Perhaps this benefits everyone as it allows new players to pick up and play the game much easier while allowing experienced players the ability to seek out creative combos that novice players would miss. It may add layers of complexity so that player evolution becomes even more of an adventure.

It would all depend on the strategy of deck you are building. Dual lands would be a must in my mind for most decks, and a mox would not hurt things depending on budget.

Trample has been modified so many times you need a rule book every time somebody plays a trampling effect.

I have seen many great instances of these types of cards on eBay. Anyone with a talent should think about putting their skills to profitable use. There are some awesome artistic renditions out there that sell for two and three times the normal price of the card they mimic.

Tarmogoyf is a card that has seen it's highs and lows in value, and the newer cards that come out these days are not immune to reprint, especially in core sets. A prime example would be Magic 2012 which is running reprints of Gideon Jura from Rise of The Eldrazi and Sorin Markov from Zendikar.

So then it would make sense to, if targeted to exile a card out of your hand, exile an instant, sorcery, or aura card so that the opponent cannot gain control of anything through that interaction.

Congratulations on your graduation. I personally have only played green/black decks on MTGO, so my knowledge of them is limited; however, since it was an elf deck I can say from experience that it kicked butt. Welcome to MTGSalvation.

A most interesting deck idea. I like the proposal of placing basilisk collar in the deck because I have played many times against elf decks where lifelink and deathtouch go a long way.

Elves are a pain, especially since they can product 20+ creatures in 5-10 turns. I have found myself using perish more and more often because my deck has some built-in black ability.

I have always found mono black to be fun and frustrating to play at the same time. My girlfriend always plays her green elf deck against me, so black can be fun (perish) and devastating depending on how well the mana flow is during any particular game. Any advice on speeding up mana production for mono black?

Was able to pull a drowned catacomb to go along with my blue and black deck. This was the first time I used a draft simulator, and I must say it is a most useful tool.

Wyrren, I am glad to see another up-and-coming MTG player. I myself just got started in the game a couple of years ago, and find deck building to be a fun and exciting challenge.
