My Heartless Summoning deck that I've been running for several weeks now includes a small splash of white and elesh norn. It seems to be working pretty well, and I honestly believe it to be the best Heartless Summoning combination I've seen so far. Here it is:

Based around Dungrove Elder, Strangleroot Geist, and Garruk to beat face. Triumph of Ferocity is a great tech I found and helps you not run out of gas later in the game.

The deck's also pretty cheap, clocking in at around $100.

Elves>Birds because of interaction with Triumph, and since there are no Swords in the deck, flying isn't as useful as the point of power. If you put in Swords I'd replace the Elves with Birds.

Silverheart is a sort of silver bullet with GSZ, the ability to tutor for him late game is very nice.

Some personal opinions, given I also run a Mono Green List:
Remove Viridian Emissary and replace with Birds. Emissary is only good if it dies, Birds is cheaper to play and gives you ramp that you can use the next turn. Allows for a more aggressive deck.

You also have a lack of any big drops. Thrun, Acidic Slime, Vorapede are all cards that should be heavily considered. You are a Mono green deck, the thing you do best is ramp. The best thing to do with ramp is play big creatures.

Also, if you're going to run a planeswalker, Primal Hunter is better than Relentless in this type of deck. You get a bigger token with Primal, and you can use him for insane card draw with your big dungrove elder or whatever other creature you have out. He fits this style much more than relentless does.

Also, I'd consider running a card like Overrun or Revenge of the Hunted. Your Dungrove Elder can be chump-blocked for days, and Geist isn't going to get you there. Those cards allow you to get over the top and push through the last bit of damage.

I hardly think that "Alcohol and Smoking are more detrimental to your health" is a valid argument. Whether something SHOULD be legalized and whether it's PRACTICAL to legalize it or even worth it are two totally different things. They tried de-legalizing alcohol, and that got them nothing but trouble, hence why they repealed it.

To be honest, it's a matter of whether or not the government has the right to limit behavior that could be made to be self destructive. Fundamentally, I would say that it's in each person's right to perform behavior and it's up to them whether to perform self-control. However, given that society would degenerate faster than people realize, and the highly addictive natures of most drugs even after one use, I feel it's impertinent to protect the general public from it. I would even say that pot is one of those drugs, as the effects it has on people can be detrimental, and I would say that it's more addictive than people care to admit. When people who smoke pot constantly complain that they're not smoking pot, it's a bit of a problem.

Hanweir Lancer perhaps? Not really a card I would run, but a possibility. Though a Noble or Berserker with First strike does sound a tad scary...

Gotta love it when a 1 drop is being compared to 7 drops and titans. Aren't the arguments against Devil actually proof that he's good? At least he lives against Elesh Norn, Guide just dies on impact. That obviously makes Guide terrible, right?

*sigh* what's with the entitlements here? Is this what we've become, a bunch of misers grasping at free stuff? There is always gonna be someone luckier than you. Someone is going to have something you don't have. Wizards could just have easily put nothing in your helvault.

This thread has kind of gotten silly. It's gone from the card to debates over whether MTG should be more cautious about offending people. MTG cannot and should not worry about offending the minority. Our nation today is so obsessed with political correctness that it's become stifling. People are now only looking for something to be offended by. Sometimes you only see something because you want to see something.

I think this is a huge overreaction (as has been said). Is this assault? Yes. I think that was made quite clear. However, there's absolutely nothing sexual stated in this picture. The fact that his leg is placed between her legs is a stretch in terms of trying to make it sexual. There only seeing a controversy that isn't actually there. Just because it's a male on a female does not allow for the presumption that it's sexual assault.

I find it funny that people are worried about defending yourself until you get to ten mana. Are they assuming that the things you're playing are strictly ramp? Is Primevial Titan that weak of a creature? Can I not play a fatty early? Are they going to let me resolve a Titan just so they can hold a counter for the Primal Surge I may or may not have? This card is meant to be the final nail in the coffin, but there's no rule that says you can't win with the creatures and permanents that you've already played. :3

    My friend is curious:

When you play Angel of Glory's Rise, does that just exile the zombies on the battlefield, or also ones in the graveyard?

Ditch the Hellriders, you won't need them. Run 4 Postmortem Lunges, a couple more Brimstone Volleys, 2 more Mana Leaks, and then you might be good, but as you are right now, very meh.

Skinshifter is a bad card for you?
    what happened to magic nowadays?
if I pay 1 for my creature it must be a birds or delver?
If I pay 2 it must be a snapcaster?
3 mana for geist, blade splicer and the rest is trash?

You can keep loving to vapor snag the skinshifter.
You lost one card to make me tap 3 manas and lose 1 life. You better kill me fast because you cant hold the game forever.

whatever you say about vapor snag, only delver play it, the rest of the 75% of the metagame dont.

So you better find another reason to call it a junk card.

    How about this?:
It's a slow card compared to Strangleroot Geist. The Haste is quite relevant.

Tragic Slip, Gut shot (or any burn for that matter, but gut shot is easily splashed) are both forms of removal that run rampant in this format currently that laugh at him.

Plus you have to devote mana to him. So why you're slowing yourself down by paying that one mana, I'm busy using that mana to Green Sun, or play Vorapede, or any other spell that's better. He slows you down for a mediocre effect. Not worth your time nor your resources. He's two mana for an accumulative upkeep of 1G (essentially.)

Can't go wrong with adding Birds of Paradise, especially if you're wanting to splash, though if you're running Dungrove Elder you don't want to add too many non-Forest Lands. I also heavily recommend Strangleroot Geist. He's only an uncommon, but he's an awesome 2-drop. Would also recommend Green Sun's Zenith, Acidic Slime, and Vorapede. Thrun, the Last Troll is good against control. The only flyers you really need to worry about are a mass of flying spirits, so Corrosive Gale or Ratchet Bomb should be enough.
Bellowing Tanglewurm is good for pushing through the last bit of damage, as is Overrun. I also like Prey Upon as targeted creature removal, as most of the time, your creatures are bigger and better.

Hope this helps! I can also answer any other questions you have about this deck.

Where is everyone getting the 12/12 for 5? I'm certainly not seeing it. I only see 8/8, and that's with a creature already being out in your field.
