I think it's hilarious that the "everyone else is fair game" made it in the reminder text. I think it's one of those things people will point to as the "unset-ification" of everything, but I like it:)
Actual road runners look so cool, I'm a little sad this one looks kind of weird. I'm all for making a fantasy version, I just wish the fantasy version looked as cool as the real thing.
Lasav is actually the aesthetic I was expecting from this set. I think there's enough of it showing up now that spoilers have started that I might be able to get over the goofier alternatives. Also, I really like plot the way they're doing it with situational cards that you usually need to play at a specific time, letting you pay for them now, and play them later when they're at their best. I was thinking I would sit this one out but, as always, they're drawing me in.
Sorry for the triple post, but I keep getting new ideas right after I post.
"Whenever combat damage from a creature an opponent controls or one of their spells or abilities causes a card altered or illustrated by RG to be put into your graveyard from anywhere you may draw a card and gain two life. If you do discard a card."
OK, which is best? What are the issues with any of them? Also anyone have fun ideas for a creative ward ability?
"Whenever an opponent causes a card altered or illustrated by RG to be put into your gy from anywhere you may draw a card and gain 2 life. If you do discard a card. (Your opponents spells, abilities, and their creatures combat damage cause cards to go to graveyards)"
I think that's 10ish less words. What do y'all think of either of those?
Yeah, I for sure only want it to trigger off of your opponents doing things. I don't want the owner being able to manipulate it.
I'm having a rough time with the wording! This is the best i could come up with: "whenever a spell, ability, or damage from a source an opponent controls causes a card illustrated or altered by RG to be put into your graveyard from anywhere you may draw a card and gain 2 life. If you do discard a card."
The problem is, I think that makes it sound like "any spell or ability "plus combat damage from opponents stuff"
I'm bad at punctuation. Is there a better way to punctuate it/tweek the wording to make it clear.
Also, I'd love to find a way to abbreviate the trigger as you pointed out, but I'm going for something that triggers off of mill or discard as well. If anyone has a better way to word the trigger that would be awesome.
Thanks for the feedback. I will think about the ward thing! It's another way to get more fun references into the card with an interesting ward. It was Terese Nielsen who got witch-hunted. This is a reference to the card Persecute Artist (that has this artwork in fact:)) That uncard is a reference to the fact that people like to hate on Rebecca's art because it's so "flowery" or whatever.
My buddy is a huge Rebecca Guay fan and I want to make him a 3 color commander to make a Rebecca Guay art deck. I designed this:
Rebecca, the Persecuted WUG
Summon Artist Legend
Shroud
Whenever a card featuring art or alterations by Rebecca Guay is put into your graveyard from anywhere, if it was put there because of a spell or ability an opponent controls or because of combat damage from a creature an opponent controls, you may draw a card and gain two life. If you do, discard a card.
1/5
I would like some feedback, I know this could be a powerful effect. Is it too powerful? If it is too powerful what can I do to keep the same design but reign it in (I'm going with an, "if you mess with Rebecca you'll regret it" vibe.) Let me know, thanks!
I have to disagree. Obviously, to each their own but I think these are cool. There are some misses but that's the case for any special treatment. I was not a big fan of the strained glass at all and a lot of people liked that one so clearly there's no accounting for taste.
Is there a reason I couldn't just cover the whole art on astroquarium with another card or a piece of paper or sharpie marker. It implies you do it by piling up art stickers but they're no rules saying I can't do those other things right?
I know right:)

That is great:) You deserve a prize:)
