While I do sympathise with your arguments, I should point out that this is the "Official Banlist Discussion Thread". If you believe that ban list discussions are silly, you are free to avoid this thread -- nobody is forcing you from actually checking this thread. Honestly, telling other posters to stop this discussion is just as bad as going to some anime forums and asking people to stop discussing about the anime formats.

For the record, some players do enjoy discussing the mechanics of the format as much as the actual gameplay and I don't see why these players can't actually discuss / argue as much as they want in a thread that is created especially for this reason. If it does get to the point where posters start flaming / trolling, I trust that you are aware of the functions of the "Report" button but if you really feel that this discussion is silly, you should do yourself a favour and avoid this thread (and enjoy the rest of the forum as you see fit).

I have realized that this entire discussion of "ban x card" is completely pointless, so I have indeed decided to avoid this thread like the plague. I am merely pointing out that discussing cards to ban over and over and over especially on cards that are pretty obvious that don't need banning, will never get banned, or obviously should stay banned is hurting the integrity of Commander. I am not telling people to stop discussing Commander or MTG, it is more of a plea to quit this thread which has become completely asinine. It really makes us Commander players look like a bunch of whiny weeners. I will be the first one to admit that I have been guilty of this as well. Discussing strategies and favorite cards is perfectly fine of course, and should be encouraged. That is why I come here to the forums. However, this constant bickering of presenting poorly thought out halfwit arguments just so another user can pick out every single detailed flaw of your said halfwit argument so they can feel better about themselves (yay, you won an argument on the internet.........) is getting downright loathsome.

Again, I reiterate that this entire thread has become extremely embarrassing. This entire thread is a argue fest that goes absolutely nowhere, and only makes commander fans look really, really stupid and childish.

Why is everyone taking this whole card ban thing so damn seriously in this goofy awesome 100 card singleton format, when you can play stuff like zombie fish for the lolz and bad ass legendary creatures you would otherwise never be able to use? Commander is THE format to play bad cards that mostly suck everywhere else. Has everyone forgotten this? I swear, I feel like the online commander community is trying to turn commander into Vintage, where the ban list exists to balance everything not to allow people for goofy fun, but strictly because "it's too powerful" as if everyone is playing in a commander tourney all the time.

Please, make this stop, and have fun with your cards. Thanks.

I guess I am the only person who only likes Grixis on these forums? I find that hard to believe.

posted a message on EDH cards (the 99) that you HATE
What I dislike greatly (not hate, I can't hate anything involving a card game) are some of the EDH players I come across online or in paper Magic. After playing EDH for 3-4 years now, I have found the people are the problem, not the cards. Commonly complained about cards such as Tooth & Nail could be fun but people only want to abuse them and make it as unfun as possible without any consideration to other players. This cutthroat must win at all costs attitude is what turns games and individual cards into hate fests. If people could just tone down their competitive crush all noobs baloney then even the worst of cards can be fun in a social setting. Even I can respect someone who wants to play mass LD or whatever if they are a cool dude and they truly find it fun without a mindset of they will only have fun if they win.

the problem with that view is that it does not take in to account those that were not going to be buying Maze in the first place because they have it and/or do not want it. Don't get me wrong...I Maze is one of the few cards I can actually make use of in this set, as I can always use another, but I had no intention of buying another copy.

This FTV is not awesome, from my perspective. The lands are somewhat diverse, but not so much as to he any help to me. I was looking forward to a FTV that would have 4-5 lands that I would immediately want to put in a deck and use, but I with the exception of Maze I either already have copies that I am not using, or I have no use for them. I was not looking for a set to collect, or to sell off...I was looking for a set that would provide cards I actually want, and this FTV did not meet that expectation. I really don't care about much whether this is a "sweet deal" or not.

Wow, you're exactly the kind of whiner that I am talking about. Sorry that wizards didn't make a product that catered exactly to your specific needs. Just because you already have copies of the card doesn't mean the set fundamentally sucks. What the ass kind of logic is that!?

Holy crap. After reading about 3 pages of this thread, this is the biggest whinefest I have ever seen in my life! What the hell is wrong with you people!? It really is true that MTG players will complain about anything and everything even if it clearly is an amazing product.

This FTV is awesome. This set isn't going to appeal to everyone, but c'mon..... Realms has so much value in it for those who are only looking at it monetarily, and for those who want playability the choice of lands are diverse. Take a look at the list and see how kind of ridiculously amazing it is, especially for EDH players. Also, for the haters, I think it is hilarious that I will be getting a foil Desert in the FTV foil style.

It just makes me want to punch somebody in the face when I read someone complaining about something like Kor Haven not being in the set simply because it is a 50 dollar card in foil, yet Maze of Ith is already in it. It is virtually the same card functionally, and I have been reading this complaint over and over for cards that people only want because of $$$. Plus, the endless *****ing about Karakas and Wasteland not being in this is the most pathetic drivel I have seen from the MTG community in quite some time. Get over the fact that you aren't getting a free massage with a happy ending in addition to the awesome stuff when you buy this. You're already getting a sweet deal from this FTV, so shut the hell up and just be happy already. Ughh.

posted a message on I'm burnt out on this format, and maybe even this game.
What I love about EDH is that there are what seems to be near infinite possibilities in deck building. You are only bound by your own imagination, and EDH allows you to reflect your personality. It is a lot like a RPG, where you can customize your character/game to make it something unique. You can call something your own from your commander choice to the theme or flavor etc. It is the only format where you can feel like it's *your* deck, not some net deck that you have to copy in order to compete in Standard. I have been playing strictly EDH (aside from a couple GP's) for 4+ years now since black Braids got banned (my first commander), and I still think it is one of the greatest format/games I have ever played. I have made over 100+ decks online or in paper magic, and I still love to keep making them and playing them. If you find EDH getting dull, experiment with as many cards as you can. Try different themes. For example, I am making a 5 color Cromat Ravnica guilds deck for the upcoming RTR set. Will it be good? Who cares? It will be awesome and fun to use all of the legends from Ravnica and their guild cards and see how it works. Practically anything is possible if your use your noggin.

I'm the same way. I will relentlessly and blindly attack group hug decks like it kicked my cat. Just flailing arms and screaming. Worst deck ever.

When I play norin, it almost always turns into 3 vs 1. People know if I drop grip of chaos the game is over.

I find your hypocrisy straight up hilarious that you hate group hug yet you think its cute and fun to drop Grip of Chaos. Puh-lease.

Trolling infraction issued. Please refrain from provoking other users in this way. -ISB

I think a huge problem here with all of these arguments is that a lot of you speculate on theoretical situations of cards, rather than what actually happens in the game itself in reality. A lot of you have this piss poor way to justify a card isn't unfun or isn't broken because there are answers to it. In real life, an answer isn't always available on the board or in your hand.

For example, this is what really happens when someone plays a Primeval Titan 9 times out of 10......

Cast primetime. Counterspell? No? Okay. Fetch Urborg/Coffers. Didn't happen to have Wasteland etc. in play to blow up either Coffers or Urborg that turn? Ok. Untap. Now I am a gajillion turns ahead of you. Play Avenger of Zendikar. Attack with Primeval Titan, get Gaea's Cradle and some other random utility land. Now I have a insurmountable lead that your opponents will most likely not be able to come back from. This is even more unfair when it happens turns 4-6.

In other words, once Primeval Titan has hit the board the damage is done. It centralizes the game and warps the game severely in the controllers favor.
