I think this thread needs a reboot. The versions of URW and URB tempo always play 4 of delver, but many play no snapcasters at all. We could change the thread name to U/R/x Delver, or create new threads for Grixis and Geist aggro.
This!
I really hope someone could make a good UWR thread on here. The one on Mtgthesource is quite dead as well. Kinda odd, its a pretty good deck with sfm and geist..
I've had the exact question running around inside my head lately, and I've been thinking;
MIDGAME.DEC = Good cards all game long! When you're playing these kind of decks you're open to some hate in the lines of mana denial, mainly speaking of shardless bug, but then again, you gotta give some to get ... ALOT!
Shardless BuG Vs Death Blade:
BuG gives you the 3 color powerhouse packing Shardless Agent that enables SICK turn 3 plays. While Death Blade runs SFM and BoB giving you pure value in terms of plays. I dont think you can run wrong with any of these decks in any given meta, well Death blade looses to bug most of the time, so avoid BUG if you want SFM's etc. Also if you're in a meta where blood moon sees alot of play, you might want to opt with something else.
Jund VS Death and Taxes
I honestly dont have to much experience with these decks, but I know that they both are strong fair decks that can grind with the best of them, but you're not running blue, so why not just play Maverick?:P
Tempo.dec (Rug delver/UWR delver)= You PRAY on mistakes (stifle, daze, pierce) while trying to apply pressure with strong one drops, burn, and mana denial. The rug delver plays goyf that gives you the ability to stabilize in the early-mid game. In my opinion the problem with RUG atm is that its biggest creature, goyf, is that it keeps meeting GY hate in the form of Deathrite Shaman, RIP (played MD in U/W miracles and some blade lists), I've also seen some lists opting in to the Helm of obedience combo after sb, so the hate might just get greater. This shutdown your goose and goyf, leaving you with 4 delvers to win the game.
I feel like the UWR delver list playing Gaist of St. Draft and SFM makes them more potent going into the mid game and more resilient to GY hate, while also being able to applay the same pressure and possibilities to outplay your opponent.
Hey guys I picked up the Omniclash deck a little while back and recently did some gold fishing. Anyways I just wanted to share my results with you wizzards:
Rounds:30
Categories:
Kill round | counter backup | mulligan
3.8333 | 9/10 time | 16% of the games
thoughts regarding the deck:
I am pretty sure you can make this deck win consistantly close to round 3 every game with aggressive mulligans. (Goldfish mode of course).
The stats speaks for them self: 9/10 wins with counter backup, 2/3 games where I won without counter backup were turn 2.
Hello everyone, Long time lurker, first time poster.
I am looking to get into legacy and I am on a budget, I looked at the budget thread but im stuck deciding on Burn, Affinity or dredge. I want something that is good aganist combo, miracles, and Shardless Bug.
Also one day I hope to go to SCG opens. So something that would be good against the field.
Also was looking at something called parfait but it looks difficult to play with abrupt decay destroying your advantage engine.
Depending on your playstyle, personaly I've tried Burn and Affinity;
Affinity can have GOD games where you just can not loose, but it also suffers from being easy to "hate out" of the field with just a couple dedicated SB cards.
Burn is over all good, but it usally gets boring to play after a while.
Dredge seems fun to play, its challangeing and quite rewarding if done right. The "problem" with dredge is that every game you will be favored prior to sideboarding, after sideboarding you will have to play through alot of hate(most of the time since almost everyone got graveyard hate in their sb).
Also the printing of deathrite shaman has made things worse for dredge, same with decks packing rest in peace MD.
Personally I think dredge would still be able to do fine even though its not favored atm, and imo its probably the deck that will give you the best learning experince.
You can also use the Lion's Eye Diamonds in TES/ANT/other storm variants if you fancy those kind of decks.
I currently got; Merfolk, Omnitell, GW/X Maverick;
I kinda want to pick up another fun deck and I was thinking something in the likes of
Mono R Painter, dredge or maybe TES. I like the land safety of Omnitell and Painter seem kinda like it just with the amuseing bloodmoon and painter interactions....
First off; I'm not the creator of this deck, nor playing it at this time. I've just found this deck to look increadbly cool looking, and I need YOUR help to figure out if its whort spending time on it.
I'm so sorry about the poll not having the reanimator option, but I dunno why it didnt show up, I tried to fix it but I'm a newbie forumer so it turned out like it turned out to be!
Hello guys, I'm pretty new to merfolk. I got some questions for you guys.
I've playtested about 60 games vs rug and esper, the rug mu was about 55/60% in my favor while the esper was not in my favor at all, got alil better after sb but not much..
For the RUG MU it was all about keeping up with his delvers ( I think this MU could be 70% pre board, and prob around 50% after, depending on how much hate they got for u)
I felt like comander was AWESOME in this game beinge able to fly and all.
For the esper MU, I dont really know what to do I had him at 8 or less life every game, but he just manadged to kill lords and stabilize with flying tokens...
I won game with manriki and cursecatcher...
I also dont really like Kira that much, she seems abit clunky and not being a merfolk kinda makes me feel meh when I play her.. I think she fits well in the sb. I would prob try to play 2 reejery istead of her.
So I've decided upon sns, so all I gotta do is work up decent list and start testing, thank you guys! (feel free to keep the thread going, and contributeing with good lists)
I'd like to vote for Reanimator as well, the fatty deck I have chosen to build myself. Sneak/Show is a great deck (and may even be stronger in the meta) but I just feel... it's a bit boring to swing with the same 2 monsters all the time. Reanimator gets Entomb and a choice of silver bullet bombs, and it's faster.
Whether it's stronger I can't say, but it's the deck I would rather be playing.
I really love what you're saying, as I think this aspect is really important!
(the element of fun)
I would also like to thank all of you that have been rensponding to this thread as well.
So far I feel like incorperating something like 2 jace + some discard (surgical) instead of the snt packadge as I alternate win con.
same with the SNT decklists; the jace might help you overcome those surgicals etc.
You could probably change the forked bolt etc for some of the stuff you'd like to have instead. Owh and one thing I really liked seeing snapcaster, I really do think he can be a late game solution (when you run out of gass) and he operates at instant speed so yeah I would leave home without him!
This!
