Okay, so I really like Gorgons. Personally, my favourite card from Ravnica 1.0 is Sisters of Stone Death because the flavour of Gorgons isn't entirely butchered like with Xathrid Gorgon. The Sisters 1st and 2nd abilities are perfect. I don't think the 3rd ability was needed at all, but if it needed to exist (mind you, I did not play during Ravnica 1.0) for metagame reasons, then I would've had the recovered creatures come into play with defender (like you said, you could hide behind them).
I mean, I get why they chose defender, but I would've given Xathrid Gorgon the ability to remove creatures from the game akin to the Sisters 2nd ability.

I do not know the entirety of the story (mainly just the facts concerning my favourite characters), my apologies.
But elves, are they not generally immortal (Lord of the Rings)? So your arguement would essentially rule out Teysa (as she's still? human) and other humans, but not rule out any elves (immortal) or gorgons (as they were generally immortal beings until Medusa was slain by Perseus).
On the subject of possible guild champions, Ludmilla (aka: the last surviving member of the Sisters of Stone Death ) would seen feasible for the Golgari. With all of this guild dissension going on, she wouldn't necessarily have to keep her promise to Feather (and it also helps that Feather is out of the picture).
I sure hope so! Imo, they screwed up with making a new planeswalker in Vraska the Unseen, when this easily could have (and should have) been Ludmilla! Her 4 sisters slaughtered? Isn't this enough to warrant one's latent spark to ignite, Wizards? Ludmilla has to at least be guild champion...at least or else it'll be a huge story mistake.
Ravnica is our beloved. We need to see what has come of old characters still living. Teysa absolutely has to be the Orzhov Champion, so lets give Ludmilla the nod that she should have received for planeswalker, and settle on her being Golgari's Champion. (We also need Tolsimir Wolfblood's token wolf, Voja (the Duels of the Planeswalkers art is great -- now give us the token card, irl)! And while I'm talking tokens, how about that Urami token (from Tomb of Urami? I sure want to see what the demon looks like!)
Still on the topic of Gorgons: Fwiw, I feel they missed a HUGE opportunity with Magic 2013's Xathrid Gorgon, too. The petrification counter is appropriately named, but Gorgon's turn lifeforms into stone! The gorgon should've relegated it's targets unable to block and frozen them solid (permanent tap? Idk, I suppose that's not in B.). Seriously, if turned into statue, how could you possibly move to block an attack?

Sweet artwork! While Damnation would be awesome and could fit as there have only been 2 mono-B cards spoiled thus far, Modern Masters IS just around the corner. My money is on a Culling Sun type effect with a new card name as a straight reprint will not fit the Name and Number Crunch: Span-counting there are no cards between Consuming Aberration and Deathpact Angel.
Another date misprint, it says 1/12 FNM in stead of 1/13 FNM

There is NO misprint here. The FNM promos are always the number of the current month (January = 1)/the number of months in a year (12). Ergo, 1/12 is exactly correct.
Example: Everflowing Chalice as you can see the card number is still 1/12 despite this being the January 2011 FNM promo. You'll notice after the card number the text, "F11," which indicated the year of print. Beginning in 2012, however, Wizards scrapped the year of print, and now, the promos just state "FNM".

I spent 3.5 hours driving to three different stores many miles apart today for two copies of the new comic. My local Comics and More were bought out by ONE GUY -- ONE DBag bought TWENTY of these things!!
Luckily, I had them hold me a copy at their other store, where they had two copies in-stock, but I was only allowed to purchase the one. So because I open one for my enjoyment and keep the second sealed for collection purposes, I had to go to a third store, which had only 1 copy remaining when I arrived. Luckily, I was able to get my two copies. But for anyone who still has yet to grab their copy/ies, I suggest you pick 'em up immediately.
The Magic 2013 Duels of the Planeswalkers expansion is out already for Playstation Network. Already defeated and unlocked all 5 Guild decks. Azorius and Izzet played strongest in the non-revenge campaign; Golgari was especially weak (maybe a bad hand?).

Being what looks like card #52 the name certainly is NOT "Bell-Chime Sphinx", as it would slot between the known cards: Skyline Predator (#50) and Syncopate (#54) in the Name and Number Crunch.
Didn't read the article...but why couldn't this have been Ludmilla?! Clearly, Wizards doesn't care at all about story continuity...although any Vorthos knew this already.
I think Wizards missed a HUGE opportunity here to relate to the Ravnica block -- which is basically what they claim the 5th basic land is for.
LOVE the card. She's even kinda EPIC. But just extremely disappointed that she isn't the last surviving member of the Sisters of Stone Death -- easily one of my most favourite cards.
Ftr, I feel Wizards blew Xathrid Gorgon's ability in M13, too. To be petrified is to be frozen; a stone statue, i.e.; UNABLE TO BLOCK. Xathrid Gorgon should've rendered every card in play it petrified useless (Arrest comes to mind!). But, I get it, in Magic, stone statues are living artifacts, etc...whatever. Gorgons are STILL my favourite creature, but seriously, NO MORE MISTAKES, WIZARDS!
P.S. - Don't even get me started on Worldspine Wurm and how it strikingly resembles Spinebiter inside a much larger Spinebiter AND that it looks like no other Selesnyan wurm on Ravnica! Gah.
