As I said, I was just casually reading Prison. I don't have a solid read on Jack because his posts has been meh so far but A.) that's true of a lot of players here and B.) not much has happened yet. IIRC Jack's obvtown posts in Prison were later in D1 when stuff was already happening, and I also know that people, like, sometimes play differently in different games.

    It's pretty liberating not giving a *****.

Jack, you were obvtown in Prison. This game, I don't have a good read on you. I don't know why that is.

On ZDS: It's not just that he changed his mind, the way he changed his mind felt geniune. He's also trying to move the thread forward, which can come from scum, but it's enough that I'd rather look elsewhere D1.

For reference, I was lightly following along Prison Break and he was my strongest scumread D2. Obviously that doesn't mean I can always read him perfectly or whatever, but he feels different this game.

His attack on me pings me a bit, but eh, my explanations aren't the greatest so I can see it. I'm having trouble getting myself back into mafia mode, interacting with people is hard.

    ~

I know I'm not the only one who feels this, but it feels like we're still in RVS. No wagon has gotten more than 4 votes... which is kinda absurd.

My vote on Shadow didn't go through, but I don't even care; he's not going to be back for another two days and pressuring him now seems pointless. Tubba's posts have been meh... but people bring up an okay point that he was moderately scummy in Prison Break making me hesitant to push it.

GJ said my posts were lazy... he's very right and very wrong at the same time. I spend a lot of time trying to figure stuff out, but trying to express myself in a productive way is exhausting and time consuming and I'm starting to doubt if I can even do it.

It seems like I'm right about LW and Umami, but their wagons were so lukewarm for two wagons on town that it's weird.

Umami, I’m not gonna lie, that vote looks so much like a bus it makes me cringe.

nah, Whisp didn't vote for Tubba and I figured 1 vote doesn't count as bus and we have like 9 more days until the ends of day 1. I am surprised Tom hopped on board though haha

    I lol'd

    Quote from Vaimes »
    Uh.

Yeah, never mind. You can be town.

Huh, I didn't read it as alignment indicative. How does Umami not knowing what "bus" means make him town?

You don’t have to be w/w, but I don’t understand how you flipped so fast on them. I’m catching up and I guess I just don’t understand what the slip was supposed to be. You’ve been extra prickly so far this game and the shift in tone on Edamame pinged me.

Even if you don't understand the slip, if you saw someone you were reading as town say something only scum would say, you would change your read as well, no?

    Why is "prickly" scummy?

I can get behind this pressure on Tubba as well

Thanks LW and Umami. Last ~100 posts make me feel LW is likely town. I'm still not convinced on Umami (not convinced by the "slip").

I don't mind putting more pressure on Shadow though, I think he was the scummiest vote on LW.

    Vote Shadowlancer

You and Umami have spent a lot of time talking around each other, Umami’s early defense of you by questioning the votes on you and your defense of him by claiming to see towniness in his actions makes this vote smelly. What’s changed for you?
    Vote Last

A lot's happened between those two points. Do you think it's impossible for town to change their mind?

I like that ZDS is scumhunting and am not interested in lynching him today.

and I've already explained everything revolving around my post on Axel
if you have new questions though I will be happy to answer them

Maybe I missed it. If you thought the post was scummy, why didn't you vote him at first? How did ZDS asking about it cause you to vote?

Well, my vote is still on Whispy, and I’m coming around to ZDS maybe just being a hardass villager.

No comment on your silly question.
Historically that's just how ZDS is. I don't remember any other specifics about his play, except that he's... pretty much just like this.

Like his town play or it's NAI? Cause I was leaning towards a town read because of that town confidence thing everyone keeps telling me about

I think ZDS is town because he is reevaluating his reads. ZDS (and most experienced players) are confident as both town and scum, but changing one's mind in a way that feels believable is difficult.

Up to #202, I think Umami's tells are playstyle tells rather than scumtells.

@Umami: What is your mafia experience?

Sorry about the lack of posting, I should be active from now on.

Catching up right now, I don't think Last is particularly scummy, he seems like he is awkward regardless of alignment. Only thing I think is bad from him is how he only voted Axelrod after being called out, and I would like him to explain why he didn't vote Axel initially.

ZDS's point on Umami is decent, but is weak (as in I could very easily see townUmami saying the same thing). Keeping an eye on Umami but so far haven't seen anything else off about him. I also don't see the hypocracy between #72 and #73.

I like that ZDS is scumhunting and am not interested in lynching him today.

There is extra verbiage on the ability to make the ability "sensible" -- can't give the bonus to itself, can't give the bonus to a creature that already has flying, not optional -- but in limited these end up being annoying restrictions because there is always a green removal spell that cares about flying. Which means you don't have a choice but to make another attacker vulnerable in instances where that might matter.

I personally wonder if "target attacking creature gains flying" wouldn't just be the better templating in terms of forestalling corner cases

Fairly sure it's for MODO/arena. 99.9% of the time you are going to want to give your other guy flying, and this prevents you from misclicking and giving the courser itself flying.

Pretty good if you can get it out turn 4 with Gate to the Afterlife.

Not to dampen the party but how can we have the Gate and 6 creatures in the yard by then?

    Easy, even in limited:

T1: One drop creature, which you'll trade off in combat.
T2: Compelling Argument, which will obviously mill 5 creatures every time.
    T3: Gate to the Afterlife
T4: Activate Gate. You even have two mana left over, so even if you got horrendously unlucky and didn't mill 5 creatures before, you can cast another Compelling Argument to get the rest.

I didn't do the math, but I'm pretty sure the odds there are extremely in your favor. Nothing could go wrong.

I would much rather choose the pile then make the piles. In either scenario the one sorting is incentivized to make the piles as equal as possible because if they don't their opponent will choose the pile they don't want going to hand. Therefore, the difference only matters when you can't make them equal because one card just trumps the rest. The player choosing the pile gets to send that card where he wants it to go and all the other one can do about it is gain or deny a chaff card or two.

Put in other words, both players try to make the piles equal, but there will usually be one pile that is slightly better. FoF you are getting the better pile, Steam Augury you are getting the worse pile.

I like Fortune's Favor, though I don't think it's much better than Inspiration unless you can successfully get into your opponent's head and pick the better pile. The biggest benefit is they don't know what's in your hand.

I'd be interested in a EMN duplicate draft. I'd be able to play on Cockatrice, could play on MTGO but would prefer not to unless my deck is relatively cheap.
