Whats the viability of deck that can get a high priest with regeneration on the board to do stuff...im not sure if it works but it was fun coming up with the idea.
Wait, nobody's even seen Yawgmoth, yet the Phyrexians were heavily involved with Yawgmoth for a couple years? Then, Yawgmoth 'died', conviniently, when Phyrexia wanted to see Yagmoth? I think I know what's going on here... Yawgmoth is Tuiasosopo!
This makes me sad. This thread makes me sad.
Mishra was a planeswalker. At least he was in the sense that he was printed as a planeswalker in an alternate story arch while they were handling mending of the rifts created by Urza and the sylix.
Yawgmoth was never a girl. He was a man. Not a planeswalker. Not even a mage. He was a scientist.
Urza was a planeswalker because of an imbued spark in power stones that we know as the might and the weak stone, which was one stone, broke in half representing the shattered mind of Glacian. This spark belonged to Glacian. Glacian was kept alive long for experimentation from Yawgmoth. When Urza and Mishra opened the portal to Phyrexia by removing the powerstone that sealed it, the stone broke. in the end the fusing of the stones and Urza's death made Urza a planeswalker, with the stones in place of his eyes.
Mishra is believed to always be a planeswalker by some. This is due to his card print, and the fact that he was indeed eternal, kept on new phyrexia being tortured constantly by Yawgmoth until he truely is dead, though never made to be eternal through Phyresis.
This is not a story line post. Its a stop asking what if questions about canon that is already available. Yawgmoth a girl. Really? Other than the cards do you know anything about Magic The Gathering?
Continuing with the baseless speculation that this is feasibly a possibility, the return of Urza and a artifact block...
WOTC can do what they please, especially when Maro retires or someone else gets placed in charge of making decisions of things, this happens in all companies from time to time and some things get Reconnected or revisited. Urza as a planeswalker card? Sure as a card they could do it. Story line, sure they can do it. Dead is dead, well they can circumvent that or they can stick with their guns, that no one has been able to post anything stating this other than through ambiguity no one knows because no one has given a statement saying pointedly that they wont do a planeswalker saga, prequels or alternate time lines.
Now we have Modern Masters. Cards that are considered Modern staples reprinted. Do you think that this set, featuring cards from all over is going to not include any new cards? Its all going to be Chronicles type reprints?
A special set like Modern Masters with no relevance to a story line would be a great time to toss cards in they wanted to make but no story line arch to follow. Like a Urza The Artificer Planeswalker card.
There I can post useless speculation, be a jerk and add original thought to a thread that should be closed and include bad recaps of a series of books that I read 10 years ago.
Ok so I am a bit confused. Say I am playing a deck like BR zombies...strike that. Call it mono black zombies for the fun of it.
we will talk about just the main cards here that we are going to be using.
4xgravecrawlers
4xcrypt ghast
4xblood artist
4xBloodthrone Vampire
This sounds like a deck that could do some damage. Sac a grave crawler, cast it, sac it, rinse and repeat. Turn 5 you can do it what, 5 times.....twice... with a blood artist out thats 10 damage, not to mention swinging with your 11/11 vampire? seems strong.
Cipher is not part of a cost of the spell its an ability that changes the destination of the spell card when it resolves. Why are people arguing that it is a cost of the spell? It has nothing to do with the cost.... in fact I can see what cards I draw, before I even decide if I want to cipher. Flash back works with a card with cipher because you exile the card after the ability is done due to cipher. The fact it was flashed back has no meaning other than it came from the graveyard, and after the spell leaves the stack it will go into exile.
The way I read it, is that if this spell is cast from flashback by whatever means, it would go onto the stack, and than when you use the cipher aspect of the card, which you can as cipher is a keyword ability and not a alternate cost to casting, you would than exile it from the stack, and than the trigger to exile from the flashback would fail to find the spell.
There is no reason that snapcaster can't put this on a creature, or itself technically. Also I belive that the you might be able to have multiple instances of "encoded" abilities. It has no limiting facets like say soul bond. So Mystic retrival, and than cast again on your invisible stalker swing, triggers twice, *giving your opponent a chance to terminus or bonfire* off the first card drawn. Now use the psychic spiral card to win game. I see this as a great BUW reanimator engine....with delver. Delver of Cipher is going to be a deck....
I have been having some success with this list, any ideas on how to make it a little better? It has a fairly decent turn 4-5 win rate, the original list had strangleroot geist in them but I went with huntmasters and mayors to get tokens and pumps for the beastmaster....thoughts?
