I guarantee i am smarter than you. You fail to see that when wotc or whatever company makes a gay character for the sake of diversity it would more than likely be a rushed, forced narrative instead Of a well developed character that happens to be gay. This is the same situation that star wars has found itself in but with a different set of people.

You may be smarter than everyone here, but surely you are ignorant as **** (quite common problem between americans). I guess you hould try to search some images about Puck or Oberon and you'll surely see that a shirtless flamboyant guys isn't so preposterous, if we are talking about fairies.

the biggest problem with all of this isnt the depiction of handsome male characters with chests exposed, its the fact that the company only hires and affiliates itself with the most bigoted types of sjws. the problem is if an employee at WOTC said to his co-workers "i love the classic conan stuff, that traditional fantasy stuff" it would be seen as 'problematic' and he'd probably be fired. and so for years the company has been on a crusade to completely emasculate itself. to remove even the slightest depiction of heroic traditional masculinity, and replace it with often obnoxious depictions of women fullfilling those roles, almost as if women are allowed to be masculine now and men arent. i mean its hard to even explain it because it just sounds so stupid, but that is whats happening.

Oh yeah, again the lie of people being fired/hired for sjw. People point me a real name of someone fired by wotc because he didn't want to be "emasculated"
    Yeah guess what, you can't
So much for a guy throwing around words like "empirically".
Empirically, Jace is still the male nerd so smart that can solve every problems with a few tricks
Empirically, Gideon is still the buff male that held the awesome weapon and was also so heroic to sacrifice himself and save everyone
Don't get mad just because Liliana and Chandra got their time to shine too, or because right know it seems that Rowan will have a bigger role than Will

on the MPL and hiring practices.

Can you tell me with a straight face that hiring based on color for any reason leads to the best quality work and products? Or does hiring based on qualifications and merit? And by that can you honestly say that if they hire based on race instead of qualifications that the quality of work would be the same than the other way around? And dont try to reinterpret what he said to fit your argument he straight up said “we are too white we need color” he never said anything about still looking at merit or qualifications.

Please can you point me at those nonwhite people without merits that have been hired and are ruining wotc? Because without names of examples, it just looks like you have a distorted view of reality and you are talking out of your ass

    Arthur Conquering Rome

You know i'm italian and i don't know what you are talking about.

I'm not an expert of medieval literature but i can arrogantly say that i know more than the average person. Here in Italy we study Dante, Petrarca, Ariosto, Boccaccio and Tasso as medieval literature. No one of them wrote about King Arthur.
I bet it's the same for France, Spain, Germany and other european country. They all had their different lore. I'm sure King Arthur and his knights were really important for England, but french writers surely preferred Charle Magne and his paladins.

So yeah the thing non-british (or american) people know about Camelot are majorly from pop culture.
Now i don't mind at all knowing more, actually i would be happy to know more (seriously, tell me about this conquest of Rome!), but sadly the average person isn't so open to things they don't know about, see Kamigawa.

This set will have more in common with frozen from Disney than with shadowmoor, knowing wizards' modus operandi.

From the art it doesn't look like that. Honestly they are doing a pretty good job and while it feelbland and too obvious, Theros surely did it more.

I've gotten used to WOTC pandering to the identity politics left, so it no longer bothers me.

Man that's really funny. They are doing that to sell more. It's capitalism baby. They want to broad their customers audience by bringing in nonwhite and women. Because nonwhite and women have $$$. They want to hire nonwhite and women to help them create a product that will sell to them.
So if you want to blame something, blame the $$$

It's funny that this kind of topic pop up when a set like this... how can we say it? Different? Experimental? When a set like this pops up.
I'm not liking it very much, faerie tale is not one of my top tropes, i can even dare to say that fairy tale is somehow too girlish for me, but for sure i won't feel threatened as a cis white man because my game is trying something different.

posted a message on Major changes to Magic announced at SDCC? (New booster variants and premium styles)
The end of paper Magic tournaments is nigh. All the "pro" events and qualifiers will be through Arena starting in 2020. Profit margins are higher, and there's no need for judges or TOs, or to scrounge enough physical product on hand to supply players and have prize support.

I would also not be surprised if the announcement stated that "Throne of Eldraine" will be the last paper Magic product.

We'll going to make our own magic then, with blackjack and hookers

If this is true, I wonder how they are going to fit in characters from Magic's past. Considering how popular said characters are and how consistent they have been with this even outside Commander, this would be a no-brainer, so which ones could fit thematically with each ability?

Populate: Gaea, Mat'Selesnya, Kristina of the Woods
    Flashback: Ashnod, Leshrac, Sifa Grent
    Morph: Belbe, Ugin (Pre-Spark)
    Madness: Anje Falkenrath, Ramaz

Just some rough ideas, of course. Any others I missed?

We'll probably get a new version of Ixidor for morph

The number of people that defend Iona baffles me.

    Lol
    people defended primeval titan
    people defended sylvan primordial
    people defended prophet of kruphix

There is always someone who want to use the broken card for the easy win and finally games are over can't get over it and work a little to find a new broken toy.

I wish Sheldon&con would ban more often because of the funny, dumb comments that are said after every announce.
While nothing will ever be funnier than the discussion regarding sylvan primordial, this is getting pretty fun too.
Iona lovers, i'm pretty sure your friends will still let you run her, since she's such a fun and fair card, no one will have a problem with that, right? Wink
