you are basically saying "use MLD to prevent other players from playing"? then you have already lost the thread, this is the reason why MLD is so much frowned upon: it's brutal, pointless and annoying. people want to play the game, cast spells and creatures, not just play a land for 10 turn. that's why LD is hated. but you find LD a fair space in the game (stopping the ramp), then people may start to accept LD
Control decks are designed around "prevent other players from playing". Should control cards not exist? And those don't even have negative impacts on the casters mana bases.
MLD is 80% of the time a "if this spell resolves I will win this game very quickly"
I don't see a problem with casting spells to win the game that is what every other spell in your deck is designed to do.
You are loosing the thread if you believe MLD is used only to combat ramp.
If all your colored mana of any color is in land than MLD can be used to remove the possibility of a response to something in a later stage of your turn.
I don't use Decree of Annihiation just to stop ramp decks, but counter spells and protection spells and a myriad of other things when my board state is in a place where I don't need my mana either.
If my board can win in 2 turns I will cast MLD to make sure you aren't responding in-between those two turns.
My main deck is mono-red and because of the fact that mana dumps out of mana pools with phase changes MLD is the method to which I can use my board state and to stop my opponents from being able to respond in phases past 1st main.
In mono-red there is no other way to deal with a great deal of the threats posed by opponents mana other than nuking it all which is why the two I stick to when I use it are Decree of Annihilation and Obliterate both for pretty obvious reasons.
When it is advantageous for my board state I use them with the intent to win.
I keep one dice as life taken from sources not commander and then a dice for each commander that has done damage.

Wall of Denial Wall of Frost Wall of Vapor Fog Bank Mnemonic Wall
Also we can't forget all the Jellyfish. Guard Gomazoa and the like.
Also I guess Vent Sentinel if you have enough could be a win con
Isn't commander damage commander specific?
Hive Mind + Pact of the Titan or Pact of Negation
Any opponent who isn't in the correct color can not pay the cost and therefore looses the game.
