Some friends and I are going on a winter survival excursion today through Sunday. If I get our 2nd pack before 3pm PST today I will post it, otherwise Team Gutterskulk will pick up around 6PM PST Sunday.
Two Orzhov rares, and good orzhov commons. I think servitude is a bit too narrow for limited, pretty sure we take the beef thrull and try to wheel pet, syndic, rat or possibly servitude. Other colors don't really have much to offer aside from Ivy Lane Denizen.
I just wanted to create a welcome thread for our team to sound off.
I will be creating a name thread as soon as I take care of infant needs this morning. Please feel free to leave team name suggestions here to be collected for consensus. They can be Gatecrash related, Ravnica related, Magic related, have nothing to do with magic, or be completely random. Semantics has already suggested Team Gutter Skulk, as an example.
I'd rather deal 4 direct damage to my opponent than give double strike to my 2/2 double strike that already has double strike, but maybe that's just me.
Anyway, Boros Charm, while a killer in constructed (i.e. in more focussed decks) is indeed only good in limited. Gruul Charm, on the other hand, rocks - the second mode can be very handy against Act of Treason (obviously getting your army through for the last few damage or shooting down some Drakewings and Cloudfin Raptors is very welcome as well).
Me too. If you read the post I quoted you will understand why I pointed that out.
The double strike mode is almost irrelevant. Your deck needs a creature with 5+ power for the double strike mode to deal more damage than the damage mode.
You need a 2/2 double strike to equal its damage mode.
And the answer is....we'll know what we know when we know it. History has proven that sealed release events have very little similarity to their following draft environment. Speculating as to whether or not it will be better or worse than other formats is pointless.
Sure it is. If they have calculated they have to mill 40 cards and you are playing 41 they come up short and you get an extra turn to try and win. Granted it doesnt always work, but its been working for me as of late. I play 24/17 (23/18 if my curve is high).
Counting on either your opponents being terrible, or running a mill deck, is terrible.
Why did you decide to.run rootbound crags instead of compelling gorges? It seems like this deck would much rather consistently play the first 3 lands untapped.
I foresee its value going much higher when were drafting RTR/GTC/DMZ.

I'm on the same boat, we could be team gobbledeegook and that would be fine. I'm down with Team Gutterskulk.

I look very forward to playing together, teamG.

I will also greatly admire Shambleshark for its creature type. Fish crabs? Yes please.
