It WAS fun to play sealed with, but out of one box, there was only one mythic rare. We did get a foil Cryptic Command which made us feel better about the cost, but this is NOT a set to buy packs for singles, buy the cards you want instead.
Being a terribly biased Doctor Who fan, the moment I saw this card I decided to do a quick and dirty face swap and hair color change with Amelia Pond from Doctor Who.
I just needed it good quality enough for some playtesting proxies, so the hair in particular is a little jaggy, but still happy with the overall outcome
I do miss mana burn, I dont really understand why it went away.
I don't understand why an effect like Exalted can stack, and an effect like Lifelink cannot, unification either way would make more sense.
I don't have any suggestions to adjust mana flood/screw, as managing your resources during deckbuilding helps for better decks. I think a better mana producing card pool would help better then a rules change (simpler, more accessable duel lands, colored mana producing lands with additional effects.) But just printing new cards isn't really an elegant solution either.
I got one of the common shufflers from Kmart, was like $7 (batteries cost more...) It works decently for unsleeved cards, but you dont want to put more then 25-35 cards in each side at a time. Edges will ding over time due to the way it shuffles, but I can't say it's worse then any other unsleeved shuffle method.
As far as randomization, some cards can 'stick', so repeat shuffles still has the same cards together, I recommed a lazy hand shuffler ever 1 or 2 shuffler shuffles, to break up clumps. Also, be sure the tops and bottoms of the deck are getting shuffled as well.
Unless there is a better brand out there, you wont be able to shuffle sleeved cards, the clearences are not big enough.
I had the same thought when I opened my fat pack, no mythics, no 'splashy' cards (freind and I each bought a fatpack with the intention of building sealed-like decks to play with) but after realizing I got 2 of the new rare duals, I didn't care so much about splashy cards, since I have solid trade fodder.
I think it would have been fine as-is if it searched X+1 cards. It could retain it's mana cost to avoid being played too early in standard or block, and still have felt like a solid option instead of a 'maybe' in EDH.
I have been an Angel collector (mtg angels only) since Ice Age, I used to run serrasrealm.com, I photoshopped up the 20 some MTGO Vanguard cards because I liked them years ago. I collected the Tenth Edition 'box toppers'. I have sets of the real Vanguard cards, Archenemy, and Planechase + promos. I have 21 unique spindowns, and dozens more of duplicates.
I hope they reprint some of the Commander product exclusive cards in there, the gold ones and non-gold ones. Though I kind of dread the idea of kaalia of the vast entering Standard right now.
helghast: Could you please point out any other legends that whern't printed in black borders besides those found in P3K? Either that or could you explain away the statement that wizards has made about this being the first time some legends will be black bordered? Unless you can, how about you stop trying to argue against facts okay?
Mystery solved! FTV: Legends will include the Anthologies 2/2 version of Mirri for the first time in black border!
Am I the only one who doesn't think Baneslayer Angel is the most likely suspect to be the Knights deck Mythic?
It's a good selling point, it's thematic, it helps out Knights in the air, still killable with burn spells.
DvD had Akroma, Angel of Wrath who had Protection from almost everything in the Demonic deck, and it was still printed.
EvT had Elspeth, Knight Errant which was very valuable in T2 and was about $30 on the secondary market at the time the decks where announced.
Phyrexia v The Coalition had Urza's Rage as the Mythic in The Coalition deck. Baneslayer arguably has a stronger connection to a knights deck then Urza's Rage does to The Coalition, thematically.
So based on past behaviors, and wanting to make the decks sell to veterans as well as people wanting good, premade decks, I think Baneslayer is so far the most likely suspect for the Knights Mythic, feel free to rip my post apart
They could also go G/W with the Knights, which invalidates my post entierly
I saw a couple others like that, I fear it may be due to how they are cut or sorted worries me buying a set online.

I still find the Helvault contents disapointing.
Hehe, keep in mind one of the legends in the Commander sets is "Nin, the Pain Artist" and ever her flavor text mentions instruments
NIN is the common band logo for Nine Inch Nails, I look forward to building a deck around Nin and calling it Pretty Hate Machine
