Well yeah but its pretty much the prices on everything. Legacy is out of the question automatically because of the prices of dual lands and wastelands. Modern has the expensive fetchlands among other things and Standard will require me to buy new cards every year.
And I know that there are really cheap decks like Burn but those decks are "cheap" in more ways than one IMO.
Hi ,
I am a returning magic player. I was a casual and budget player that eventually quit due to lack of players in my area. However since then I moved and I have access to my Magic again. I was thinking of getting into the game again competitively since my other hobby is going down the pooper however I encountered a very big problem ; finance.
The prices on cards are insane! 80$ for fetch lands? 65$ for noble hierarchs? Hell if it were things like Force of Will or Wastelands or other cards that were made a long time ago I would understand but this is ridiculous.
Anyways , I was taking a look at MTGO and it looked a lot cheaper , very affordable and something I could play. Plus , I could play whenever I want.
However , I get go miss out out on the whole social aspect of Magic which is huge. No looking at my opponents faces , no laughs or cheers when something happens , I wont get that excitement I get every time I crack open a pack. Is it all worth it? I mean I want to play Magic with real people next to me but I don't want to spend nearly 1000$ on pieces of cardboard.
tl dr : Real Magic is expensive and MTGO is cheap but with no social aspect. What should I be taking?
I have taken an extremely long break from MTG to play Vanguard and League of Legends.
However I have decided to return! .... and I realised something dreadful.
Cockatrice is offline and MWS is no longer free , where do people play Magic online ' for free' nowadays?
Edit : Cmon guys its a simple question :/ I cant find anywhere apart from Tradecardonline which I am NOT going to use.
Well, sure, if that's what you want. Post again when you leave the Izzet, I can't really add you right now.
Gotcha .
Guess I better introduce myself then :
My name is Michael , a high school student soon to be moving to New Zealand.
My hobbies are mtg , reading manga ( mostly hentai ) , playing soccer and playing LoL . I hope to be a psychologist . My idol is Michael Jackson . I would love to join this clan , even though I dont watch as much anime as I used to ( 465 bleach episode in 2 months ... which is a bit much >> ) .
Awesome. In a format with RUG Delver, Goblins, Elves, and Storm combo, we're evaluating a card based on how good it is after Turn 10. I think this must mean we're doing something right.
If we get to Turn 10, we're usually in the driver's seat. Sure Hymn is best during the first few turns. But that's where this deck needs the most help.
During turn 10 , if they havent gone off they probably have 0 cards in hands so as I said = useless
One thing I'd like to point out is his lack of Hymn to Tourach, my favorite card and one that got me building Pox to begin with--in order to include 7 one-mana discard spells main.
I know people here insist Hymn must be a 4-of, even in LD Pox because of its ability to sometimes hit lands in hand. But I'd recently been experimenting without it in my LD Loampox where slots are so tight and I need more 1-mana plays. It caught my eye seeing a deck have success doing the same thing.
I've goldfished without Hymn, but have not tested live yet so I'm still not sure. It definitely smooths out turns 1-3, but at the cost of power.
What do you all think?
I hate hymn in pox , after turn number 10 its useless
@Sockosensei, yes indeed I was 4 Innocent Bloods short. Oops.
@Stormfront. Tabernacle sounds great. Though maybe for the sideboard against Goblins or other swarm decks. It's amazing how often Tombstalker winds up being my finisher in this build. Also Tabernacle will have to wait until after Christmas as that is one seriously expensive land.
Maybe it might be late to say this , but if you are interested in playing magic online instead of real life.... the cards are extremely more cheap than real life . Tabernacle is 3$
Id love to join the brigade haha . Problem is im already in a clan . Im not sure how the system works but I love anime too much to turn this down . If you guys accept me Il gladly leave the Izzet if its the only option

@Sockonsei
Yes this is why I use the expedition maps. I call this deck map-toolbox pox(catchy isnt it ).
Well about green mana , it is usually reserved for abrupt decay because anything may pop up so I question the liability of crop rotation . Better safe than sorry
Ok , complete speculation on my part but lets try to guess what the Orzhov and Dimir mechanics will be.
--Ive done my research and the Orzhov mechanic and seeing the flavour text on Rest in peace the Orzhov mechanic will be without a doubt something to do with the graveyard. Maybe making a deal of some sort?
Ive come up with a made-up mechanic : "Deal" which comes in 2 parts(maybe only one of these should be thought about but I am just proposing ideas):
"Deal - opponent" and "Deal - self"
With Deal-O it would say : When this card comes in to play name card . As long as this card is in play any card sent to the graveyard with the chosen name will cause you to heal 1 life every upkeep for every card sent.
Another posibility is "Deal-self"
Which would be the same thing as the Deal-opponent but instead of naming a card which would be sent to your opponents graveyard , you would name a source of a card that would destroy the "Deal-self" card . If the card with the chosen name would destroy the "Deal-self" card you would heal 1 during your upkeep while it is in your graveyard.
--Now onto Dimir....
Supposedly the Dimir Mechanic has already been spoiled
"If this card deals X damage your opponent mills X cards"
Let that sink in . This would be the worst mechanic ever . Death by milling? By the time you mill 20 your opponent is dead! Of course you could use Jaces Phantasm but that is a different story.
--Dimir is a very mysterious guild , something that would make your opponent think "what is that?" . Of course , you will not be able to trick high-skilled opponents BUT ...
What if we had a mechanic like this: Complot - When this card does (something ) exile the top cards of both players libraries face-down . You may look at them , but your opponent cannot . After both players may decide to leave the card or put it on the bottom of their library.
Get your poker face on , and get your "im doomed" face for that island on the top of your opponents library. This will leave your opponent to make a decision of something he doesnt know about ! Very dimir like.
Discuss of course , also remember this is completely made up with no source and is "shaped" seeing to flavour text on some cards.
