I rather they looked at expanding the player base in each formats wit the reprints and reexamining the ban / restricted lists rather than making pointless new formats.
Thankfully with great reprints at rare to go with normal pack prices this set won't feel a waste. It also helps that you will be able to draft the set for 15 dollars unlike Master 25 which was 25 - 30 dollars a draft.
Even if they legally could or can do that, there's still the spirit of the promise itself. They find any way to cirvumvent the R-List, they're breaking that promise in spirit by exploiting technicalities and coming off as insincere. The only way Wizards is ever going to abolish the List is if every living collector collectively grants them their blessing to do so.
So, if you want the List to go away, you need to write up a petition, track down a good majority of collectors, and somehow convince them to sign a petition that allows Wizards to reprint valuable cards they've been holding on to and trading for years.
And if by a miracle that actually happened, I'd be fine with the List going away. But then, I'm not a collector.
WOTC would not need the permission of every collector, let alone any of them for that matter. Finding loopholes or not, they have changed their minds on details of the reserved list multiple times throughout the years without anyone's consent , and all they need to do is come out with an announcement that they are taking it away or not, etc. It is as simple as that to reverse it, but the process in particular that would lead to that notion would not be for obvious reasons as you were alluding to. WOTC is well aware of the problems that the list has caused over the years and I am pretty sure if they could, they'd reverse time and take it all back, contrary to what collectors back then would have said of them.

Wizards does not make any money of the secondary market directly.

And here is the rarity upgrade. And I think it is a bad decision to do so.
A lot of reprints might be great etc. But in an expensive set like this and rarity upgrades like this none of the prices will go down like it happened in CON2 or the fethces in Khan(s).

This set was the WORST one ever made. Less than 5 good rares. The whole Rhystic sub theme that let your opponents negate the effects of a particular card was terrible, only study has emerged as a good EDH card.
What happen to Christine Sprankle is just wrong. If you think it is okay to treat women this way you are part of the problem. Would you allow people to harass your daughter / wife in such a manner than you should not be part of the magic community. Just because their is more men than women in the community does not give you the right to act in such a manner. When did people get the notion that not everyone is equal? In the USA you are suppose to treat people as equal regardless of religion / gender / race / age / height it is what the Constitution is based upon.
Aside from the knights the rest just feels "not" magic. I understand what Wizards is trying to do, but it feels like a strech.
Also the adventure cards template looks really bad I know we are going for a book feel, but ugh.