This doesn't work. The angel token from Geist is exiled "at the end of combat" so unless you're flashing in Disciple somehow, the angel token is gone by the time you can cast him.
Your right, ive been playing the card wrong (geist of saint taft) Bummer, deck still does well, just not as well as I had thought it was doing ;/
I like disciple, just dont like that we have to sac a creature. Wish there was a sleeper card out there that would be good to sac
I have had great success with bringing down a geist of saint taft and then sacing the angel token with disciple. Check my posted list from a few days ago, it is doing great, I havent played it at FNM, ive been playing my jank mono green chalice of life deck, however I have been playing this deck on the side and I think I am going to keep hammering out the details until it is set as a good daily driver.
If you remove your land and don't sufficiently shuffle to make it random you can be cited, im sure someone with more knowledge on this subject or a rules adviser can give better input.
It looks good, as far as mono green can look without being an actual fight club deck. I would make some changes though, First you have 3 Human type creatures, one of which is going to be huge in making your other larger creatures come out (somberwald sage). I would recommend playing cavern of souls just to protect her, or at least have it in the side.
The card Rancor is HUGE for this kind of agro deck. A turn 1 arbor elf can make a turn 2 strangle root geist with a rancor on it, beating in for a potential 4 damage, that's pretty good I heard, and if it dies, you get your dude back and rancor. Not bad eh? I would definitely run 4 instead of 2, and maybe a 4th geist as well.
Crushing vines might be a good call to play in the main, but I probably wouldnt. I would run 2 in the sideboard and add some of those revenge of the hunted miracle cards in the main in their place.
Soul of the harvest is fairly good for a few reasons, but mostly for card advantage, but for 1 less mana you can get out a primal hunter and get all the card advantage you need by using his -3 ability right away on a creature that is 5/x or more. Not to hard to do since you have the potential of a turn 3 5/2 geist, not to mention his other abilities are pretty good to.
The big question I have to ask is why not Thragtusk, the answer might be cost, but if you plan on having this deck around for a while, you might want to think about getting one or two in here, simply put, he is amazing, maybe cut 2 of the wolfir's out for him, or the hydra's for sure.
Speaking of the hydra, you might consider running Primordial ooze in its place. It comes down smaller but is resistant to destruction, if you toss on a rancor and he gets big he is going to be forced to do something, and quick.
Just some suggestions, I hope it might take you somewhere!
Here's the deck I used on FNM. I placed 4th which was pretty pathetic considering how poorly made and untested this deck was.
Artifacts - 4
4 x Chalice of Life => Chalice of Death
My favorite round that game was when I had wurmcoil out with 2 +1/1 counters on him, making him a 8/8. I also had all 3 rhox out. I attacked and he chump blocked giving me 64 life. Then I played essence harvest gaining 64 more life and my opponent just forfeited lol
Once upon a time a few months back I had a deck that dealt with life gain to flip the chalice, it looked like this...
4 x High Priest of Penance
1 x Palisade Giant
4 x Pharika's Cure
3 x Gift of Orzhova
4 x Manaweft Sliver
3 x Vraska the Unseen
3 x Boon of Erebos
3 x Golgari Charm
3 x Mending Touch
4 x Trollhide
24 Junk Lands
Whats the viability of deck that can get a high priest with regeneration on the board to do stuff...im not sure if it works but it was fun coming up with the idea.
4 Glistener Elf
4 Blighted Agent
3 Simian Spirit Guide
3 Ghor-Clan Rampager
Spells
3 Artful Dodge
3 Assault Strobe
4 Groundswell
2 Mutagenic Growth
4 Vines of the Vastwood
2 Writ of Passage
2 Apostile's Blessing
2 Flesh // Blood
2 Revenge of the Hunted
4 Breeding Pool
2 Cavern of Souls
3 Hinterland Harbor
4 Inkmoth Nexus
2 Pendelhaven
3 Rootbound Crag
4 Stomping Ground
If I were to go mono black I would try mono black discard/control.
This makes me sad. This thread makes me sad.

Now however I am going to toy with the whole WG idea....or maybe even mono black with life link dudes.
I just dont like blunts casting cost to be honest, now in GW with a Rhox out that might be something more to consider.
I think Green/White might be the way to go, it gives better sideboard options not mentioned like Gideon and celestial purge...
How would that deck list look? Also that would give 4 safe passage's a home in the deck and I could lose the mists...
