Okay, I just wanted to give my two cents on the anatomy.
I doodled up a little proportions chart to illustrate some stuff.

Generally, proportions are described in terms of "heads": for example, you see that the man in that link is about 8 heads tall, while the woman is a little under 7. If I recall correctly, that's a pretty tall dude and kind of a short woman.

Now, your angel appears to be 8 heads tall. That is a pretty huge lady, and she is also rail thin: as you can see, her hips are barely two heads wide. I believe men have shoulders about 3 heads across and slightly thinner hips, while women have 2 head shoulders and slightly wider hips.

I was actually rather surprised to see that up until her hips, the proportions were pretty spot on in terms of length. The fact that she's so thin makes everything seem tremendously elongated; right now her width implies that she should be far shorter than she actually is.

I would recommend (probably in the future; you seem to be pretty done with this) to make the legs a bit shorter, and everything wider. Also bellybuttons.

A+ on the wings, though, I really like those.

Thanks; I am far from the best at color matching, but I'm glad to hear that the extended arts look good. I tend to create a digital version of them first, or at least sketch them on the card with pencil (except for 'walkers, as there I have references), so it's nice to know that it pays off.

Been working on my Kamahl EDH deck:

    Beacon of Creation
I have no idea what that thing on the right is supposed to be.

    Garruk Wildspeaker
As usual, the skin tones suck. They're slightly better in person, but still not great.

    Snow-Covered Forest
I saw a thread mention Mouth of Ronom, and I love that card despite never having used it, so now it's in the Kamahl deck.

Hey, this seems like a kind of neat thing.

I had some spare time today, so I did this instead of something productive:

It could use some more work, so I might work on it some more (I will probably not work on it any more).

    Ok then.
i hereby officially announce the theme for the next PnP:
Black&white altered card of your choice.
until the 20th should be enough time.

bigup usually does the PnP stuff, so you can try searching for his username.

EDIT: Oh, you wanted to know what it was. A theme is announced, and then people Paint and Present their takes on it. It usually ends up looking pretty cool when you have a bunch of stuff along the same lines all posted at once.

So it's been a while since I had time to post anything. Here's all the stuff that happened in the meantime (note: the colors on the monitor where I was scanning these in were (I hope) horribly adjusted; Kamahl, for example, had bright orange legs. They look better on my monitor and in person, but now I'm uneasy):

    Cloudstone Curio #2
I do love me some Curios. Maybe I'll make the third one pink.

    Bloodbraid Elf #2
I think this one turned out much better than the first, except the skin tone is a bit dark.

    Whiplash Trap
Someone (Galspanic?) said that we were too good for this.
    He was wrong.
I did this from memory, though, and it's been a while, so I think I'll have to make another.

    Kamahl, Fist of Krosa
My new EDH general. Nothing like beating down with some 10/10 tramply lands.

The next four are part of a trade (hopefully).

    Darksteel Ingot
In retrospect, I should have made the colored stone sphere things much smaller, but I guess it's all right.

    Trinket Mage
Not much to say about this guy.

    Gather Specimens
Not too pleased with this myself, but the two people who've seen these last four liked it the best.

    Tolaria West
My personal favorite of the bunch.

P.S. Just a reminder that I am always open to commissions and/or selling the things on my website. PM me please I AM SO POOR.

Galspanic, I also think it looks great the way it does now.

Here are some of the stuff I did recently. I'm back at school now, and the library is the only place with scanners, so I will use crummy pictures until somebody complains.

    Dimir Signet
    Dimir Aqueduct
The above two are part of a commission. I look forward to never doing another Avon land again; he just works at such a high resolution and leaves a lot of fine lines in his work.

    Bloodbraid Elf
This is just for me, and I really like how it turned out. Thinking about making an entire Jund deck to this tune if I have time.

Those are some great Bloodbraid Elves back there. Are we supposed to vote on them or something? If so, where is blake gets mine.

I would have liked to enter, but I couldn't think of anything. Of course, now I've got an idea...

Because my nickname for BloodBraid ELf is Bubbles...? And Bituminous Blast is Bibbles. Yeah, I'm terrible, I know.
Also, I gotta say that I love that Bounty Hunter. It's all great, but the helmet especially is amazing.
    Anyway, more cards!

    Chandra Nalaar
3 down, 1 to go! (I don't much like Ajani.)

The next two were more just quickies, so I wasn't too careful on them.

    Cloudstone Curio
Get it, because it makes things bounce? Yeeeeaaaah.

    Fallen Angel
I have fond memories of sac'ing rats to these guys. Decided to tip the hat to Anson Maddocks' version, because it's my favorite. I've only got 7th ed ones, and they are pretty terrible.

EDIT: PocketDimension, that's probably a bit more work than I wanted to put into it (I'd actually packed most of my paints up). But it's not a bad idea; I'll keep it in mind if I decide to alter my other Curio.

Nice, a combination of Panic Attack and a worse Early Frost for only 5UU.

I was hoping it would at least have flash. This... is not good.

EDIT: Ugh, I can't get over it. That's Ultimatum mana; I don't think the versatility of kicker makes up for it.

That's funny, the only part of any of these that really appeals to me is Nissa's face. There's something striking about it that isn't found in the other two. I'm also a fan of a slightly looser style of painting, rather than super polished stuff found in the first two.

Also, the first one is really bothering me. She'd get no traction on any of those branches, seeing as she's got her feet practically on the bottom of them. The only thing holding any weight is her left arm.

    Really nice trees, though.

The creative team at Wizards usually has some pretty extensive "style guides" that contain lots of details for the artists to use in their work. It helps create a consistent "world" in the game.

So although I don't know if what you've found has anything to do with the guild leader's specifically, there will definitely be little things related to the guilds of certain colors on their respective lands.

EDIT: Here's the article on the Zendikar creative process, for example. You can see in some of the sketches how there are little notes about armor and such; these are the things that you can expect to see in a variety of cards, and these things will create a kind of unity between the artworks that contain them.

Huh, seems like it might just be you, TFH. I've attached them anyway, though.

And thanks for the kind words, everyone. Just a reminder, though, the tilt-lands are KriggY's idea, not mine.

    Some more stuff!

    Mayael the Anima
I think this was still a bit too difficult for me. I got tired of the flowers very quickly and it shows; I also messed her neck up, along with her right arm. Oh well! Clothes were digitally added, again.

    Forest
Don't think it turned out as nice as the Island or Mountain before it, but these dark Shards lands tend to look pretty neat anyway.

    Jace Beleren
I just got this guy before last Friday's FNM; went straight into my UR deck. Unfortunately the fixative kind of messed up the upper left corner, but nothing else for some reason.

    Can someone help me?
I have an Idea. Smile I want to make a set of basics. But of course not ordinary basics. I dont like ,when i tap a land for mana, the picture rotates 90 degrees to one side so it looks weird. (I hope you understand what I mean). <snip>

You could try having a tree or two coming up at kind of a 45 degree angle from the lower right corner. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

EDIT: This is kind of what I'm thinking of; you might want to curve the top so that it looks less tilted either way and just more like an odd tree.

This is true. From the CompRules, 203.1b:

"If an alternative cost is applied to an unpayable cost, including an effect that allows you to play a spell without paying its mana cost, the alternative cost may be paid."

I believe that when a spell is on the stack, its CMC is whatever the player is playing it for. So if Javelin was played for 2RR, its CMC would be 4 while on the stack.

Let me look this up, though.

EDIT: Not finding anything on it, that may only be applicable to X spells.

EDIT 2: The rules specifically make a exception for X spells, but none for hybrid mana, so I guess it is always the largest possible combination.
