I noticed you don't really run mana dorks. Do you not like how weak they are to board wipes? Are they too low-impact? Are you comfortable doing nothing turn 1 and feel confident that your deck can still ramp up to big stuff before your opponents get set up?

Trying to build an Omnath deck myself and I know it's an incredibly flexible deck. However my other generals are Norin and Brago, which are control/lockout decks, so I'm not too familiar with this strategy in EDH. Thanks for your input!

Here's my work in progress (currently just trying to cut it down to 99 cards): http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/omnath-locus-of-big-dudes/

Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as you play it as the last spell before tendrils (hard sometimes I know) they don't have an opportunity to decay before you tendrils.

This is true, but then you have no chance to use a hellbent Infernal Tutor.

If I don't have access to either Ports or Wastes is Mutavault an acceptable substitute?

    Short answer: No.
Mutavault does not serve the same purpose as Wasteland/Rishadan Port. Waste and Port are in the deck to slow down the opponent and lock them out of colors as we grind out card advantage. Mutavault would serve a purely aggro function, and that is not what we want in a Goblins deck, as we don't have the same kind of lords as say Merfolk does.

not a big fan of vial in a non ravager deck as its basically a dead card after turn 3 if you don't have 1 opening hand

Vial is HUGE late-game when you get it to 4. Leave it there until you topdeck a Ringleader, Vial him in, and use your mana to cast all of the goblins you get off the top. Some situations you can also tick it up to 5 (usually if you already have SGC in hand), Vial in Siege-gang, and use your mana to shoot the cannon that same turn before they can deal with him.

You don't need to have Vial in your hand in the first few turns for it to be useful. Goblins is a grindy deck, and while I don't want to topdeck a Vial on turn 14, it's still a great help after turn 3.

That's the answer, Tietze Goblins runs just a single Plateau and not even really that many fetches. I tried for a very brief time to run a white card in the board with that base, but as one expects, it was often uncastable.

Couldn't the same theory be applied to Krosan Grip? Though there is hardly a comparable replacement, it is often uncastable when you need it.

Haha, this thread always seems to get quiet when SCG is coming to a city near me.

Why does Tietze run Relic of Progenitus over Rest in Peace? I get that it's a one-drop, but I thought we established that RiP was way stronger. Does the card draw really outweigh the complete shutdown of gy based decks?

Tietze also runs 3 basics. I feel very uncomfortable with only 3. 4 feels like a much more natural and much safer number. I was thinking of cutting a Port to make my land base look like this instead:
    4 wasteland
    4 cavern of souls
    4 mountain
    3 rishadan port
    1 plateau
    1 taiga
    6 fetch

on red elemental blast...is there any difference between it and pyroblast? i see that the oracles are slightly different, but i dont think they actually do different things. but everybody seems to prefer reb. why?

Misdirection can change the target of Pyroblast to a spell/permanent that is not blue. REB cannot be misdirected if there are no other blue options on the stack/battlefield. Thus, a misdirection essentially counters a pyroblast, but does little to nothing against an REB (at least in our deck).

That being said, some decks CAN use pyroblast's different wording to their advantage. It can be cast and fizzled to increase storm count, add cards to the graveyard (threshold), or reduce number of cards in hand (ensnaring bridge).

a well-timed alpha strike using Goblin Pyromancer as an unexpected finisher.

Be careful. They can Crop rotation into Glacial Chasm or Repeal a Piledriver before damage. If you are casting/Vialing a Goblin Pyromancer, you'd better have a Skirk Prospector or Siege-gang Commander to sacrifice it to before the end step.

SoFaI, MOM and thalia are all solid against goblins.

Thalia does next to nothing against Goblins. In fact, the best thing your Thalia will do is blow up their Thalia, as many Goblins players are turning to a white splash for her.

lordofthepit23 is correct in that Jitte is very powerful. KotR and Ooze are solid as well, but can easily eat a Gempalm Incinerator without MOM to back them up, so be careful playing into that. Dueling Grounds is a nice trick against Goblins and will shut down many decklists, but there is often a Siege-Gang Commander or two in their 60 to play around it. Thrun is a solid beater against them as the black splash is uncommon nowadays so Warren Weirding is not much of a concern.

Everyone who wants to play this deck should read Adam Prosak's recent SCG article in which he gives a Primer of ANT. It is really a spectacular article, and deserves to be Premium content, but fortunately for cheapo's like me, it's free.

supreme verdict: tell me an opponent that keep his creature in hand against your deck...noone

As a seasoned Goblins player, if I already have a strong board state, I will definitely stop casting Goblins unless I need to. A good Goblins player always has a Matron or Ringleader in hand to reload against decks with wipes (anything UW, W, Bx). It's what makes the deck so powerful.

So I've been really digging Prosak's list,

    http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=1098263

but I've been wondering how to best deal with Show and Tell.dec. Am I correct in hoping that I can use Duress/Cabal Therapy to disrupt their combo pieces as quickly as possible, and try to blast through their counterspells?

EDIT: Also, Leyline of Sanctity is a b*tch. I can wait for a Chain of Vapor, but in the meantime they just hoard counterspells and are immune to my disruption.

Going to my LGS for monthly Legacy this Friday, and I was thinking about digging up my Dredge deck (pun not intended). Its current form is Quadlazer, but the last few pages here seem to suggest that Dread Return is making a comeback. I don't have access to the Painter's Stone sideboard transformation, unfortunately. What's the deal? Is it a meta call? Or did everyone realize how boring Quadlazer is?

Save your Swords for back breaking boosters like Priest of Titania, or maybe even Heritage Druid if it is their only way of tapping Nettle Sentinels for mana. Submerge and Engineered Explosives from the SB could give you a fighting chance to slow them down beyond recovery. Get out a Jitte as quickly as possible.

    Goblins

Removal should target Turn 1 Lackey, Piledriver, and Warchief, in that order. Counterspells are essentially worthless in this matchup, as Cavern of Souls makes it so you can only counter Aether Vial. Counter Aether Vial. Side out as many counters as you can, bringing in Engineered Explosives, Path to Exile, and Krosan Grip. Get out a Jitte as quickly as possible.

Can you guys help me put together a build for my friend that runs Restoration Angel and Thragusk?

You're better off in Standard imo.
