You people are sheep. Here's what happens - you attack with one of your 90 billion ball lightning dudes. They block with Kor Firewalker. You unstable footings. Or they take 5-6 damage and you do it again next turn.
Or you splash black for deathmark and that new black trap.
Or Disfigure or Infest or Smother and the list goes on and on. This is a decent hoser, I agree, but nothing that can't be dealt with.

Indeed. This thing so bad it's not funny. I'm someone who tries to focus on the positive side of things, but this product has way too many lacks such as:
No usb port or sd slot (you have to buy them separately)
No real innovation
No flash (HMTL5 isn't there yet by a long shot, unfortunately)
No multitasking
No camera
1GHz for your money. There are several phones more powerful than the iPad.
Closed application environment
and the list keeps going on and on. This thing will only be running what apple thinks you need (i.e approve). The iPhone was an innovative device in several aspects, but the iPad is just lousy.

That's kinda scary that if this info is accurate, it's a two card combo with Immortal Coil. :1mana::symr:, then :2mana::symb::symb:, and you might have already won. If not, a spell costing 0 or 1 mana will seal the deal.
Or that new common land that removes a graveyard when it ETB. Interesting card.
I've been testing the Japanese Grixis variation of this deck and I've had some pretty good results, RDW being the only though match. This deck has some serious power within it and it's the only combo deck I've seriously considered to be as powerful as Standard Heartbeath, which is my favorite deck ever. It feels like it as well. This is fastly becoming my favorite standard deck. If I have any good suggestions or relevant results I'll report them to this thread. Keep up the great work guys!
I had one of the best times of my life at the Zen PR. Seriously, this PR was second to none. When I oppened my packs I didn't think my deck would be that good. I only got that red dragon, the green trap that is activated once you get a spell countered and the two Sphinxes as well as two other useless rares. Still, after filtering my cards, my option was clear to play G/R but the lack of bombs wouldn't get me there, so I decided to splash blue and use the two Sphinxes exclusively.
First round I kicked the guys ass. I don't want to sound mean, but I beat him 2-0 in 15 minutes or so. His mana and overall deck were not consistent, so that had to do with it.
Record: 1-0
Anyway, even though we had over 400 players at our PR, somehow I ended up with no opponent and so, the second round was a bye. Lame, I wanted to play.
Record:2-0
For round 3 things got a little more tight. We ended up 2-1 and that was because I got to drop 2 Expeditions in the third game and activate them soon after. Also, the dragon won me the first game. Lovely.
Record: 3-0
For the fourth match, I got yet another really though opponent. We ended up 2-1 like last round, except this time he was playing a very consistent black and green deck which I thought would end up kicking my ass because of all the removal. Expeditions, the red minotaur and red removal were my friends this time around. We celebrated the great game we had at the end of it and shared experiences and such. Great game.
Record: 4-0
I was at the main table for this one, and I got a good opponent I must say. Even though this guy was playing a really good G/W deck, I ended up winning 2-0. There was a key moment during game 1. I dropped the Sphinx with flying and shroud FTW and next turn he dropped that green creature that kills on flier when it comes into play. He tried to kill it until I told him mine had shroud and that was G1. Second and last game of the day I was under a lot of pressure, he had critter coming in every turn and I barely could keep up. I completed the 6 mana for the dragon and dropped it. Next turn I dropped a land, attacked with all my critters and paid for another combat phase with the dragon FTW. It was an amazing game and really, really close.
Final Record: 5-0
I took it home with a 5-0 final record and a good number of boosters. I sold my fetch as well as the dragon and some boosters, so the PR paid itself and I actually made a profit. Not to mention the boosters I cracked when I got home, which had, among other great things, a foil Archive Trap which I will be selling this sunday to make even more profits.
This was my first 5-0 and I can't wait until the next PR in January, which I'll be sure to attend and I hope is nearly as fun as this one.
My deck wasn't anything spectacular. I separated the cards and used the same system I always do. I ended up playing G/R with blue splash. I opened that red dragon and it won me 2 or 3 games all by itself, and both the Sphinxs were in my deck as well. Opened a fetch within my first 6 packs and sold it as well as the dragon and 5 boosters from all the ones I won. I still was left with some boosters for myself, the prerelease paid itself and I actually made a tiny profit this week which will be increased next week when I trade/sell some of the rares I got.
I didn't mean that they were fake, I meant it seems like WotC is trying to deter away from rumor mongers, because they're trying to say all they do is ruin the WotC spoilers.
This is innovation / evolution. Have they ever given a try to minipacks? No. Will it work? How do they know if they don't try?
I've been into the game for months before I bought something ( a Kamigawa precon ). Now, I play and make top 8s regularly in City Champs, GPs etc. How much do I spend on Magic a month? 10 bucks. Exactly - that's because Magic is also about being friends, meeting people, the old Harry Potter style talk we're all fed up with... But it's true. Your friends WILL lend you cards. They WILL give you a common you need in a deck for free. Budget is in no way necessary to play magic. High level magic, yes. But not at all. I, as a stranger, am much more willing to get in the game if I have to spend 2$ rather than 4.
If I am wrong, they'll just stop doing them, but much of this thread is against change. I'm sorry to disappoint you, Magic is based on change...
I like this positive approach to the situation. That doesn't mean I think this is a good idea, but this isn't even directed to me anyway. You're absolutely right, if this doesn't work then they will put it off the market. It is that simple. As mentioned, Magic is about innovation and wizards is taking their chances. No need to make a big deal out of this guys, you're not buying this after all, so don't bug yourselves with this.
