Any LD spell at 3cc should have a 'nonbasic' stipulation + some minor pot sweetener (e.g. 2 unpreventable damage to that land's controller, or perhaps 1 damage to each of that land's controller's non-fliers).
It would up the game's skill-intensiveness by adding tension to the mana-base configuration process.
This is how I feel as well. For 4 mana we should be getting Ruination, not Craterize. Limiting LD to non-basic hate makes it more or less useless against new players since they mostly run basics anyway, so you don't have to worry about turning away new players with its unfun nature.
I'm having a hard time thinking of a three toughness creature that I really want to exile, rather than just kill. It seems like all the good "exile" targets, geist, crawler, and messenger, bite it to pillar for two less.
Dreg Mangler is the only one I can think of that makes you really happy to exile. Hitting Thragtusk is nice, it's just too bad it doesn't shut down his token effect.
Yeah, I definitely like the multiplayer implications this has. I've always hated putting out The Rack on turn one in a multiplayer game since I don't like making an enemy that early on, so this is quite nice.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, if that player has one or fewer cards in hand, he or she loses 3 life.
So they didn't quite give us The Rack, which I remember being pretty sick, but it's similar. Do you think this kind of effect is good enough with what discard we have?
This massive spoiler has killed any and all interest in the artfight ravnica thing on facebook that I had. It's kind of funny we are still like 8 million points away from the spoiler on there and now there is almost no incentive to play it anymore. Not that there was in the firstplace since at the pace we were going we were going to see the spoiler around Gatecrash release date.
It says they'll reveal a card from an upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, not a card specifically from Return to Ravnica. Given how long it's taking to get there coupled with how much Gatecrash art is in the set, it's pretty possibly they'll spoil a Gatecrash card when we hit the goal.
For just building a casual deck around Search the City, I'm surprised they didn't bring up Future Sight classics Pull From Eternity and Riftsweeper. I guess they don't synergize well with the rest of the deck, but if you're going deep anyway hey.
Yeah I'm not sure how anyone's worried about having the right color mana for this guy. I could maybe see occasionally getting screwed on Ash Zealot turn two if you just started with a bunch of basics of the wrong color, but turn 4 not having two of each? Come on now.
I'd recommend Barter in Blood or even Magmaquake over the curse. Tokens isn't the real reason you need a sweeper; it's Geist of Saint Traft. Looking at your maindeck, there's just about nothing you can do if your opponent plays one except pray you live long enough to overload Mizzium Mortars.

Boros Swiftblade -> Fencing Ace
Mourning Thrull -> Daggerdrome Imp

Pretty good, most if not all of the Event Decks had a rare land or two in them, so yeah.
