Was anyone really saying legends is a bad set? It's iconic as hell and has tons of powerful cards, maybe only second to alpha (although urza's saga puts up a good fight).
Not sure I'm convinced the legends rule is good (I don't even really see an argument that it is). Flavor-wise, it is (or at least used to be) a big win. These days...idk man. Having both versions of jhoira is fine, but having 2 of the same version isn't? Maybe it's supposed to be a multiple timelines thing, but then why can you and your opponent have one, but one poofs as soon as one switches sides? It feels like a top-down rule that's proven to be bad for gameplay, and at this point wotc is just trying to pay lip service to the flavor motivations while essentially destroying everything mechanically important about it.
really? all you need is a sac outlet with any one of a number of creatures, and it's nuts. And saffi is a great target for it too. imagine sylvan primordial with it, and a free sac outlet...or avenger of zendikar...
as previously mentioned, bounce works fine. and you can draw so many cards that it's probably worth it, even decent. and then with proliferate, bam.
I think the worst of the myojin is probably the red one. a 10 mana 7/4, with very few ways to get him divinified, plus he's red. White is a close second.
having played both geth and lazav extensively, while they're both fun, I think Geth is more fun.
Shimatsu is really bad, granted, but it still has the potential to one-shot someone out of nowhere at the end, if they're tapped out/topdecking and don't have blockers.
I don't think people start laughing, per se, at tuktuk, because he's a decent card in general, he's just awful as a red commander. If you want maximum lulz, you probably want someone from legends or homelands.
or captain's maneuver while blocking.
Also, yore-tiller nephilim.
an extra turn is still an extra turn no matter how it was gotten. I would be shocked and amazed if there was any way to go infinite.
it still seems quite good, though. not thrilling but strong.
wow, really? source?
relying on kami numbers, there were like 100 generals available. I'm guessing the number won't be THAT large, but probably around 60, based on nothing whatsoever. Then add in the likely 15 (2x 5 shards, 1x 5 pairs) from the next commander set.
my vote is 75.
my legend collection's going to get a lot bigger, i suspect. which means i'll have to draft REEEAAALLLY badly to pick up all the legends I need
EDIT: or are we just talking this set + commander? in that case, I'll figure more like 40-45. Let's call it 43.
Overall, she seems efficient but not good general material, outside of a generic control deck that doesn't care about the general.
Except that 1) he has very few sac outlets, making it very unreliable, and 2) there are other dragons that do a similar effect way more reliably and without definitely killing zirilan. Thunder dragon, for example, is pretty decent in zirilan since it doesn't kill zirilan but still wipes a lot of tokens.
This is just the way I play the deck, but I really prefer to have a lot - LOT - of sac outlets. This lets you use hoarding dragon reliably, and then you can use it to get reito lantern so you can recycle dragons, and use hoarding to go get illusionist's bracers, and mana doublers, and then just swing in for 100+ damage. It can make you more reliable on artifacts, though.
Alternately, the combo route, using hoarding to get SoFaF, and then hellkite charger for the win (with 9 mana and at least 7 lands)
i.e. I run thran dynamo in Geth and love it. Whereas it's much less exciting in Zirilan, but I run coalition relic instead. But if your curve is low, signets are going to be very useful, especially if you run a lot of colorless utility lands. Without seeing your list, generally I would advocate dynamo, followed by powerstone, followed by chalice, followed by signet.
either way, sisay's ring is obviously worse than dynamo, not sure why that's even on the list.
Otherwise I think it'd be worded like this, which seems more intuitive:
As long as you have five devotion to blue, Thassa is a 5/5 creature.
But because of the wording, she's a legal general.
Assuming edition doesn't matter, obviously.
My personal top are JTMS, 10/10 duals, mana crypt x2, mana drain, 10/10 fetches, and Xiahou Dun (p3k english).
