I think Last Hope is going to see play in Modern. Wrecks infect and Affinity, neuters Kird Apea s and Goblin Guides all while threatening against Control to win the game going long.
Sure it doesnt disrupt, but that is why LotV exists. Also Thoughtseize and company do jusy fine.
Having read all the mtg novels, comparing and contrasting them is fairly easy to do. Many storyline have so many similarities and try to set themselves apart, often failing miserably. Scott McGough has 3 times, count them 3 times switched the way the magic storyline was going. We had his first book, the anti-hero Chainer (first anti-hero black we had seen since...Volrath or Ertai in Nemesis? Been awhile) first time we had gotten away from the whole "impending doom" storyline. And of the Oddessy cycle, Chainer's Torment is widely regarded as the best book in the cycle. Then they gave him his own trilogy because they liked his flavor so much, the well known side story Legends II. Who didn't like that stuff? The OG Tetsuo realizes he's been fighting on the wrong side, and goes up against over-confident (to a fault) Elder Dragon Nicol Bolas. They FURTHERMORE like THAT so much, that they gave him ANOTHER trilogy, this time in main arch. And they even let him pick up the Umezawa name again. How's that for damned good?
So in closing Edgecrusher, everyone else likes Kamigawa block for various reasons, but many for one of the best BEST main characters ever, and our favorite black hero/anti-hero Toshi Umezawa.
It was a very DBZ-like battle between OK and the twins, but i'm sure most of you have the book and are now reading it before returning to discuss it. Ill be around a bit longer...ill be dissappearing until either Zazdor appears or Ravnica comes out, the novel cover looks awesome btw nice LOGO!
I actually just began running a g/w control deck, and i was thinking you could run a similar version with enchantments. Rev up the mana accell like i have with sylvan scrying, add Urzatron, and instead of tooth why not set up yourself an epic spell? Put honden into play, in ext. i love the decree interaction. Sneak attack? ehh, MIchiko is vicious though. Although prone to burn, if u make her untargetable via kabuto r greaves, she becomes sooo painful
