    I like Mindwiper too...also a lot.
Wait a minute, when you said Mindwiper, is it an actual card or did you mean Mindwarper?

"Mindwiper" is actually a sketch of Hypnox.

absolutonis: The art that is named hypnotic specter at the artist webpage is confirmed by wizards as 9th edition booster box art.

There must be something wrong with my browser. I only see a 3x3 grid of pictures labeled:

    Djinn // Dwarf // ErhnamDjinn
    Goblin_Sharpshooter // Kondas_Bodyguard // Leaden_Myr_creature
    stapwizcoast // BenBen // Mindwiper

Where is the Specter supposed to be showing up?

Another possible answer to the Sakashima question

    Sakashima the imposter :3mana::symu::symu:
    Legendary creature - Human shapeshifter

blue mana Sakashima the imposter does something cool.

blue mana Sakashima the imposter does something cool.

blue mana Sakashima the imposter does something cool.

In fairness, the current ability templating means "the Imposter" would only be in the first ability. It would simply refer to itself as "Sakashima" for each additional ability.

I wouldn't actually be all that shocked to have two cards name Sakashima the Imposter, each with an ability or two. I mean, if there's ever going to be a time for this, it's now, and it seems like the sort of change-up R&D likes to throw. It's certainly never been done before.

    MONEY SHOT. It's Impostor

4 Hits for Impostor. One of its Morphling abilities doesn't use his full name.

Actually, any references to a card's name after the first don't use the full name. A card named "Sakashima the Impostor" and any number of abilities only account for two instances of the word... I'll lay money on flavor text attributions making up the difference.

It is a rare. It was not reprinted in the base set. To my understanding, that's what the reserved list is nowadays.

Color me confused. I was under the impression that any rare not immediately reprinted in a base set was put off limits permanently, but this doesn't appear to be supportable. Perhaps I am hallucinatory.

I'm a little surprised that people are still debating these. Hypnotic Specter alone is enough to show this is false. Two of the most comparable recent cards, Abyssal and Hollow Specters, are so far down the ladder in terms of power that to even suggest that Hypnotic would see reprinting is a pipe dream at best. The entire "they don't do random discard" business is worth noting as well, but others have covered that many times over.

Ten painlands is also a bit ludicrous. First, that they would print ten two-colored lands at all is pushing things, as there has never been a base set with more than a single cycle. Second, the painlands were just dropped for the tap-duals, which Wizards appears to like much more due to the reduced need for bookkeeping. Third, by having "worse" two-colored lands in the base set, Wizards is more able to print better ones in expert-level sets, a goal they've expressed many times.

All that, and Verdant Force is on the Reserved List.

Your source may think he has good information, but he doesn't. I too will gladly take up your offer to bet on these cards.

I suppose at this point, throwing more fuel on the fire is just silly, but these are worth saying (reiterating):

The Reserved List argument is powerful. As was pointed out a while ago, the alterations necessary to make Mox Diamond available would either a) destroy the list, or b) destroy its integrity. If you don't believe in the list anyway, I suppose this won't sway you much, but honestly, it's been pushed back as far as it can go without disappearing completely.

Duress being reprinted in the same set as the already-confirmed Blackmail is highly suspect, as would the presence of Cataclysm in a set with Wrath of God. If they were thinking about these cards, there is almost no way they would have been left out of "Selecting Ninth Edition." The potential publicity of "leaking" those confirmations would be too great.

Imperial Seal being reprinted at all is highly suspect considering that Diabolic Tutor has been endorsed as the "correct" costing of a tutor. Some cards have strange visual inconsistencies as well -- check out Erad's zoom-in. In the text boxes of both Duress, Seal and Rancor, you can see shadows around the text. This definitely makes me wonder about those cards.

The set symbol on the cards looks very much like the Eighth Edition symbol. Until now, each core set symbol has been different, with 6th getting Roman numerals, 7th a simple number and 8th the number on a fan of cards. The purpose of a set symbol is to be able to distinguish between a card's versions -- a repeat defies this.

These are only aesthetic points, but the art on Winds of Change is incredibly odd. What is that figure in the foreground? The neck is very long and the limbs seem misplaced. Rancor's art also features Multani, a figure no longer in the Magic canon, although this is not an impossibility. The "John Avon" piece on Cataclysm is decidedly underwhelming considering what we've seen of his work.

Knowing what I know, I must suspect this is a fake. That said, it is of an extremely high quality and I commend its creator.
