That Tezzeret is gorgeous. Really want him, Jace and Bolas. Never will own them though because to hell with those prices. Really disgusted with how Wizards has been doing things lately and the secondhand market isn't helping.

This is definitely something that happened.

This is a pretty major set story-wise, so why then do they use a rare slot on a running joke character? Why is he even in the set to begin with? Mechanically he feels..odd, like I don't get how the first effect really ties in with him at all, the second at least is somewhat worthwhile as far as flavor goes. I'm sure most people don't care, they're just happy that he finally got a card, but this really feels like something that should have been in a supplemental set or something, where they usually stick characters like this. I mean, they literally took a non-character from some flavor text and made him a full blown rare legend in one of the biggest even sets the game's ever had. Like, really? But again, this is probably falling on deaf ears because "omg hahaha, they actually made a Fblthp card!"

Wow, I didn't even realize how fat they made the new Radha in comparison to the original :/

I mean, this is the same community that complained about Triumph of Ferocity but had zero issues with Triumph of Cruelty and don't you dare say anything against the agenda push the industry (this, movies, comics, games, etc.) has been getting.

I'm sure that better Gatherer searchers and other formats will see better stuff (like the Dreadnought).

I think that what sells this cards is: it's VERY cheap, and the ability is instant-speed.

Put Vector Asp and Phyrexian Dreadnaught in your yard and he turns into an instant kill

If you change it into Dreadnaught it no longer has infect.

The Masters art for Tutor is sooooo much better.

I am so done with bull***** from WotC man. I wouldn't necessarily it kills it, but this is such a huge blow to one of my favorite decks of all time (Manaless Dredge). Absolutely pissed.

Here's the counterpoint, how about they just, you know, not reprint it at all in the set? I mean, it's certainly not a card people were fighting tooth and nail to get a reprint, right? Is it really so necessary that this format have Pelakka Wurm in it? Couldn't they have just..made something new or different for that spot?

I get if someone is just bumping old, dead threads and not really adding anything new to the discussion or something like that, but I saw a necro'd thread that was recently locked and the mod simply posted saying that if you want to continue the discussion to post a new thread instead of digging up an old one.

Ummm, why? If there is already a thread on the subject, one that's already some discussion in it, why not just continue to use that than just add another thread about the exact same thing?

First GP I ever went to, and this was just to check it out as I wasn't actually participating, Terese Nielsen was there. But it doesn't though encourage good play and usually stores that do rare drafts afterwards have terrible prizes in the first place.

Here are some reasons why I don't like "rare redrafts" at the end of drafts:

1. increases the tournament length. (now we have to sort our cards after the event and make sure no one sneaks in bad rares for the good ones they drafted)

2. increases fraud (aforementioned I cracked a sphinx's revelation I'm going to replace it with a Havoc Festival ) It really places a lot of effort on "the honor's system" and I don't trust a lot of people to be completely honest with this.

3. The prizes are now even more lopsided to the top winners. So what you're saying is I get the foil promos, packs/credit, and first pick of the best rares/foils from the draft pool? Sometimes you open bad, or draft wrong and you crack open a bomb foil/rare in pack 3, now you got to give that up to the winner too? That is terrible.

4. People place a disappropriate amount of emphasis on "getting value out of packs of cards". If you spend 11 dollars for the draft then redraft the rares at the end and end up with 3 dollars worth of rares was it *really* worth it to do the redraft? On the other hand, if you win the draft and end up with 20 dollar rare that you didn't open plus packs/foils/credit you are far, far ahead.

5. I think it encourages the wrong things about limited. while not every rare is first pick material, not every rare is worth picking up in a draft anyways. Like RTR for example, there are very few times you wouldn't take most of the money rares out of the set the first pick, and if you were worried about "getting your money's worth" than take a bomb rare when you see it.

Actually, 'you can answer it' is a valid argument. In a format like EDH, there's plenty of things that put the game in a single person's favor. Yeah, sorry, if you can't answer threats, you're going to lose. If you can't deal with Teferi, Mage of Zahlfir, you're going to lose and he's run in way more blue decks, gives a clear advantage and puts everyone else at a disadvantage.

'but you can't copy Teferi like Consecrated Sphinx!' I know, I know. But by this logic, isn't the real culprit copy effects? Should we just ban copy effects so big interactions and strong and somewhat funny plays can't happen? Hey, at least the biggest argument against Sphinx will go away... I've said it before and I'll say it again: power does not equal ban worthy. It's really sad that so many people scoff at a card just because it handed them their own rump at the LGS or Cockatrice a couple of times.

I now understand the Primeval Titan banning, but comparing Sphinx to it does not make any sense. Primetime was run in almost every green deck because of it's unparalleled ability to get lands, and not just basics. Blue and red would copy and theft it, and black and white would reanimate it on the spot. Everyone who wasn't green wanted to be green just for the Titan. It was almost always a good play at any stage of the game. Consecrated Sphinx is not the same. It does not warp the format to this degree with any consistency. It is not run in every blue deck. It is not always a strong play.

Honestly, I really don't see the big deal with Consecrated Sphinx. I run him in my deck. Yeah he's cool, he can draw you cards, but he dies a lot and paints a target on your head. Sometimes he's more trouble than he's worth. I think some people get this idea that a card is too powerful or unfair and this cultivated ignorance perpetuates itself until people need a card to martyr.

I voted no. Surprise, surprise.
