 thoughness wouldn't even be in the deck if it was a 3 drop. Not a chance in the world that this card makes the cut, it will simply ruin your early game.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor is in my opinion inferior to Xenagos, the Reveler in this deck. The point of such a card would be to allow yourself to play around damnation effects, and it turns out it's not necessary as a hasty general takes care of most decks trying to cast wrath of god or damnation whithout much trouble.
Any thoughts on Punishing Fire since Grove is being run?
The combo will be really hard to assemble, it's not like we're running intuition loam or something to assemble this, so the dream won't happen much. Punishing fire by itself doesn't kill anything relevant in this format, it doesn't even take care of vial smasher, and getting it back is clunky and inefficient so we have better options as removals.
Anyway we have been team testing this list a lot, so any suggestion are welcome, but we will also dismiss many cards that are either too slow or have already been tested and rejected.
Nov 14, 2016Hi everyone!Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
With Newtrader and a couple friends we played Saskia at the French Commander Cup, and managed to place 5 copies of the deck in the top 13 spots of the tournament (82 players).
Here is our list:
I went 5-2 and finished 13th, loosing only to newtrader (a 100 card exact mirror) and moondust (playing Vial Smasher the Fierce with Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and purely hating the green meta and the 3-4 colors decks, he obliterated me with a magus of the moon that I didn't expect at all).
My wins were against Varolz, the Scar-Striped, Kytheon, Hero of Akros, Titania, Protector of Argoth, Vial Smasher the Fierce & Kraum, Ludevic's Opus and Leovold, Emissary of Trest.
This deck is really strong and defines the format. If you can't beat it please come and join us.
Nov 2, 2016Voltaic brawler I didn't even knew the card existed. Seems incredible, it's in. Dromoka's command as well.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
Domri's rade was great in Marath, but I just checked and I had over 40 creatures in that deck, so you're probably right about it missing too much. Bloodbraid elf is off curve, and I don't want awkward cascades such as path to exile or one of the charms, so it feels like it will miss too much as well.
Nov 1, 2016I've been testing Doran a lot lately: you can find my list herePosted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
I do believe Saskia is a viable way to add red to Doran, the commander is really strong and the 4 colours allows you to play way more untapped green mana sources.
Here is my current decklist.
If anyone has comments or ideas for this decklist, feel free to share, I'm looking to improve it for the French Commander Cup next week.
Oct 12, 2016We're currently allowed to play humility and yawgmoth's bargain, so I'm working on playing the best deck that runs both.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
In the beginning everybody will play aggro decks even though they are trash in 20hp so the best decks will be removal decks such as Narset. And then jace will come back as it prays easily on removal decks, but you just need to wait a little for bad aggro vibe to settle down.
Oct 12, 2016If you're playing an extra time walk you should really try out temporal trespass. It started out as our budget replacement to capture of jingzhou and it turned out to be a staple card in the deck that most often allows you to play jace + time walk in the same turn, and will always cost 3 mana. It's been incredible in the deck for falaakr, newtrader and myself as the 4th time walk.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
Sep 21, 20165 drops are actually nice to curve out the turn after casting selvala. Which is a point for Nissa. And I miss acidic slime and will probably put it back in the deck.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
Also, I think the optimal version of Selvala doesn't play Emrakul, the aeons torn or Ulamog, the ceaseless hunger, because they take up slots while most of the time being bad, casting Emrakul, the promised end is more than enough. Maybe I've become completely insane.
Sep 19, 2016Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)Quote from Bal »Were you one of the Selvala's at MC yesterday Jibux?
Haha, yes that was me, you have narrowed me down to one of 4 people haha! Were you there? What were you playing?
I was also recommended Reverent Hunter as a decent beater that helps mana production with Selvala. Thoughts?
Sep 19, 2016Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)Quote from spastika »Emrakul v2 usually wins on the spot in the lategame if you know what you're doing.
Funny story, yesterday against Narset I went for ulamog ceaseless hunger instead of emrakul V2 because I only counted 12 mana for Emy, but I actually forgot I had no lands in my graveyard and a fetchland in my hand which would have been enough. The eldrazi got countered, but exiling 2 lands did absolutely nothing where mindslaving probably would have won me that game
Otherwise regarding colourless lands everyone is telling me throne of the high city is incredible, yet i feel that it's incredibly clunky and inefficient. I opened one yesterday so whatever i'll try it out, but if a better colourless land has to make it in, it will be cut.
