Toying around phyrexians and elesh norn, grand cenobite i designed this commander (do not mind the bland and boring name) Phyrexian Conqueror4UBR
Legendary creature - Horror
Creatures your opponents control get -2/-2.
At the beginning of each end step, if at least four creatures died this turn, you may put target artifact creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control.
3/2
What do you think? Too good? Too weak?
I find that the concept itself is a little oppressive. The rest of the card is right-costed, even a little UP, but the -2/-2 ability is still really strong. Playing this general in my meta would mean that riku and kaalia becomes really hard to play, for example.
Should i make the ability only give -1/-1? Or maybe -2/-0? I made it -2/-2 because i wanted to mirror tempered steel
Bonus:
Raptor FledglingGG
Creature - Dinosaur
Enrage -- Whenever Raptor Fledgling is dealt damage, you may have it become a copy of another target Dinosaur you control. If you do, Raptor Fledgling gains this ability.
1/2
This is also a creature, which can be answered by any color, unlike enchantments - so there's no need to be so cautious about this. At 8 this is pretty safe.
And it's also way easier to cheat in.
I would either:
- shrink the body to 4/4 and remove deadtouch
- remove the option to reanimate opponent's creature and just make angels in any case
- remove the ability that triggers off your creatures
So somewhere between 15 and 50 is probably where the fair cost lies.
Still i think that would be bad design. It would feel miserable.
Firemind Foresight is surely comparable but still has more option to be dealt with. Milling reset or rule of law, for example.
Narrow cases, sure, but they help making the card feel less "inevitable".
Mike+Trike is surely an strong combo, but triskelion alone is a really mediocre card.
A 20 mana cost "i win" sorcery would still be a win condition alone, while ALSO being able to "combo".
A enchantment/artifact option like darksteel reactor would be better imo, because it would feel less inevitable.
If you really need it to be a sorcery, i think that using "target players loses the game" would be better. i would probably make it cost 15.
Unless crazy requirements, it won't be fair. coalition victory is banned and for a good reason.
It's not nice to hear "regardless of board states and whatever, if you don't have a counter i win".
And now we also have omnispell adept so...
The best way to make a "i win no matter what" card is something like darksteel reactor
You'll typically want Cadaver Imp for black aligned non-tribal decks, and Ghoulraiser is more efficent (but random!) than good ol' GDigs. For one more mana, Phyrexian Delver does a lot. Outside of black you've got Eternal Witness to compete with. Cycling your Gempalm Polluter for lethal feels good though, so why not twice?
This is kinda what dude does. He looks for posts he can try to systematically dismantle so that he feels superior for his "e-rep", if ever that were a real tangible thing. Arguing with him only furthers stir the pot. Best to click the ignore feature. Hope this helps you.

What I’m saying is that making it’s strongest assets culturally unacceptable is the reason why we all say it sucks, when it doesn’t have to if we are more accepting of meaner strategy.
And you are ignoring a huge part of boros' weaknesses by thinking that "meaner strategies" will be help by much.
You are just focusing on the "boros sucks at ramp" problem, with a little of "boros sucks at card advantage"
You also have "boros sucks at generals", "boros sucks at wincon" and "boros sucks at bombs" too.
People keep saying this, but I'm not sure its actually true. Other colors and combos would certainly benefit, but to be honest they aren't going to benefit that much compared to the options they already have. Adding Geddon effects would make UW a little bit better, but it would make RW significantly better, because it matters more to RW to get it as an option. RW also is one of the better positioned color pairs to take advantage of mld as mld does a great deal to help aggro, while RW is primarily an aggro color. BW would probably benefit tremendously as well, but doesn't need it as much.
Honestly i don't how the "keep the game in the early stages thanks to MLD and win with inefficient and constant attacks from my weenies" strategy can actually be any better than "keep the game in the early stages thanks to MLD and win with fast combos or my high-powered general".
Kaalia with MLD can eat any boros for breakfast.
Aggro is still weaker because of more opponents and higher life totals, the abundance of lands is just a factor and not even the major one.
It's somewhat mind-boggling to me that we're still all over the place. I was under the impression that we're discussing how RW being weak is a cultural phenomena. And this thread seems to be indicating that there might be some substance to that.
Of course there is substance to that. Have you seen the boros generals?
boros players wanting it to be a cultural phenomena doesn't make it so. Good cards and bad cards exist. Good generals and bad generals exist.Better colors and worst colors exist. Everything else is a consequence of this.
Because it is good writing to have the Planar Bridge that the badguys require for the plot too work to just suddenly fall into their lap at complete random and then have it happen again in the very next "major story arc"
I don't even understand what you are saying or how that is remotely related to phyrexians, so no, it won't be good writing
A spells-matter Jeskai deck with a cheaper variant of Firesong and Sunspeaker would be great, but its also the color combo I'm positive will be in 2019.

Same for me. And they are so neglected that even the card tag isn't working
No love for rot hulk?

You listed only 1 example and you even admitted that it's not a really good example, so i think you answered yourself
I don't think they will honestly, i think it will just be a planeswalker fest

Really oool idea, i hope they will do it.
