Gustavo Herodier posted a message on Fathers DayHello!Posted in: Community Discussion
Without knowing what decks or formats he plays (or at least his favourite colour), it’s impossible to name a single card he’ll definitely use and not already have..
However, speaking as a Magic Dad, if my kids gave me a card, I’d probably put it in a special sleeve (or even frame it) and keep it as a keepsake. With that in mind, it might be best to go for something significant, like maybe a booster from the the expansion your husband stated playing on (do you know?), or the expansion that was current when your son was born (4 years ago would have been Dragons of Tarkir).
I’m surprised to find there isn’t a single card with “Father” in the name (there’s a few mothers though), but if you go on https://gatherer.wizards.com/ you might find a card with a name that’s privately meaningful to you/your family. Finding a foil copy of that card by Father’s Day might be tricky at this point though
Failing that, I agree with the previous post - current boosters are always fun
Good luck!

void_nothing posted a message on [Read This] An Update, and a CallSo MTGSalvation will not be closing in July as expected. I know the news of the closure is still fresh in everyone's minds and this development has only added to the confusion. It does not help matters that the staff had very short notice of the sale of the site as well. Still, I, as well as the entire site staff, wishes the new ownership well; MTGSalvation is as important to us as it is to the rest of the community and we hope for the forums to stay online.Posted in: Custom Card Creation
That being said: Once the new site - which I can now say is to be called MTGNexus - is up and running, I will no longer be involved in the Custom Card Creation community on MTGSalvation. MTGNexus is the project of almost all of the current MTGSalvation staff, all of whom I admire and trust, and it is my firm decision to start the custom card community that has been a key part of my life for nigh on fifteen years afresh in newer, hopefully even more fertile soil on a wholly independent site. All future custom card contests I run will take place on MTGNexus and very soon all of the custom card discussion I take part in will be there too.
Anyone who wishes to remain here and try and continue the amazing work that CCC has done on MTGS has all of my love and moral support. I want custom Magic to thrive everywhere, not just in the site that I happen to be active in. But it is my great hope that as many of you as possible will come with me to MTGNexus's Custom Card Creation subforum. It will not have the weight of 15 years of history, but I know that as long as it has you - hands-down my favorite people on the internet - it will have a very, very bright future.
Oh, and I think some of the tools that are planned for the new site are going to help, too. But that's a conversation for another time. -

Sorcery (R)
Join forces - Starting with you, each player may pay any amount of mana. Each player manifests the top X cards of their library, where X is the total amount of mana spent this way. (To manifest a card, that player puts the top card of their library onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature. If it’s a creature card, it can be turned face up any time for its mana cost.)
Flashback 4
The clans of Tarkir were defenseless no longer. -

Dapoku, Skyshroud's Magnigoth 2GU
Legendary Creature - Treefolk Druid (R)
Commander suspend 3 - GU (Rather than cast this card from your hand or the command zone, you may pay GU and exile it with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost. It has haste.)
As long as Dapoku, Skyshroud's Magnigoth is suspended, you may play an additional land on each of your turns if that land is a basic Forest or Island.
Lands you control have "T: Add CC. This land deals 2 damage to you" and "T: Remove a counter from target permanent or suspended card."
"Molimo gave me a learning-house outside of the tomb that was Rath."

Round 1 - Ith This The Real Life
In the face of impending doom, heroes gather.
For over twelve long years, these heroes have heeded a call. A call that reaches deep within their hearts and minds, bringing forth powerful spells from a thousand worlds. They have journeyed across planes, overcome great challenges, and battled one another for a place in the annals of history.
Although they look forward to a new home, a promise from the void, the only certain thing is that they must say goodbye to their current home.
For this final gathering, each hero must call forth a commander from across time and space. Ancient ideas have appeared again over the horizons, giving rise to new forms. As they have often done, each hero will begin their final journey here with a legend, and at the same time respond to the call that first brought them together.
Challenge:
Create a legendary creature with suspend.
Deadline:
Wednesday, June 5th, 11:59PM Pacific (shooting to begin Round 2 and start critiques around this day) -

"Echo Looting" or "Looting Echo" sounds better than "Faithless Eons"Quote from tchntm43 »"Faithless Eons" is going to be a deck. I don't know if it will be the same deck that focuses on Phoenix, but this helps negate the drawback of Faithless Looting while also providing a way to reshuffle them into the deck to draw again.
Is that what you hear resounding from a Careless Whisper? -

well, somebody could make a new Club Flamingo thread on the new site.Quote from TheRavenManIsSquee »What will happen to club Flamingo when the site closes?
Could we make Club Flamingo it’s own website?
To be clear I'm referring to myself there.
I wasn't expecting to have to make a new post so soon after the last one, but I guess my hand was forced.
When the time comes and the new site is up I'll make a new Club Flamingo there, as well as providing one final retrospective post here. End of an era indeed, but just like last time it'll rise again. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Enchantment - Aura {R}
Enchant land you control
Enchanted land gets +3/+3 and is a 0/0 red and green Elemental creature with haste and trample. It’s still a land.
Other land creatures you control gain trample.
Totem armor (If enchanted permanent would be destroyed, instead remove all damage from it and destroy this Aura.)
IIW: Treasure Tokens

Land {R}
Fortified Clearing enters the battlefield tapped.
Champion a land (When this enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you exile another land you control until this leaves the battlefield.)
T: Add two mana in any combination of R, G, and/or W.
IIW: Copy things

Legendary Creature — Vedalken Wizard {M}
Commander suspend 3 3UR (Rather than cast this card from your hand or the command zone, you may pay 3UR and exile it with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost. It has haste.)
Vanishing 3 (This permanent enters the battlefield with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When the last is removed, sacrifice it.)
As long as Valsvet is on the battlefield or exiled, spells you cast cost 1 less to cast for each time counter on Valsvet.

I think they mean in conjunction: Bazaar Trader him away, then flicker him. Your opponent has to sac a mountain (if they have one, saneatali suggested Blood Moon) and when he comes back into play it will be under your control so you go get another mountain.

That would certainly make things weird for having six of a 10 card cycle being modern legal...

It strikes like a lightning blast from a brainstorm

Instant {U}
Target creature you control gains hexproof and indestructible until end of turn. Tap it and remove all bounty counters from it.
The basement at The Coffin’s Nail might be expensive to rent, but it's about the best place to wait for the heat to die down.
IIW: Make one or more gold cards as part of a new cycle that pays homage to a mono-colored cycle (ex: a gold leyline, titan, or vow)

Fervent Growth G
Enchantment — Aura {C}
Enchant land
Whenever enchanted land is tapped for mana, its controller adds an additional G for each +1/+1 counter on it.
Awaken 2—2GG (If you cast this spell for 2GG, also put two +1/+1 counters on target land you control and it becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature with haste. It’s still a land.)
IIW: WAR style walkers
