I think it is very unlikely and Maro has pretty much said it is the most unfun mechanic ever. I think there is a very very very small chance though if they basically kept it to Fateseal 1. Theros has way more Scry 1 then all previous cards so just maybe limiting it to only Fateseal 1 except for maybe like CMC 7+ cards.

They could use the space for way better cards and mechanics.

Very risky which I typically enjoy but it feels hard to make it worth it. I know 2 power for 1 mana is huge but there is potential for you take a ton of damage. If they flash in a very powerful blocker you suffer hard. I would be sure to have a cheep sacrifice engine just in case.

Makes me sad Into the Maw of Hell and Blasphemous Act is rotating out. I would love to blast this guy for 13 damage!

How over-powered would this be if the first ability you didn't need to tap? Just pay 1 mana per creature to throw a bunch of Fate counters around and let the pressure of who you will target for the other 2 effects build.

I love the flavor but it just seems so slow for little pay-off in the long run and I typically like bad cards.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I love Monstrosity and keep coming up with all kinds of ideas for various interactions between cards.

So if Artisan of Forms (or a similar card) copies a creature with Monstrosity and activates it they get the +1/+1 counters and become Monstrous. Then they copy a different creature with Monstrosity, of course they keep the +1/+1 counters but do they stay Monstrous? Would you be able to activate the new Monstrosity ability? Or would you stay Monstrous and effect like Fleecemane Lion or Polis Crusher be active?

Finally does anything change if the second creature you copy is the exact same creature as the first creature you copied. Would it be considered a new instance and be able to activate Monstrosity again assuming the Monstrous resets as mentioned in the first example?

Yeah I hate the tap part. During a FNM I was watching my girlfriend play a game and she used a burn spell against Wolfir Avenger (She didn't realize it had regenerate) during her opponent's main phase. So of course the opponent regenerated it but HE DIDN'T TAP IT! Then he attacked her. It pissed me off but I felt like I would be an ******* if I interfere.

So yeah Regenerate and Protection have tons of extra rules baggage that doesn't come up often but is really annoying when someone gets screwed by it.

  • posted a message on Xenagos is just Bolas, right?
Xenagos definitely seems like he is working based solely off his own ambitions. It is possible during the time he first left Theros and learned of the Multiverse he may have crossed paths with Nicol Bolas but I kind of doubt. It seems he feels betrayed both by the Theros gods and multiverse upon realizing what a small insignificant speck of dust he really is. Xenagos is just a bratty rich kid who just realized he is actually really poor and will do anything to actually be rich (with power).

I think at the end of Journey Into Nyx both Elspeth and Ajani will beat the hades out of Xenagos but he will just barely escape. Then while half-dead Nicol Bolas will appear in front of him and offer him a chance at real power instead of just the gods' power. CLIFFHANGER!

What role Ashiok or the Born of the Gods planeswalker (Likely Kiora) have in all this I have no idea.

  • posted a message on [[BaseSpec]] Urza Coming Back?
I think there is a decent chance that a time-traveled or reborn Urza will appear as a 5-colored Planeswalker in M14 as a 20th year anniversary thing. If not then I really don't think so. I don't think there will be an entire block around him and more so this as a cool special cameo!

  • posted a message on [[BaseSpec]] M14 Reprint Wish List
There are some insane things people want that don't really make sense in a Standard environment or are on the reserve list.

    -Land-
All 10 check lands will rotate out and they said they are not reprinting the ally colored ones for sure this time. Wouldn't it be funny if all 10 fetch-lands were reprinted while all 10 shocklands were legal? Oh I hope not! Whatever they do I hope they don't only print ally lands after coming from Ravnica. Let enemy colors have support too!

    -Planeswalkers-
We know Chandra 4.0 is coming. I think Ajani and Liliana deserves at least 1 reprint of their M13 forms. I hope Green is new like maybe a new Nissa (that people would like). I really want Tamiyo to be reprinted as the M14 blue walker!

    -Random-
    Nirkana Revenant
    Platinum Angel
    Phyrexian Obliterator
    Time Warp
    Vengevine
    Warren Instigator
    Akroma, Angel of Wrath
    Price of Progress
    Howling Mine
Brute Force or Fists of the Anvil
Raging Goblin (Obsolete due to Legion Loyalist but one of my favorite cards ever)
    Pulse Tracker
    Goblin Tunneler or Tawnos's Wand
    Soul's Majesty

  • posted a message on Mad Prophet VS Rummaging Goblin
If this is in the wrong forum then please move it.

I have been considering writing my first MTG article for some time now. But I need some research on how other people feel about certain cards and their overall use. I would appreciate any feedback on both these cards and how one is better then the other in which situations.

The cards compared here are Mad Prophet and Rummaging Goblin. So consider the difference of Converted Mana Cost, Power/Toughness, creature types, and haste or lack of.

Thank you in advance for your help:)

Remember just a few sets ago we got Commander's Authority? Look at the amazing difference a red mana and 2 rarities higher?
-Not an aura so isn't weak vs creature removal.
    -Tokens get haste
-Number of tokens increase each turn.
-Multicolored (better vs intimidate and such)
-Human tribal got a lot of recent support but overall soldier is better

That is a huge difference! It can be argued if this card will be good or not in constructed but I think this card is really exciting for limited at least.

