Hmn. I'm not sure if that aura is good enough in my saffi deck. It's great in a meta where people want to kill your stuff all the time, but I like having more control over when my creatures die. I already have a bunch of sac outlets. I'm not sure I want a card that doesn't do a lot by itself unless I also have a sac outlet out. At that point I might as well run another combo. Don't get me wrong this card is great, just not for Saffi imo.

really? all you need is a sac outlet with any one of a number of creatures, and it's nuts. And saffi is a great target for it too. imagine sylvan primordial with it, and a free sac outlet...or avenger of zendikar...

personally, if we were to ban anything, my vote goes to pestilence. it just centralizes games like crazy. but I'm ok with no banlist...it's prettier that way.

Myojin of Seeings winds would at least be passably possible if you throw in blue's artifact tutor package to get That Which Was Taken. It'd actually be fairly easy to get. At very least, you've got Transmute Artifact, Reshape and Fabricate that can tutor TWWT, and then other tutors which can get those.

Not saying it would be GOOD, just that it would work. XD

as previously mentioned, bounce works fine. and you can draw so many cards that it's probably worth it, even decent. and then with proliferate, bam.

I think the worst of the myojin is probably the red one. a 10 mana 7/4, with very few ways to get him divinified, plus he's red. White is a close second.

If the future is their graveyards, seems like Geth is sort of the king of that stuff.

having played both geth and lazav extensively, while they're both fun, I think Geth is more fun.

Since no one has named him yet, tuktuk the explorer is pretty epically bad. He only gives you the token if he hits your grave...and then in mono-red you've got close to zero ways to get him back (and zero reliable ways to get him back). And his token doesn't count as general damage. Otherwise, he's just a 3 mana 1/1 that forces you into red. eww.

Shimatsu is really bad, granted, but it still has the potential to one-shot someone out of nowhere at the end, if they're tapped out/topdecking and don't have blockers.

I don't think people start laughing, per se, at tuktuk, because he's a decent card in general, he's just awful as a red commander. If you want maximum lulz, you probably want someone from legends or homelands.

shaman en-kor + mirrorwood treefolk + goblin diplomats? or maybe just treacherous link + goblin diplomats? not really infinite, but great for lulz.

    or captain's maneuver while blocking.

    Also, yore-tiller nephilim.

You mean besides the repeat offenders Conjurer's Closet and Deadeye Navigator? Unless they word it where the new object can't attack if it has that name.

an extra turn is still an extra turn no matter how it was gotten. I would be shocked and amazed if there was any way to go infinite.

it still seems quite good, though. not thrilling but strong.

They announced Theros was going to have more legendary than nonlegendary permanents. I figure a big amount will indeed, be creatures.

    wow, really? source?

relying on kami numbers, there were like 100 generals available. I'm guessing the number won't be THAT large, but probably around 60, based on nothing whatsoever. Then add in the likely 15 (2x 5 shards, 1x 5 pairs) from the next commander set.

    my vote is 75.

my legend collection's going to get a lot bigger, i suspect. which means i'll have to draft REEEAAALLLY badly to pick up all the legends I need :p

EDIT: or are we just talking this set + commander? in that case, I'll figure more like 40-45. Let's call it 43.

Thassa seems interesting, but I can't think of any substantial way to build around her. scry 1 per turn? decent for 3, but not really very thrilling, hard to abuse except for a handful of cards that care about the bottom card of your library. unblockability for 2? again, decent, but not exciting, there are less expensive ways to do the same thing. 5/5 body for 3 potentially...but if you go voltron, your equipment doesn't help animate her, so you can't go heavy artifact, and you can't enchant her with creature auras until she's already animated. Indestructibility is nice, but it doesn't protect from tuck, so i'd prefer shroud or hexproof myself.

Overall, she seems efficient but not good general material, outside of a generic control deck that doesn't care about the general.

It's mono red aggro, the deck is already reliant on artifacts. Ryusei isn't terrible. Sometimes 5 to everything is what you need to keep going.

Except that 1) he has very few sac outlets, making it very unreliable, and 2) there are other dragons that do a similar effect way more reliably and without definitely killing zirilan. Thunder dragon, for example, is pretty decent in zirilan since it doesn't kill zirilan but still wipes a lot of tokens.

why are you running nalathni dragon? actually why are you running so many dragons in general? A lot of those seem pretty subpar. i don't like ryusei with zirilan on the ground. nalathni is just super bad though. The dragons you really want are hoarding, dragon tyrant, hellkite tyrant, bogardan hellkite, changeling berserker, utvara hellkite, steel hellkite, balefire dragon (or some other mass-creature-damage dragon) and usually either hellkite charger or moonveil for big games where you need a lot of damage. The rest are usually unnecessary.

This is just the way I play the deck, but I really prefer to have a lot - LOT - of sac outlets. This lets you use hoarding dragon reliably, and then you can use it to get reito lantern so you can recycle dragons, and use hoarding to go get illusionist's bracers, and mana doublers, and then just swing in for 100+ damage. It can make you more reliable on artifacts, though.

Alternately, the combo route, using hoarding to get SoFaF, and then hellkite charger for the win (with 9 mana and at least 7 lands)

depends on the CMC of your important cards.

i.e. I run thran dynamo in Geth and love it. Whereas it's much less exciting in Zirilan, but I run coalition relic instead. But if your curve is low, signets are going to be very useful, especially if you run a lot of colorless utility lands. Without seeing your list, generally I would advocate dynamo, followed by powerstone, followed by chalice, followed by signet.

either way, sisay's ring is obviously worse than dynamo, not sure why that's even on the list.

Anyone else think it's interesting that the god design clearly has EDH in mind?

Otherwise I think it'd be worded like this, which seems more intuitive:

As long as you have five devotion to blue, Thassa is a 5/5 creature.

But because of the wording, she's a legal general.

I believe Imperial Seal, Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, and workshop are the top 3 available in EDH, but I could be wrong.

    Assuming edition doesn't matter, obviously.

My personal top are JTMS, 10/10 duals, mana crypt x2, mana drain, 10/10 fetches, and Xiahou Dun (p3k english).
