Like CorpT said, if you think its so good and have decided on the cards for it you don't need us to tell you anything. Just build it and take it to FNM and see what happens.
Personally I don't think its that good. Just play B/G or R/G.
As far as I'm concerned there is nothing wrong with giving someone the win or intentionally drawing with someone. It happens very often. If you are happy with where you placed then there is no need to get caught up in what other people are doing.
That has to be my worst as well. It always seems to happen to me at a large event after pile shuffling, drawing seven, mulliganing, pile shuffling, drawing six, happens again.
Hey all, first time posting a deck here so please bear with me. I built this deck the other day and I tested it yesterday against some friends and did well. I was wondering what everyone here thinks of it and what you suggest I change up. Keep in mind I made this strictly with cards I had lying around my house so I know its missing some things that would be obvious inclusions. Also, my thought with this deck is less about abusing Doran's ability and more about playing a Rock style deck with a variety of things to do. Please suggest anything you think might help. Thanks!
Yeah, I pretty much want to put Primeval Titan in every green deck I own. I hope that when he eventually rotates out of standard his price'll come down a bit.
Thanks for chiming in, there's a couple in there that I knew of but didn't think of last night, but there are also several I wasn't even aware of and should keep tucked away for my own future ramp/mana-fixing needs.
Yeah all of the ones I listed and quite a few on your list are in the current Mono-Green deck I run. I completely agree on Primeval Titan btw. He is too good to not include. Even if you are on a budget hes worth saving up or trading to get.
Casual vs Competitive comes down to mindset rather than the decks themselves. Nobody in my group plays outrageously overpowered decks or generals. All of our decks have a little bit of jam to them in terms of competition. You'll sometimes see an Inkmoth Nexus get pumped to 10 power and slam into someone but rather than be the way that player wins every game, we use stuff like that politically.
If one player is getting out of control then you will see another player/players do something a little over powered to threaten them to dial it back. Politics are what rule our games.
My main deck is a Mono-Green Kamahl deck that can often ramp to a turn 4-5 entwined Tooth and Nail getting out a Kozilek/Ulamog. But I won't always just start blowing people up. I'll sit back and threaten to attack and in turn not be messed around with. I can hang back and do my thing building up a field or recovering from the eventual Wrath of God.
What I'm getting at with my rambling is the combos and the cards can be powerful but if the mindset is laid back and relaxed, you can have a casual game.
I was at a Yugioh Regional with a bunch of my friends. After one of them and I scrubbed out we were sitting at an empty table and my friend mentioned he started playing Magic recently and said I should try it. I was skeptical seeing as we had been playing Yugioh competitively since it came out (this was in 2004). I finally caved and played a game with him and got the hang of it by the end. A few games later and I was buying a theme deck from Fifth Dawn and the rest is history. I quit Yugioh for good in late 2005 and have been playing Magic full time ever since.
The game is accessible to everyone so that means that all different kinds of people play Magic. Like others said, I'm sure the percentages of homosexual Magic players are very close those of the general population. I know of a lot of gay men who play Magic in my area.
I usually just buy singles for whatever deck I'm building. If I were to drop $150 on singles for a deck and have everything I need I would rather do that than spend $100 on a box and not get everything I need. If you buy a box you should get some friends together and draft to test limited.
I don't really buy boosters unless I'm going to be drafting with them so this isnt a product I'd be interested in buying but it is a pretty cool concept.
The store I go to is really big. It is actually 3 stores in a shopping center that over time the owner bought and expanded into. So there is plenty of room to allow people to open game. On any given night there are people playing D&D, various card games, Warhammer, drafting, the owner has PCs set up for gaming as well.
As for food and drink they sell drinks and snacks there but they have no problem if you go out and bring back food or even if you have it delievered to the store. The only rule is basically to clean up after yourself.
Personally I don't think its that good. Just play B/G or R/G.