Personally I think it will be good in standard too.

I was really excited for Vampires but this deal damage to get a +1/+1 effect has always felt really slow and not effective enough. But I realized by throwing an Assault Strobe on this guy is perfect! Most people don't like Assault Strobe because it is a sorcery but it is fine with this since he is partially unblockable. Hit them for 2 and get 2 +1/+1 counters. Play another next next turn to deal 6 more damage and become a 5/5. Not bad by turn 3 and still having mana left over.

  • posted a message on Garruk Relentless
Ok I admit I have not read through all 22 pages but I'm pretty sure i read through the first 11 before. I absolutely do not understand why people are speculating him with 6 abilities instead of 5. So many predicted versions have 3 abilities per side mainly because it has a transform on each side. Have you seen the art of the transformed Garruk? Why does anything that Liliana's curse is that easy to go back and forth between? I am thinking once he transforms he doesn't go back.

    +1 ability.
    +1 different ability.
0 must have X loyality to activate. Transform.
    /////
    -Y ability.
    -Z ability.

That would make total sense. Like Espeth and Nissa his first two abilities are positive abilities. Then when he hits a number he can transform but remember when he does he keeps all loyalty counters so it isn't like the cost could be removing them all. Once transform he goes all Sarkhan the Mad with powerful suicidal negative abilities with no way to increase his loyality.

Does anyone agree with my prediction?

  • posted a message on [M12] Chandra, Garruk and Jace aren't in Lorwyn Form
Ok believing they are fake due to number crunch or some visual error is logical but saying they are designed poorly is extremely silly.

I'm sorry I don't have the exact article to refer to but WotC said that their converted mana cost does not equal their overall power, just each card refers to each planeswalker bringing a different set of spells to the table.

Planeswalkers are essentially players. Players do not always have a way to use + abilities. The argument that Garruk is fake because his + can't always happen is stupid. Neither can Sarkhan the Mad and yet people don't complain. If you have some non-basic lands that give you red mana you could get Koth out but have no mountain to use his +1 ability on. Unlike other planeswalkers I am pretty sure you could activate Koth's abilities then. Garruk is a green planeswalker that uses big creatures so of course his + needs a creature. Koth affects a mountain, Nissa uses elves, and Tezzeret manipulate artifacts. Yes those are a bit more flexible and can be used to no effect but in the right deck shouldn't.

As stated before Planeswalkers represent players. Lots of players and their decks have one single solid strategy that all the spells work together for. But other players use spells that are a wide variety of spells for any unexpected occasion. So both of them having abilities that don't relate to their other abilities is not that strange. People need to stop seeing Planeswalkers as the massive powered figures that go up or down and have an ultimate. Instead look Garruk's and Chandra's 3 abilities as 3 totally different options you have depending on your situation each with just a different impact on your loyality counters.

Also just like how Tezzeret could -0 to search for an artifact land or something like Darksteel Relic, Garruk could -0 to bring out Memnite. Garruk stays at 5 and poses a threat to your opponent which disrupts their plans.

The signature spells not matching is a bit weirder but still reasonable. Look at Garruk's Horde. You cast it and reveal the top card. Not a creature. Use Garruk's -X ability to get a creature and then shuffle the library. Now you have 1 less creature in your library which decreases your odds but hey lets see what the top card of the library is now after shuffling... oh awesome it is a creature now, cast it!

Chandra and her Phoenix are a bit different though. I was sure we were getting Ablaze because that phoenix has perfect synergy with Ablaze! It really has almost none with this 3 converted mana cost Chandra. But maybe that is the case. I am thinking they made the Planeswalker's first and then their rare signature spells. They really needed to make a cheep fast Chandra. They gave her great abilities for that goal! But now came time to design her rare. Despite how she works great as is, nothing can really support her. The best you have would be like "If this creature is not blocked..." but come on we already have tons of those, nothing special there. So instead why not instead support Ablaze who is a niffty idea for a card but needs more help. Ablaze works well with Madness and other red cards you want to discard but that isn't quite enough, this Phoenix essentially voids out the discard but still does 4 damage. The problem here is they make cards (especially core sets) for Standard. But seriously, why not make 1 of the new cards for the eternal formats to draw in more people. Recent boosters have released cards that seem clearly made for Commander and not Standard so why not release a card in the Core set for Legacy?

One last thing about the crunch. The planeswalker is called "Chandra," and the signature spells are "Chandra's". Now we know if there is a space after the name it comes before ' but in this case it is a , so I am thinking the ' is before the ,. Basically "Chandra," is "127" and a "Chandra " would be "124". No problem with the number crunch.

I hope after this people are not so closed-minded on how every single Planeswalker MUST BE AT ALL TIMES! I think WotC is really getting creative with Planeswalkers and transforming their role. Before their were the large flag that brought victory. Now they are another one of many ALLIES that help achieve victory by working together. Oh yeah what is the tagline for M12 again? That is right "Gather your ALLIES!" The tagline is not "Sit back and send a Planeswalker out alone to win the game for you".
