Jul 20, 2013Mastodon posted a message on Why Scavenging Ooze is better than Deathrite ShamanI think scavenging ooze is definitely better as graveyard hate than shaman is in most cases since his ability is a lot more flexible for that purpose. However, I don't really think you can say either is better than the other because they both play two completely different roles.Posted in: DOLZero Blog

Jul 19, 2013Mastodon posted a message on My thoughts on the direction of the game.It is actually a very interesting implementation, one that I think the game desperately needed, but maybe now it's time to try and make the other parts of the game a little more balanced. As you can see, many people are kind of sick of wizards pushing creatures so hard. Even new players begin to wonder why don't we have better spells?Posted in: Greatness at any cost

Its definitely playable in a sleeve. Like I said, it was in hard plastic sleeve which saved it from being crumpled. -

Feb 17, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Esper Teachings Primer DraftThank you.Posted in: Greatness at any cost
As I said, the thread and sub-section for esper teachings has been taken down. I asked feathers about it, but I haven't gotten a reply yet.
I've only heard about grim harvest and have yet to give it a try. When I do, I'll add it if it seems viable.
Honestly, I'm a bit more concerned if there are any cards that I discussed that really shouldn't be in the primer. -
Feb 16, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Why I hate GideonThough I definitely agree he's probably the lamest with his abilities and ability to control your opponents creatures so well, but I feel a lot of people have come to hate karn a lot more just because karn generally takes all of your opponent's stuff lol.Posted in: Zelderex Blog
Either way, having elspeth make a flying 5/5 mirran crusader that beats for 10 is just down right ****ty. And having your opponent look at the top card of your library with his JTMS, laugh, and then put it on the bottom of your library is also pretty ****ty. -
Feb 16, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Esper Teachings Primer DraftThanks. I was still trying to pull some deck lists together, but it looks like the esper teachings part of the established section under the modern forum has been removed for whatever reason (I guess because it's not a tier 1 deck? I dunno). I had some other decklists in mind, but they were under that section and now they're gone lol.Posted in: Greatness at any cost

Though I'm sure I have stuff to get a playset of seachrome coast, I'm not even going to bother. They don't really even help out my deck that much considering it curves out at 5, 6, and 7 lol. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
As far as meta goes, I've been playing a lot of maverick too and I don't think it'll come back too much thanks to true-name nemesis, but definitely still somewhat see more aggro. I mentioned collective brutality since its so versatile, but still not sure if thats where we want to be. I do agree that perhaps flusterstorms are better now as soft-permission(delver/stoneblade) will be more prevalent as well as the mirror.
It's been done in the past in some metas that didn't support it, but it is one of my favorite cards and I would hate to have to submit a list that doesn't have maelstrom pulse in it.
Better in more aggro builds obviously, mainly because of the colors it produces. I don't really like it without having mana dorks or knight of the reliquary to supplement it. There's too many burn players out there to play it without good reason. Your deck is playing a lot more creatures than most, iirc, so its probably fine in your deck.
On another note: why aren't people playing more Anguished Unmaking over maelstrom pulse in the main? I've found that in most matchups, I'd prefer the exile a single target at instant speed over sorcery speed destroy single target...with the potential for 2. I still like having maelstrom pulse in my 75, but I would think this deck favors anguished unmaking over pulse. Thoughts?
massacre could be good...but not sure. honestly, its already a good match up, so its tough to say since storm doesn't really want to dilute itself if it can avoid it. Against shardless, i know bringing in extra copies of tendrils is useful, so I'd imagine the same principle applies here.
Also, there's a link to a sideboard guide in the primer. its written for tes, but the same principles apply.
A long time ago, yes. Don't think it was any lists that had major success though.
Yeah, pretty much this.
This deck isn't really the deck for tricks and synergy and stuff. It's gotta be a house on its own...and this card is not a house by itself. It requires some sort of set up for it to be ideal. Not much use for it here I'm afraid. I'm inclined to say eternal witness is probably a stronger card overall, yet hardly sees any play in this deck (let alone, in the format), so I don't really have any hopes for renegade rallier.
Fair. Thanks for the input.
