You can go dimir or either mono option with Sygg, river Cutthroat. Its definitely off the beaten path for that color combo, and one of those generals I've always wanted to build.

I've got no idea how to break it or anything.

Maybe damage every upkeep effects related to hand size, black drain guys, or effects that make your opponents attack each other (blue?).

He really sings if you can make it happen during their turns.

    Win with ... combo?

He's also the cheapest commander for that combination, which gets style points.

I'm considering it for a mono white enchantment deck (Heliod + Serra's Sanctum + various enchantments).

You could mitigate the risk by exiling dangerous stuff from multiple opponents. They might be less likely to destroy it if an opponent's bomb is under there. Or...targeting multiple opponents means that they're all gunning to destroy it.

Also, like with o-ring, usually when you hit a general, they move it to the zone, making a less likely disenchant target.

He's got a solid first 2 abilities, a one mana higher than I'd like cc, and a snoozer of an ultimate. I do like a mono black walker with draw, and I'll try him out in mono black EDH deck if I open one.

Coulda been 4cc with one less starting loyalty.

That was a really enticing god-deck description. There are so many more indestructible permanents now then when the Baby came out, you can build a pretty brutal deck that breaks the symmetry.

An all land deck seems pretty challenging, you could run every man land, that would be a stylish way to win, but take a long time.
    Otherwise
    Gameplan:
-get like 40 lands into play,
-drop the Baby over and over until everyone is crushed, both in-game and psychologically
-Eventually Give it haste with one of the haste lands
-Give its +x/+0 (enough to kill) with Kessig wolf run
    -crush
    -Hi five a million angels

The best use that comes to mind initially is in a Horde of Notions deck. Get one of these from your graveyard to the battlefield during the last end step before your turn, untap your creatures on your turn and have free rein* to attack as you wish.

EDIT: Oops. Apparently, I misremembered Horde of Notions' ability. Didn't realize it only let you cast the creature, so it would need flash to enter during an opponent's turn.

    *: Pun very much intended.

You were right the first time, Horde's ability lets you cast the spell when you activate, even during an opponents turn.

  • posted a message on Commander question - Kozilek

I'm playing Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as my commander.

When Kozy goes to the graveyard, and it's shuffle-yard-into-library ability happens, can I then choose to send it to the general zone instead of shuffling it into my library?

I'm pretty sure that I can, just wanted to double check with the collective, thanks!

I run them, not really bothered by the flavor stuff. Its out of necessity - I've only got so many fetches.

confidence is having a winning board state/combo ready with counter back up. Or rather, I am most confident in my victory if i have a grip of counter magic. Blue all the way.

Your opponent can cast it in your end step. Since the crature will be sacrificed by a trigger kicking in at the beginning of the next end step, it will actually trigger at the beginning of his end step. So he can block this turn and attack the next one :>

    TL;DR: Yes.

you can't block one turn and attack the next, that would require you to cast the instant before the eot step.

  • posted a message on Is it worth running Isochron Scepter in a list with this imprint package?
I think it will be a dead draw a lot of the time, with that few instants. 10 means you'll see one instant for every 10 cards you draw, so like 2 by turn 7 (blue has tons of draw, maybe 3) on average.

Add to that the fact that you'll probably want to play some of those instants before you draw the Scepter.

I might be off, I've never really played the artifact in edh, but I think that Scepter is best relegated to heavy spell slinger decks- Like Melek or something.

    Mayael, the Anima

I've had a Mayael deck since Alara block that is consistently fun to play. The large creatures are basically modular, so I can plug in whatever new fatness gets printed and keep it fresh.

It's a nice deck to store all my latent Timmy-ness, so when I really want to stomp and stamp, I can.

I love Thada Adel. I ran her as a commander for a while. I've stopped playing her entirely though, due to the dirty looks you get when you repeatedly manhandle someone else's deck.

This is entirely my experience, but ramp dirty looks up to waves of hate for games and games. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing the deck and acquireing all those sol rings and swords. But she embodies several things that players hate on a viseral level:

    -Steals/exiles their best cards
    -searches their decks, exposing secrets
    -takes tons of time
-is mono blue, so all that baggage

I think I play the deck like once a year, any more than that and I'd probably lose friends.

I like to combo her with Strata scythe and Notorious Throng

I recently built a MB big mana EDH deck, and I've been rotating in various Black legends.

Ghoulcaller Gisa is powerful and can get out of control pretty easily, all you need is one other 2+ power creature to get rolling. If I ran her only, I'd maximize haste and untap effects, and maybe zombie stuff, but she did great work with random black fatties.

I'm excited to play her and Endless Ranks of the Dead eventually.

    Smoke

I recently stumbled upon this card and quickly shoved it into an Ashling the Pilgrim tiny leaders deck, where it shines. I could see it work in other voltron strategies as well.

    Pros:
    -cheap! at 2cc
    -devotion friendly at RR
-slows down tokens and creature heavy decks
    -low priority for removal

    Cons:
    -narrow applications
-doesn't stop the worst of their creatures
-doesn't play friendly with goblins and other red token stategies
-antagonizes ex smokers/those trying to quit

Does anyone have any experience with this card?
