I feel slightly inspired after looking at "Bump In The Night" to make a B/R mana burn deck.

For some reason, I'm a bit eh about this card. It's great for FB and the other GY, but at the same time, something just doesn't feel right about this card....

Like it is only one piece of something else? I get that feeling about it like something within Innistrad is supposed to make it...better in a way.

Huh this spirit looks pretty awesome. Throw in one of the big Eldrazis from RISE and you could easily have a safety net with this spirit that prevents you from losing the game due to self-mill in any format, but limited, that would allow the two in the same deck.

    Quote from MakoEyesX
This is going to sounds pretty cynical, but honestly, you should just stop reading reactions on this forum. I don't spend as much time on salvation as i used to, because the interesting points are too far buried beneath complaints of all kinds.

I usually just pop into the rumor mill, look at the new cards, and then get out as soon as i can.

You sound like you know what you're looking for, so why bother arguing with other people about it online?

    This person speaks the truth!

Trust me it's not worth arguing points, advantages, disadvantages, etc with other people on the internet. You can argue all you want with the people on here but eventually when three posts after yours someone else brings up the exact same flaw with a card its like going back to square one. Get my drift?

It gets boring, repetitive, and aggravating.

Even I only use this forum as a means to garner information on something. Like for instance I would have never thought of using Angel of Flight Alabaster with Sustaining Spirit.

I personally don't like looking through the 13+ pages worth of text where either people just state it's Good or Bad.

  • posted a message on So Many Awful Names
    Quote from Artificer Andy
Anyone else constantly find themselves saying "What!?" when you read the name of a newly spoiled card for this set? Did R&D just run out of ideas or are they purposefully naming the cards so strangely? The biggest examples so far, imo:

    Wooden Stake
    Angel of Flight Alabaster
    Mirror-Mad Phantasm
    Endless Ranks of the Dead

Lets rename Wooden Stake as: "Pointy Stick of Vampire Slaying"
Lets rename Endless Ranks of the Dead as: "Semi-Endless Ranks of the Dead".

    Okay I will be serious.

Mirror-Mad Phantasm makes sense. It's a deranged spirit that seeks to harm the sanity of the humans that live within the same mansion in order to save it's own metaphorical-skin from what it sees as impending danger.

Angel of Flight Alabaster makes sense if you think about it. It might be the name of the place the dead are supposed to go but are brought back from, the graveyard. It's probably referenced in some holy texts at the missing angel's churches.

Wooden Stake. Why is that weird? You might as well be questioning the naming of Blazing Torch. It's very flavorful with the set "MTG Meets Classical Horror".

Finally Endless Ranks of the Dead. Whats not to love about that? Sure they could have called it "Army of the Dead" but that would be dangerously close to the sorcery that makes 13 zombie tokens and has flashback, Army of the Damned. It is the MTG equivalent of every Zombie Invasion.
(World War Z, Shawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, etc)

    Grimgrin, Coprse-Born 3BU
Legendary Creature - Zombie Warrior (Mythic)
Grimgrin, Corpse-Born enters the battlefield tapped and doesn't untap during your untap step.
Sacrifice another creature: Untap Grimgrin and put a +1/+1 counter on it.
Whenever Grimgrin attacks, destroy target creature defending player controls, then put a +1/+1 counter on Grimgrin.
    5/5

    Lets Discuss this thing.

If you got two zombies + Endless Ranks of the Dead + This Guy = It will always be ready to charge into fray (Swiftboots or Lightning Greaves). Plus she will always have Pseudo-Vigilance if you have extra zombies that can be tossed away.

He's in the same colors as stuff like Lich Lord of Unx, Cemetary Reaper, and Geth, Lord of the Vault.

Or you could embrace this and reveal your picks on purpose. If you slam a good werewolf card first pick for the rest of the table to see, the people to your left are going to avoid those colors. Even if the people on your right start to hate draft you, you'll be able to switch colors easily, effectively making them waste their picks stopping you from building a deck you weren't going to build anyway.

I don't see this revealed information as an entirely bad thing. There are ways it can affect the draft without straight-up "ruining" it.

That is what I agree with.

Besides how is the game supposed to feel like it has that fresh kick in flavor with each new block if not a lot of change is happening? I would rather play with the new block and enjoy it rather than worry if my game is getting ruined or worse, dies out.

    Wait, Wlb9z.

Your comparing a creature centric artifact with big beat creatures to a Sorcery that provides 26 power worth of creatures to the battlefied that entered the battlefield tapped.

That is truly apples to oranges.

It has it's applications in powerful ways but it's not through T2 tinted glasses where yesterday's joke is today's comeback.

  • posted a message on Is anyone sick of all the love blue is getting?
I'm still waiting for my one mana hard couterspell with no drawback or restriction. Yet that will never come to be because WOTC learned that giving blue so potent tools throws the balance of the game out of whack.

If one color got nothing but it's specialty good stuff like Blue over the course of nearly two decades you get Legacy or Vintage.

I do like this card very much. For once I gotta agree, it feels like the Zombie Invasions that you read and watch about where it just feels like the hoard is unending.

As for it rounding down, it's negligible. The only time that part of the ability will ever come up is if the amount of zombies you control is an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, etc).

For Reference: Ghosts of the Innocent.

I do love me some Zombie Infestation + two Moans of the Unhallowed + Endless Ranks of the Dead.

No combos yes, but that new Black Priest that makes demons works well in terms of synergy.

Wow. This combined with the new Stitcher's Apprentice card and two other creatures guarantees a 5/5 demon each turn.

  • posted a message on the Fight mechanic is named stupidly and doesn't make sense.
Arena, Cyclops Gladiator, and other cards all incorporate the "FIGHT" mechanic but those have been around before the mechanic.

Though I do agree with Makoeyesx as that does make it sound a bit cooler.
I.E: Whenever Cyclops Gladiator attacks, you may have it rumble with target creature. (Each deals damage equal to its power to the other.)
