I remember that card. I think I used Carnivorous Moss-Beast art for it. Also, I played with it extensively on Cockatrice in Commander. It is way too good. Initially I even had it search for any basic. I soon rellized it was obviously too good so I changed it to your current wording and it was still too good. It's a cheaper half Primeval Titan and evidently a smaller Prime Time is just as good or better. So, after playtesting, Roaming Bears is too good. IIRC, I removed trample and made it a 2/4. Still it was too good. So yep.

Anyone using cockatrice to player with custom cards?
Edit: Maybe we could create some custom commander precons with anyone interested and play sometime.
I'm thinking about how more cards with basic landcycling could help alleviate a lot of players biggest complaint with magic. mana screw. A quick glance at the Great Designer Search 3 thread and you'll notice that a lot of salvation designers agree. So, back to the question at the top. Can more spells with basic landcycling br printed at normal costs in order to address this issue? Is basic landcycling too good or something? It doesn't do anything other than make sure the game stays magic and not one-sided blowouts that neither player enjoys. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks
Library of Limbs seems fine to me. Brings to mind: Sylvan LibraryInto the WildsAbundance. With limbs costing more than 2 would wreck it. You MUST have no lands in hand AND you can only look at top 4 AND the land only goes into hand AND you're giving opponents hand info. There are so many variations on this type of card yet to be designed. Library of Limbs is a good one.
Reinforcments Captain3WW
Creature – Human Soldier (M)
First strike
When Reinforcements Captain enters the battlefield, if you have less life than an opponent, you gain 6 life. If you control fewer creatures than an opponent, create three 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens. 3/3
Notes: Based on Timely Reinforcements. Originally (or alternatively I could) I didn't have the "ifs" but with them flicker is less abusable.
It's similar to Captain of the Watch but with a different approach; you gain life instead of pumping dudes.
Designed for Commander.
Etani is the toughest evaluatuon ive ever had to me. 1/2 vigilance deathtouch for G. Ok looks good. Taps for white or black depending the gaining or loss of life. Interesting. He can get in for one over and over and then block some small dudes. The tap abilities and their conditions just make this hard for me. I sort of want to ignore them and just enchant or equip him. Basically I'm looking at him as
Etani G
Legendary Creature — Human Druid
Vigilance, deathtouch
1/2
Lera is a lot easier for me. I like it. I wonder what sort of things you could pull off with it. It feels like a card that would get printed in response to a powerful standard deck.
Nice cards HB
Edit: Maybe Etani could T: Add W if life gain. Add B if life loss. Add WB if both.
Yep definitely getting the bounty counter ability from Mathas. It's great flavor for bounties, mercs, and so on. The wording can't be less than what is as far as I've tried. (Vitka has less characters than Arahbo and Inalla.) And I even shortened Mathas just a bit by making it a may on any creature.
This card started out with Eminence but then I realized that Eminence is a tribal thing (Albeit not necessarily stuck there) and I want to affect three different classes. The legend itself doesn't have to be an Advisor but I feel it fits okay without other suggestions someone may have.
The balance seems good here for Commander. Sticks you in one color, Commander damage isn't an option, the decklist is restricted, the ability gives bonuses to opponents in multiplayer, and Tetzimoc is a good indicator that Vitka is fine at cost.
Any help on using less text is highly desired.
EDIT: Something I could do is drop the ETB alotogether and give her something assassin-y. Deathtouch and first strike or something else. Would save some room and her ETB doesn't greatly effect the card's intended purpose; recruit your enemies and profit
borrowing from the vow cycle, could be a legend with the ability: "Creatures with auras you control attached to them can't attack you or planeswalker you control."
I'm not seeing any relevance here to the opening statement in the respects to the fact I directly stated, "this ability would challenge designers with its level of intensity". I also went on further to provide graphic examples of how adaptable this ability truly is. I'm entirely against the attempt to devolve this concept and use counters. I personally loved the original concept, but onlyoneof themactuallyusedthe wordCrescendo. So it's not THAT relevant to the verse counter concept, and thus is either better constructed around another central Keyword, so is something best left in the past entirely as it was.
Mind you that I am not always for innovation either. I strongly believe that great discernment needs to go into innovated choices. Sometimes it's better to summarize things, but other times it's more important to just spell the entire thing out (it can be important to comprehension and context). For example, I was originally against changing the "play zone" to "the Battlefield", but it was something I was able to easily warm up to (given how it adds to the fantasy element of the game). Then you have something the "create" function, which I think was a poor execution of "innovation", and would have never let pass. The reason being is that although it does summarize things (and potentially save text space), it more importantly dumbs down the fantasy element of the game, through a bland command function. Putting things onto the battlefield was dynamic, despite the text space it takes up. But simply "create a creature token" is so monotone and two-dimensional, that it actually takes something precious away from the fantasy element of the game.
So it's not actually innovation, imo. And serves as an example of how this decision to innovate here was well thought out, and is not something that I'm just blindingly promoting to mindlessly press the idea forward. This is an example of good innovation, and attempting to complicate it from the form it takes is non-sensical, because there's absolutely no significant benefit in doing so.
This ^ is almost as confusing as...
Monster Egg1G
Artifact
Crescendo (During each of your turns, increase the number of times this card's abilities trigger by 1. Use a counter to keep track of this.)
At the beginning of your upkeep, add green mana to your mana pool. This mana doesn't empty from your mana pool unless spent or until end of turn.
At the end of the third turn this card's ability triggers, sacrifice Monster Egg and your opponent creates a 5/5 green Beast creature token with trample.
...but not quite.
Where does Crescendo currently stand? Is it still what you have posted up there or can you provide an updated example? Monster Egg as you have it posted is nonsensical on the highest.
Vitka, Cateran Overseer3BB
Legendary Creature – Human Advisor (M)
Whenever you cast an Assassin, Mercenary, or Rogue spell, if Vitka, Cateran Overseer is in the command zone, you may put a bounty counter on target creature. For as long as a creature has a bounty counter on it, it has "When this creature dies, each opponent draws a card and gains 2 life."
When Vitka enters the battlefield, destroy each creature with a bounty counter on it. 3/3
Are we staying in UBR colors or are G and W still open?

Which makes this completely fine here. I like it. Kind of scry kind of not. It's...weird
We've got Cancel
