The End of an Era

I don't get Standard guys. If cards are worse they're gonna be cheaper. Standard shall challenge your deck building abilities with limited number of cards, not netdecking and wallet size.

I enjoyed Eldrazi Spawns before and I feared I would get ditched on this set. But this last batch of stuff shown some nice eldrazi scion spawners. Now instead of getting 3/3 and 3 spawns I can get 3/3 and 3 scions for the same cost which is A LOT better. Plus a 1 drop eldrazi and other stuff. I am happy to buy lots of commons and uncommons and I am thrilled for limited this time again.

EDIT: And nobody really noticed INSTANT RAMPART GROWTH FOR 3 in form of Natural Connection? Shame on you cuz this is bat***** crazy of a card.

Is this the complete Card-List like the ones that come with Fatpacks?

If yes, then can the Person who published this please give us the whole Spoiler!!! Weird

No thanks. I like the slowrolls.

Wasteland Strangler is removal on stick, low-costed, seems effective.

I like how this only requires "processing" one exiled card, not two. Much easier to trigger. One complaint... say it with me now... WHY IS THIS RARE? Please do not tell me "because limited." These effects have almost always been fine on uncommon creatures, and I would think that would be even more the case here, where it can't kill larger creatures and isn't and evasive body either.

Because it's ridiculously swingy effect. Skinrender was played and if exiling stuff gets enough support, this one will too.

Attaching image for the sake of having it here.

I like him. Not sure why, but I do.

Cuz he looks damn amazing, is 5 with haste for 4, can "dash" when controlled right or stick when prefered otherwise. I just wish it had ingest as he is not a drone.

The problem is that we haven't had a single Standard-playable Ally spoiled to date. Veteran Warleader is good-not-great, and other than that we've gotten potatoes.

I bet you can expect a classic 1WW double striker of this block to be an ally. Those used to be almost always played.

I remember MaRo stating that they wanted to save full-art basics for a set that needed something extra to help it sell well, and as a result, I refused to believe that our return to Zendikar would meet that criterion.

With the majority of these other spoilers, it looks like the principle of my skepticism was horribly wrong; this set really needed more oomph unless the later spoilers are bonkers.

Honestly I think you're onto something with that. What we've seen so far is underwhelming in most peoples books I've read, and I've barely formed an opinion on it. It could very well be a conscious move to pump up an unimpressive showing. Like RTR, this has nothing that made zendikar nor rote memorable. More pseudosunburst like this and fifth dawn will seem like something more than a box of serum visions

The people commenting on the trash art hit a point I definitely agree with though, even the recent sets I'd chalk up to poor R&D&D at least had great art direction as a redeeming quality.

The quote from Maro needs to be posted else I call it bonkers cuz I doubt anyone in sane mind would announce such thing. Why not instead make a better set?

All of you naysayers didn't even play with Martial Coup when it was in standard I see.

Martial coup kills all of our opponents creatures, this does not

Thanks for pointing the obvious. Still, that's gonna be few if any creatures most of the time and yet you play what you can not what you once had. I bet 4/4 awakened land will be one of the biggest ones.

Perhaps it will, but the reality is, this is a huge downside to play a removal spell for. Why would I play a removal spell that might not work against a lot of the decks in the format. I'd rather play the more reliable end hostilities and get my win con from somewhere else

You would play it if it would fit the metagame. If not, as you said, you get other sweepers to chose from but this one shines in it's good scenarios.

Bloodgift Demon didn't see ANY play in t2. I really doubt this one will because it's too small and eats you dudes whenever you want it or no. Anyway I like it, seems semi oldchool and I miss the way they made cards those days.

I'm considering the artifact for Tron if it's less than 4. It allows Tron to get rid of a bunch of fish and U doesn't have anything to exile it with other than a counterspell. O-Stone is probably better but it's interesting enough to playtest and will probably see play in budget lists that don't want to shell out $30 per stone.

Herdons on zendikar trap eldrazi. Eldrazi are huge. Hope I didn't blow your hopes on the wind too hard Smile

I dislike the scaling on the art: look at the fish, how tiny they're and how huge this thing is. Yet it's only 1/1.

I really liked the slower Rise of Eldrazi sealed and this one seems to be just like it. Oww man to the prerelease I go.
