Always remember to never overextend. For clarity on that, if you suspect it's coming fake having less ramp than you really do, and bait the explosions out, then rebuild and go from there.

hahaha truth. now only if there is some way to add extra attack steps.

Fireshrieker is also a thing. And there are plenty of ways to force lands to become islands (Quicksilver Fountain for example) so she can easily be consistently unblocked.

Riku decks should just see this card as mandatory. Especially ones that use Storm and Cascade heavily since both Storm and Cascade are triggered abilities as are both of Riku's abilities.

Just for anyone questioning whether or not Storm and Cascade are triggered abilities or not.

702.38a Storm is a triggered ability that functions while the spell is on the stack. “Storm” means “When you play this spell, put a copy of it onto the stack for each other spell that was played before it this turn. If the spell has any targets, you may choose new targets for any number of the copies.”

702.83a Cascade is a triggered ability that functions only while the spell with cascade is on the stack. Cascade means "When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card whose converted mana cost is less than this spell‘s converted mana cost. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that weren‘t cast on the bottom of your library in a random order."

From the reading of the rules it would seem that casting say, Mind's Desire with a storm count of 4 nets you 5 Mind's Desires, pay 2 more and get 4 extras for a total of 9. Just seems to me like it's a no brainer when either storm or cascade are involved.

Getting a bad land draw shouldn't really hurt that bad if you're running mana rocks. Which if you're building EDH in a "Standard/Modern" mindset yeah you're probably not thinking broadly enough. Give Mimeoplasm/Damia/Teneb Reanimator perhaps to give you access to more ramp options and a broader spectrum of options in general. Aside from that saying you can't do anything when you have Islands in your deck is just terribly sad.

  • posted a message on Is Tarmogoyf really a Green Staple in Commander?
You want to know what Tarmagoyf does in EDH? Eats removal and never gets reanimated. You want to know what JTMS does in EDH? Get everyone on the board swinging for his face before he can be activated a second time. Neither has enough impact in EDH to really matter.

  • posted a message on what are your feelings on land destruction?
Land destruction is appropriate in some situations. In this case it applied as a wincon that pretty much instantly won you the game since neither opponent could rebuild faster than you or even fast enough to actually recover from the Tajic swings. In general though it's more annoying than it is good. And while fun is subjective many players find it unfun. That said, I'm more concerned about mass LD than I am targeted LD. Targeted LD I see as being borderline mandatory in some instances just because Cabal Coffers, Homeward Path, Gaea's Cradle, Reliquary Tower, and other really really strong non-basic lands exist, and a well placed stone rain can completely turn a game around.

    Quote from Psathus
I consider tactical scooping an integral part of the game. If you've beaten somebody for the entire match and led them to become allies with the other players, if you last-minute Bribery them and have no use in the game? It's in their right to scoop as one last middle finger to you.

If they're going to combo off of your deck? Might as well let them take just you out and give the other players a fighting chance. It adds a valuable dimension to the game. It gives players that didn't get to do much all game a very valid option of offensive, and it helps fizzle targeted combos, which is healthier for a multiplayer game.

If someone is winning by comboing off of your things and you scoop you're a pretty poor sport. Granted the first point is more legitimate but ragescooping is basically all the second one is.

Yeah when people run Islands. It's really stale and redundant. "

That out of the way, perhaps they realized you had stopped bringing hate for a strategy they stopped using, so they started using the strategy again. Seems like an intelligent call to me personally, especially if you know your opponent isn't expecting it.

Well you will need your Vodka, and of course the Hammer of the Workers. Not to mention your Lenin inspired Vanguard to help protect your newfound system with the voice of the people from outside influences that would seek to break it down. Oh and you can't forget Trotsky.

I run Null Profusion with my Damia Ramp/Mill deck. Nothing quite like saying "I will never not have at least 7 cards in hand." Praetor's Counsel and anything that you can drop after it that removes hand size limits (Spellbook, Venser's Journel, Reliquary Tower, ect) makes it amazingly abusable.

"Prototype Portal, Imprinting Caged Sun." Next turn Rings of Brighthearth make 2 Caged Suns calling Red. Next turn 2 more and a Mycosynth Golem. Next turn 2 more and free cast my general Bosh and Shimmer Myr. In response to board wipe throw and cast bosh himself at the player until he died. Two more Caged Suns kill everyone else with repeatedly throwing Bosh with Bosh.

Since you're going for making it hurt anyway don't forget the Tainted Strikes.

Sen Triplets is what I use for my Voltron. I've got white's fantastic equipment support, blue's control and draw power plus it's artifact hunting capacity, and black's control and tutoring. Backing that up with Sen Triplets saying the person I choose to attack won't have any combat tricks to throw at me when I move in to attack him such as Condem and Fog and what not.
