  • posted a message on How do you feel about infinite combos?
I personally like more convoluted infinite combos. Basically the more pieces required the less annoyed I am because it usually gives everyone a few chances to respond. If you're running a deck with a 2 card combo and tutors/counterspell backup I won't really bother playing it more than once. If you're running a 3-5 piece combo that requires a certain boardstate or overwhelming advantage already I find that acceptable because it (should) lead to more interesting, interactive games.

  • posted a message on What is the "most fun for all" commander?
For table funsies I would put forth a Voltron style deck - They can be strong and weak at the same time! I had a Zurgo deck that I loaded with fun equipment, angels, and enchantments that worked very well. People could have fun killing Zurgo but with the density of threats I had Gisela or Aurelia could pick up the mantel and beat down the table.

  • posted a message on The Sportsmanship of Conceding
Scooping in response to a game winner is childish and unsportsmanlike. EDH is meant to be a social interaction and scooping in response is like giving the other player the finger because they made a better play than you.

  • posted a message on Do you use Partial Paris mulligans?
Partial all day long. When you only have an hour at lunch partial paris gets you into the thick of the game faster.

  • posted a message on What cards did you never expect to use in so many of your decks?
Strip Mine feels like it should be in all my decks despite the fact that I only have one copy. Not because I'm a monster but because there are just too many super utility lands that need to be destroyed.

  • posted a message on Bouncelands - Worth the Risk?
Not the biggest risk. For myself I'll usually strip mine a bounceland early game because of tempo swing. Late game there are many better targets (usually) and dropping them back 2 mana has very little effect unless they are manascrewed. They are usually a tier two target so you should feel safe about running a few.

  • posted a message on What Was Your First EDH Deck and What Deck are You Most Comfortable With Now?
My first EDH deck was Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician because I decided I liked destroying lands in this ramp heavy format. I'm most comfortable with Titania, Protector of Argoth which, while it destroy lands, is faster, rampier, and more fun to play with/against. Not having an invincible deck goes a long way towards making everyone enjoy the game.

I've always wanted to make a coin flip deck. However I feel it's one of those decks that's really fun to play once, pretty good twice, and then meh from there on out.

  • posted a message on Commander Tuck Discussion
I like the change. As someone on the more casual spectrum (Not a lot of combo, no "oppressive" decks) I found that getting my commander tucked is the single most frustrating thing to have happen. I hate having a Voltron deck that suddenly becomes a crappy highlander deck because someone tucked my commander.

Poor Zurgo. I may consider running in my Voltron Zurgo deck if my commander gets turned into a tree and for the laughs.

I'm liking Dromka. I play a lot of games where our decks get counter heavy and there's nothing like shutting down a blue player.

I've tried running it in my Grenzo deck so I would still have a tutor if I accidentally put it in the yard (and wasn't trying to make it combotastic). However it's just too expensive for what it does. I found that just optimizing towards synergy eliminated the need for this card.

Gristlebristle is bonkers. Think about it this way: MTG is a resource game and drawing cards gives you access to more resources. He allows you to do this at relatively little cost. Once he's down he's extremely difficult to respond to, lets you draw into combos, and worst case scenario is a 7/7 flying lifelink demon.

When I'm on my latest deck and don't want to buy/pull better lands out of my decks I use the gates. If you are looking to spend $0 for your manabase I would start here. Doesn't go in anything trying to be fast.

Aaron Forsythe just showed off Hero's Blade on Twitter.

Seems pretty good with aggressive generals.

Doesn't quite make the 7 power generals a 2 swing kill but it does bring weaker generals into 3 swing range. It also servers as a cloak and dagger backup in Grenzo.

Great for a budget. I'm not willing to shell out $$$ for better mana but $3 is pretty reasonable. The downside is offset by the fact that you start at 40 life, giving you plenty of time to draw other color options (like a signet). I'd play it in any dual/tri color deck as quick and easy fixing.
