Um, the discord is probably where you want to be MagicMasterJr - this forum is basically dead. If you can't get into discord for whatever reason, then just follow the top8s etc. The deck is pretty good right now though, so thats positive. Once upon a Time really is a good magic card!

have the Basalt Monolith and the others mentioned already. How much slower do you estimate the deck will be? Would it drop it from competitive to not competitive?
Hey Guys, I have begun to build Doomsday Zur, but have come to the point where I am lacking the following cards and am struggling to find the best alternatives, due to cost.
Looking for input for the best alternatives to the following:
Grim Monolith
Lions Eye Diamond
Mana Crypt
Mox Diamond
Mox Opal
I currently run the talismans and signets (including the new one) so far and was considering what I could use in their place, outside of running proxies.
I guess that is true. I have not had much luck lately. I was crushed by burn, titan shift and split loss against dredge the last FNM I played. I ended up getting a by for the 4th round. I just cannot seem to get the clockwork turning until turn 3+ and by then, I am too far behind.
I think I will end up having to move on from this deck, my local meta does not seem to match it well.
Anyone thinking Thrill of Possibility may bring back some speed in the deck?
Been play testing variations over the last week or so and it just seems so slow compared to before.
Not many comments since the banning, just wondering if people have moved on>?
I started off with prized Amalgam in a Grix. I totally agree it is a bad H1 design. With out Loot we are a slower H1.
It was very clear to me how we are easily a turn if not two slower than we used to be. I was not getting Hollow One until turn 3 or 4 at most, when normally I could get one turn 2 or 3. Not as effective later in the game I think.
I tried the deck with 4 skelemental 2 unearth and 2 faerie macabre and think the looting ban is not a huge problem. Is a huge Card but only activates T1 hollow one with a street wraith ... Now with the faerie we do the same. The unearths and skelemental packs make deck more aggressive with more big threats ,and we can carry a full set of goblin lore and burning Inquiry, without be afraid of discard a big creature.
I tried a grixis version with izzet amulet and prizeds amalgam, but it's like a bad dredge... more midrange, it's not for this deck IMO.
Interesting. The Faerie aids against Dredge and other graveyard decks, and suits a purpose. Ill add that to a the list of cards to try.
I made similar changes +3 skelementals, +2 unearth, - 1 phoenix. I have been wondering if ramping with the deck might be better/easier now?
I made these changes and did not do so well. The decks characteristics have changed. Consistency is down and cheating in Hollow one no longer seems to be the main plan I think.
I did horrible against Burn, and Humans, but my sideboard was not 100% where it should have been.
I have been thinking about the dinosaur that is a 7/6 and forces you to discard each turn as a possible inclusion as it also reanimates with Unearth as well....just something I was considering. I really don't want to give up the deck, but some major brainstorming will be needed to compete with the new metas.
I'll toss my list into the mix for consideration. Currently, I have switched from Niv Mizzit Firemand to Parun. It seems to do really well when it does well and then other times completely runs out of steam. Looking for some guidance or tweaks to make it more efficient. I sold my Teferi deck, and am missing the cold hearted consistency and picked this one up as a close alternative.
Figured why make another post when there was already a primer in the mix,
Has anyone started brewing without Faithless Looting yet? I am at a loss of what to replace this with as I ran it as a 4 of....I too am considering jumping ship to another modern deck as it does not seem as fun to play without the crazy draws this car afforded us.
Lignify and Song of the Dryads stop them and are auras. Journey and Oring work, too.
Those are both solid suggestions, I had thought about Lignify but never considered Song of the Dryads. The aura part is good because it triggers with my draw engine.
I am also looking to put Stony Silence and Solemnity in as well, due to my meta changing to run artifacts and super-friends decks.
After some more play-testing, it seems I am having trouble with removal. My playgroup has taken a liking to Eldrazi and most of them are indestructible. I have Cast Out, Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile, but that does not seem to help much.

Ive decided to try -1 Phoenix and add 3 skelementals and 2 unearths to replace the 4 looting....
Anyone else try anything?

Time to consider what to take out...
What are peoples thoughts on this? Should I run more removal? Like Oblivion Ring? Journey to Nowhere?
