Wow, the black around the corners really shows up after being scanned. Oh well. I'm also getting rid of my signature until I can do something a bit more tasteful.
Also, some people PMed me about commissions and such, but I am horrible at checking my PMs (apologies to those who did message me), so I've put a link in my sig for such things for anyone that may be interested.
1) When it is baseless. Wild, random, ill-informed speculation happens every season and it always drowns out to a degree logical, informed speculation. Ignorant posters who just want their poor theory to be heard can choke out, confuse or otherwise disrupt wise speculation. And that's generally pretty harmful. It confuses issues, muddles discussion and generally makes it harder for posters with their heads on straight to puzzle things out together.
2) When unconfirmed speculation becomes so pervasive as to be mistaken for confirmed fact. I think the trouble there is obvious.
This. This. THIS.
I love these forums, because they tend to provide a steady stream of information during rumor season. But I cannot stand opening a thread to find someone's planeswalker that they created based off of a name and what they thought was cool. There are people who are good at taking pieces of information and drawing a valid conclusion from them, and then there are those who want to share their "great" (and baseless) ideas. I am not one of those who belong to the former group, but that's why I don't post much.
So I was just recently introduced to this whole idea of card altering, but I figured I'd toss my two cents in and share my setup, which is to just tape the card down to some paper using that blue painter's tape. This way nothing gets under the card, it doesn't slide around, the tape makes nice neat edges, and it won't tear when you peel it off.
And here are the cards that I've made so far:
Voidmage Husher:
Giant Growth:
Elvish Visionary:
Doom Blade:
Synod Sanctum:
Mind Rot:
Yawgmoth's Bargain:
As you can probably tell, I prefer doing full arts to extending the borders, but unfortunately Wizards' art department does a good job of focusing the art in the space they have, which makes most cards difficult to fill out.
The card is fake because there is not enough room to say 'each creature' on the text box, not to mention that Convertible Turtle is not a card name, but a playtest name.
Guys, please. Listen to this. Even if it just said "Creatures", it should say "Creatures without flying get", not "Creatures without flying gets".
Yeah, I kinda figgered that if the above two things would work, multiples would be teh sex.
Looks like it's time for me to rebuild my B/W deck. Storm Herd, Reverse the Sands, Bargain, and now the Children. Mebbe toss some Proclamations in there. Can you tell I'm a casual player yet?
Anyway, thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.
Hello all. I did some quick searches in the Comprehensive Rules, but I didn't see anything that talked about what paying life actually is.
Does it count as loss of life? So could I pay some large amount of life with Yawgmoth's Bargain, say, and then gain it all back with Children of Korlis?
While I'm at it, if the Children came into play after the loss of life (say I drew into them with said Bargain), would they count all life loss that turn or just since they came into play?
Thanks in advance.
1. Why is being dead such an obstacle to being in the set? Somebody even has a quote in their sig about this. If time is being twisted, a character can be pulled out of their timeline BEFORE they die, neh?
2. Why is everyone ignoring the new lotus comment by Rosewater? I thought he loved to play mind games.
But no, I don't have anything actually constructive to add.
Evermind's rules stuff says its CMC is treated as 0, so stuff should be able to fetch this.
EDIT: Dammit, I always forget that creature bit on Salvaging Station; I'm so used to playing with March of the Machines. But yeah, converted mana cost is zero, so anything looking for it doesn't go nuts when it sees it.
Angel, simply because you can't lose and your opponents can't win is cooler than this 1 life with a creature dumbness.
The bat sketch vote just hurt. I love Chippy to pieces and his background was better but the bats by Kovacs rocked so much more. People will probably vote for the more 'finished' piece again, but come on! Rolling ball of flame! AARGH!
Flavor text is still pretty meh, I liked the winner better from the last one, though. As for this one, it could go either way and I'd be happy.
Brand manager, big whoop. X because it's still one character.
So how would that work with the Rats, then? Once you play the ones you ripple up, are they moved from the deck to the stack, so that you get fresh cards to ripple through?
Also, ripple has got to be one of the coolest keywords to use while talking about it.
Take, for example, Surging Flame. It says when it is played, I get the Ripple effect, right? So if I hit another Surging Flame, I get another ripple effect off of that one too, right?
And how would Thrumming Stone and something like Index work out? How do I decide which effect I get first? I'm leaning toward getting the Ripple first, since it gets stacked second, but I wanna check.
Also, OMGZORZ combo of teh year, Thrumming Stone and Relentless Rats. Assuming you get Ripple off of Ripple'd cards.
This is a question that's been bugging my friend and I for a bit. The thing is, Goblin Sharpshooter untaps whenever a creature goes into a graveyard from play, and Goblin Pyromancer (or any Wrath effect) causes a lot of creatures (including the Sharpshooter) to die at once. I know that with stuff like Beacon of Creation and Blasting Station, you can stack the comes into play triggers of the tokens, and sacrifice them all to the Station, since it'll untap between tokens. However, the Sharpshooter seems to be a different case since it too is going to the graveyard, and by the time the other creatures have gone into the graveyard, it shouldn't be able to untap itself (being dead). Anyway, does anyone know what exactly would happen? I've looked a bit at the Comprehensive Rules, but my fortitude ran out before I found an answer.

But here are some dragons anyway.
Spellbound Dragon
I love this guy so much. I hope I get to swing with this at FNM tomorrow.
Numot, the Devastator
This was a commission for an Elder Dragon Highlander deck. The guy gets it tomorrow, hopefully he likes it.
Intet, the Dreamer
Numot got me thinking about getting into EDH myself, and naturally a pimpin' general is the most important thing.
I think I need to get some kind of white pen or a finer brush for my signatures.