Weird Harvest is also a card that gets me in trouble. If my opponent gets kiki-jiki/pestermite, gilded drake, linvala, palinchrone, duplican, thought-knot seer, all top tier decks besides Narset (jace, titania, jenara, nin) will have incredible options to search for and crush our hopes and dreams we tried so hard to harvest.
Sep 19, 2016I had the opinion that Nissa, Vital Force is trash. You actually convinced me that it's good in Selvala. I still believe it's trash in other decks, but that's not Selvala's players problem, for us it ramps hard.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
The more I play this deck, the more it feels like RG tron in modern. It's an 80/20 deck. Good matchups are 80% in your favour, bad matchups are 20% in your favour. Beating Nin, the pain artist, Jace, vryn's prodigy and Narset, Enlightened Master feels almost impossible. Adding cards like metamorphosis which has a horrible additional cost will weaken these matchups. Also, in Paris, these 3 decks make 30% of the metagame of a tournament, and I haven't tried against Jenara yet but I presume it will be our 4th 20/80 matchup unfortunately.
This makes me want to trie cards like Hall of Gemstone (terrible against jace), Dosan the Falling Leaf, Defense Grid (the worse card of this list), Boseiju, Who Shelters All (for tooth and nail), Gaea's Herald, Asceticism, City of Solitude, Warping Wail (great against damnation, wrath of god, toxic deluge but also phyrexian revoker and aven mindcensor). If I ever add any of these bad cards I'll go all in this strategy and add as many as possible, probably around 5 of them.
Plan A of this deck is to cast a big fat expensive spell around turn 4 and hope it wins the game and plan B is to have eye of ugin live in the lategame and cast at least a big creature spell per turn. Against grindy decks with interaction but no pressure plan B will destroy them, but Nin, Narset, Jenara and Jace are all able to disrupt plan A while killing us before plan B goes live.
I also feel like Gemstone Caverns is necessary, and you should put it back in, because in most matchups having the toss is the only thing that matters and not having the toss is the only way to lose to a deck like titania.
Sep 15, 2016I do believe you're better off by straight up cutting Sheltering Ancient.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
I comboed off infinit turns today. I play high market in addition to homeward path, against control magic effects. But today it was used to sacrifice emrakul that I could then fetch with eye of ugin and cast again in order to have infinite turn. The mana was provided by selvala and Nykthos.
I'm also still playing Mwonvuli Beast Tracker in order to get dreadnougth off of woodland bellower, green sun zenith or summoner's pact.
Sep 14, 2016Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
No it only nets one extra mana. You need to take into account the fact that Selvala by herself is a 2/2 so she already produces 1 mana. Without Sheltering Ancient, you'd already have 4 mana. And the upkeep cost for the Ancient is terrible in most relevant matchups.
Also, wouldn't wastes (the colourless basic) be better than Urborg, now that you play ranger and simulacrum to grab it, while your only non mana producing land is eye of ugin, with no land tutor in the deck? Urborg doesn't even help to cast TKS since it no makes lands produce black mana.
Sep 14, 2016I really really dislike Sheltering Ancient. First of all it only produces 1 mana the turn it come into play with selvala. Second of all its upkeep cost requires your opponent to have a creature in play, and many many current top tier decks have literally near 0 creatures, such as Narset, Maelstrom wanderer or Jace vryn prodigy, nin pain artist... I do not believe you can afford playing such a card, that will make strong matchup stronger, and weak matchups weaker.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
Aug 24, 2016I believe Yisan, the wanderer bard is worth it, as it fetches wirewood symbiote and phyrexian dreadnought. I think you can include lightning greaves and scryb ranger in this deck. I know you said you don't want too many untap effects in order to limit CDA in this deck, but it's not a reason to pass on scryb ranger which is, in the elf ball deck, a key component.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
Also, vengevine, why even bother? This isn't close to be an aggressive deck. You either combo off super quick with a lot of mana, or you go for the eldrazi plan.
Staff needs you to control a creature with at least 5 power to net infinite mana.
You actually need the power to be 6, but not only you go for infinite mana, you also draw your deck and one shot your opponent.
Mwonvuli Beast Tracker gets phyrexian dreadnought, and helps with woodland bellower. But it might be too slow. Sylvan Tutor is also a card.
