On the topic of Wildfire Elemental: Needs Trample. I actually have a casual Chandra's Spitfire deck planned, and that card can even be decent in Peasant thanks to the various spellslingers and other pingers you can run. But the evasion it has in the form of flying is really key to that.

Edit: Oh, wow - all your creatures? That is actually pretty interesting as a potential archetype support thing.

Yah, all your creatures. Agreed, I'd be totally just grabbing Chandra's Spitfire instead if it only buffed itself.
I'm trying to figure out if the fact it's not evasive by itself is made up for by the fact that it's going to buff your entire field, really.
My cube has Pyrohemia in it still, to boot... that could be.... evil? Grin

I dont remember saying that I don't like cloud of faeries because it's free.

I do think that it is a terrible play. In most games, it is essentially suntail hawk except it misses a point of damage from the beginning.

    Totally agree, really. Wink
But I figure if someone's going to force me to play a 1/1 flier, I might as well not pay for it. Grin
What would you run ahead of it, out of interest?

Revised (or older) Lightning Bolt reads like it hits planeswalkers Smile

Just for you, I'm going to trawl through my 360 and see exactly how many cards are affected by this. XD Hi-Five
Let's see how many other cards there are besides Lightning Bolt before I totally freak out (though I suspect it's probably most red spells)... Wink

But lightning bolt does hit planeswalkers...

I know, but it's not literally printed on the card (at least, not on the copy in my cube). Mine is set up for kids to play with, so I like the wording to be spot on. Call me picky... Grin

Spore Frog is just going in to my kids' cube. It's always been a fave of mine. Smile

Agreed with Leelue that Brimstone Mage is simply too slow. I've tried to play it in multiplayer and EDH, and it's been too slow there, so you can imagine how hard it is to switch on in Peasant.

But Leelue also doesn't like the fact that Cloud of Faeries is basically free... the best things in life are free! awyeah
Cloud of Faeries is what it is, and is easily dealt with, but playing baby Peregrine Drakes on Turn 2 is not terrible.

Now for my one.... Wildfire Elemental?
It's out of the red M20 planeswalker deck, and has barely rated a mention. This could be pretty good in a straight red deck full of damage and goblins...

That moment when you thought the place died and then come back to discover it hadn't. Grin

In for my cut-down kids' cube:
Vampire of the Dire Moon in for Vampire Lacerator

Anyone got thoughts on Wildfire Elemental out of the red M20 planeswalker deck? I want to replace Qal Sisma Behemoth (which is too dumb and vanilla now), but not sure what to toss in...

Loved the series! Are you going to write more about peasant cube?

Going to delve back into my first passion for a while - Multiplayer cube.
But the long-term aim is to get to the point where I can write set reviews for non-standard cubes, Peasant included. The family is very much playing the heck out of our own Peasant cube, so it's not like I'm not doing Peasant card evaluation right now... Grin

Peasant Cube on a Budget - The Wrap-Up
I got the cube together! How much did I get right (or wrong)? Grin
You can give it a draft here if you're so inclined.
I've only given it a test draft a couple of times myself so far. It feels like it falls into the archetypes fairly well as I'm drafting it, but I do miss the tri-lands for one...

For those of us who have racked up thousands of answers and have the little note on our handle (so to speak) that shows how long we have been a member (I take pride that I have been part of this community since 2007 and have way over 3,000 posts), my big question is this: Will the new site be a blank slate where we all (including mods) are starting from scratch as "new members: or can we have the recognition from this site carried over?

Oh gracious... they're going to reset our post counts again, aren't they... nooooo..... ugh Wink

Seriously, though - many thanks to the mods, who are no doubt absolutely scuttling in the background after this was dropped on them. It's been an honour and privilege to plant thousands of posts' worth of my drivel on here, and I'm glad you're trying to give the community a new home (because it's a great one). Love

I read the article on Peasant Cube lands, and it raised a question for me. Why would somebody run ETB tapped duals over the tri-lands?

    Quote from Leelue »
Why would anyone run etbt duals over tri lands? Because they are more worried about people playing multicolor than they are about people being able to play magic in general.
    I wouldnt like those people

You want fixing to be good, but not so good that people can just always rely on playing 3-5 color good stuff. If people want to go into three or more colors, you want them to enjoy it, but it needs to be a dedication during the draft where they've valued fixing highly or it needs to a light splash. That said, at 360, I think it's 'correct' to start your fixing land section with the tri lands, followed by the gain lands, and then the Vivid lands. If I went to 450, I'd likely go up another cycle of ten duals alternating between Refuges, bounce lands, or other tap duals, depending on what's available or best fits the color pair.

    Great chat, lads. Love it.
As someone who actually runs the tri-lands and not the karoos in my own cube, I wholeheartedly agree. I was surprised the tri-lands are ranked so lowly on CubeTutor, TBH. Shrugs
I can see arguments for including the gates, though - especially if you have Circuitous Route in your cube, and/or some of the other gates-matter cards. That's probably the one case where you'd run gates ahead of tri-lands, but I suspect it would make green a little more unbalanced than the rest of the colours (as it would have access to better fixing).
As someone whose primary cube is an EDH multiplayer kitchen table monstrosity, multicolour runs in my blood. So I wouldn't do well with a push in the cube design to force two-color decks, like Leelue.
But similar to Calibretto's thoughts, I figure if someone wants to be stupid enough to draft a five-colour rainbow festival, they can go right ahead - and as cube designer, I should probably at least make the fixing decent enough to want to attempt this in the first place and have fun doing so (as much as it's a bad idea). Smile

Peasant Cube on a Budget - Land
Well, that was easier. Though I can't say I run the Ravnica karoos myself. I assume quite a few of the rest of you do, given they rank so highly on CubeTutor?
(Or are there just that many filthy combo cubes that run Prime Time and Amulet of Vigor?) Grin

Noticed yesterday that the side-bar (on the right) was streamlined... I was taken aback, thinking "ok... something is missing here... it shrank..." - then I realized that there is a drop-down menu. I like it; less cluttered. What does everyone else think?

I like the cleanness of it, yeah. Definitely better. I kinda miss Ledger being readily available, though - I used to live in that screen, for some reason. Smile

Used to take 2 weeks for cards from Malaysia tome get to me... looks like a lot of red tape is slowing Malaysian international mail to snail's pace. Annoying, but at least it's just a bunch of commons and uncommons.

Yeah, I've heard tales that Malaysian mail has been particularly slow in the last month or two. Same holds for me, and I am much closer to Malaysia than you (I've had them take over two weeks as well). Frown
