WizardMN posted a message on [[Official]] Unreleased and New Card DiscussionPosted in: Commander (EDH)
These cards do work well together. While you are correct that "attacks" means "declared as an attacker" (which means it triggers during the act of being declared an attacker), "attacks and isn't blocked" actually triggers during the Declare Blockers Step. This is out of necessity as it needs to wait until players get a chance to block in order to trigger. So, while the copy of Guiltfeeder is not declared as an attacker, it is attacking and (potentially) not blocked which does allow it to trigger in this case.Quote from Slarg232 »Quote from Gashnaw »
why would it not?Quote from ilovesaprolings »Does Gyrus trigger guiltfeeder?
The wording; "attacks" usually means it has to actually be declared as an attacker, though I'm not sure how "attacks and isn't blocked" is handled.
Judge!
509.5g. An ability that reads "Whenever [a creature] attacks and isn't blocked, . . ." triggers if no creatures are declared as blockers for that creature. It will trigger even if the creature was never declared as an attacker (for example, if it entered the battlefield attacking). It won't trigger if the attacking creature is blocked and then all its blockers are removed from combat.
You would assume correctly. No matter how we look at Arixmethes (as a land or creature), Solemnity prevents counters from being added. Since it has no counters, it will be a 12/12 right away.Quote from cyberium_neo »I presume Solemnity would allow Arixmethes to enter as a creature automatically? -

Monkey222 posted a message on Commander 2018 themes and artPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Tiro of Meletis »Essentially. Incidental and conflicting. When the first reaction to more info is dread (RE: Serra?), eh.
I agree with Autumn that the decks will likely be very good, if not the best we've gotten now that color restrictions have been lifted. They may even meet a vast number of our expectations. But even relative to past protocol, not the best management. And I'm saying this as someone who is bursting at the seams to see Theros art.
I think many people are missing that last year, we knew next to nothing for ages. We knew tribal, but not colours. We didn't know that Wizards was confirmed as one of the tribes until right before Inalla was spoiled. We had a fuzzy pic of the precon box that was leaked, and we couldn't be certain that the deck was Wizards. I remember UB Rogues being a strong contender for the last slot.I'm really happy that we have the themes. This means we have something to speculate on.
I understand your points. I wish they would go back to spoiling a card early. But they didn't. They gave us the themes, and I'm happy with that.
The product page said there would be walkers. Verhy mentioned Kamigawa. We were told that the stream would give us some art and the themes.
The stream gave us some art and the themes.
People in this thread have taken these 5 images to mean that WoTC lied about there being walkers in the product. Do you see why that's ridiculous? 5 images. No information about cards at all. They never said that they were not doing walkers. They never said that there would be no Kamigawa cards. They never said that that stream would reveal cards. They never said that they were going to give more information on the stream except for the art and the themes.
Your disappointment is from conflating three separate sources of information. Neither discounts the other. You (and others) took three separate sources of information and expected more than what they were given. That's on you.
Again, I wish they had given us more. A face card, a full card, a mechanic, a returning/new to paper character, but they didn't. They never said they were going to. Me expecting them to give that information in stream when they had told us the information they were giving us is completely unreasonable.
Also, expecting Gavin's comment to directly translate to the COMM decks is assuming too much as well. Who's to say they're not doing a Global Series: Japan and rehashing Kamigawa? Maybe a Spellbook: Tamiyo? Maybe a new supplemental product based on Kamigawa itself? Gavin doesn't only deal with Commander. -

Jhiora wasn't captian of the Weatherlight 300 years ago during the phyrexian invasion. She was the first captain, Sisay the captain at the time of the invasion was like the 6th or something. It actually being a millennium since she last captained the weatherlight is debatable but mostly pointless as almost no one would like it if they said "As she took the wheel of the Weatherlight for the first time in a 861 years, Jhoira knew she'd been right to restore the ship"Quote from ilovesaprolings »I don't know if it's off topic, but why on new Jhoira flavor text it's written "As she took the wheel of the Weatherlight for the first time in a millennium, Jhoira knew she'd been right to restore the ship"? Didn't the phyrexian invasion happened like 300 years ago? -

Nico Robin.
I like the card, it isn't flashy but repeatable draw on a body is always welcome. -

I like this sort of effect in multiplayer. Unless you're significantly ahead, it's probably enough deterrence to send that targeted removal at someone else's creature, rather than actually absorb removal itself. But it's not lightning greaves where it becomes a problem that must be dealt with. -

Mr_Lord_Mr posted a message on Thunderherd Migration Ben Hayes TwitterMay I ask why you enjoy it @Syzygylion? I get its nice to have a dino themed card but if you are playing any format but standard than you should just play something else and if you are playing standard is it good enough for the tribe? I personally don't like it, and that is nothing against you liking it, I just have to agree with others by asking why not actually give it a pay off for playing dinos? Dinos need support, they need good spells and I personally am not looking to put this into my dino edh deck because it is just worse than other cards. I am also personally upset to see more and more worse versions of cards printed. It just kills my desire to play standard. In the end you can like the card, there is nothing wrong with that, but I think the people who dislike it have raised valid reasons why that they are equally entitled to.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -
