I've completly destroyed Eldra Tron (2-1 before side boarding and 4-2 post side boarding), we are to fast for them and if you keep attention on Walking Ballista or Chalice of the void, you should win (Chalice is definitivly not game over, it's hard but I've won some game with Chalice at 1).
Against Affinity, I've won 2-0 before side boarding then 2-3 post side boarding (Ghirapur Aether Grid and/or Walking Ballista is pretty hard when it sticks the board).
I've played against Skred too, a T2 Blood Moon without fetch for basic forest and/or Spellpierce hits but after that, the match up is favorable for us.
Opt is inscredibly good, it helps to filter and draw some needed solutions.
I've never sided in Shapers' Sanctuary so I don't have any opinion about it, I think we should play it against heavy removals'decks like BGx, Jeskaï Control or even Burn (Searing Blaze, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Helix, Grim Lavamancer, Rift BOlt, Path to Exile)

yeah the mana is to hard with the black splash, you would think it works fine looking at all the 3 and 4 colour decks in modern but our mana requirements are surprisingly tight
for me Opt has been a mixed bag, I'm noticing if i have a noble hierarch start opt becomes much better as you can use the mana advantage to protect and search, but without her if often just sits in my hand as i would rather leave up protection than blindly search, meaning i often have to cast it as a sorcery. but as the game goes long and my hand size drops it gets better again digging you into what you need, i do seem to be getting more become immense kills again though which is super nice
Sideboard: 2 Grafdigger's Cage 1 Relic of Progenitus 1 Viridian Corrupter 3 Shapers' Sanctuary (Not currently legal in Modern) 1 Carrion Call 2 Dispel 1 Dissenter's Deliverance 1 Nature's Claim 1 Search for Azcanta (Not currently legal in Modern) 1 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar 1 Dryad Arbor
I think he is right we will start moving to more of a mixed UG mana base rather than the predominantly green one we currently run which is probably the reason he has cut down to 1 Vines of Vastwood
Personally I think all his points on Opt are pretty spot on, although in my opinion its real strength comes at finding that piece of protection in response to a kill spell, meaning I'm not sure i agree with the singleton Vines, I could see running more Apostle's Blessing maybe even over Distortion Strike if our mana is going to be harder now being able to cast blessing off an inkmoth will help, and at worst it gives semi evasion
that 1 Piracy Charm and Search for Azcanta look like straight rubbish though
I think there is something to be said about playing magic on the stack. Imo that's where opt's strength lies.
I think this is worth testing because of the shenanigans on the stack. We also get to hold mana up for spell pierce/dispel and if nothing happens we opt in their end step.
In terms of swinging and having to interact on the stack opt does it and serum visions/Sleight of hand Doesn't we screen the card and if its good draw it or get to see another getting us out of trouble maybe.
Thoughts on the points i've made ? Im interested in hearing others opinions on the card in infect.
This sounds spot on to me, it gives us the chance to find protection or a counter at instant speed to potentially save our dude on the stack
I think the whole opt in the opponents endstep will come up less than what people are saying, a good player only interacts with our creature in our endstep or normally on their turn, meaning casting opt on the opponents endstep will only be a thing if we already have protection in hand otherwise we are giving them a free shot at our creature(mind games aside)
the Question is how much better is the instant scry over seeing the opponents hand because peek seems to weak
regardless I'm excited to test and have fingers crossed
New to the deck and looking at a build to put together and a few card choices stand out
i see most lists now play 3 scavenging ooze, first question is why so many? and which match ups does this card shine against, apart from the obvious dredge etc
second i see almost every list has 3 fulminator mage, this card seems bad against E-Tron as they dont really rely on the tron set up, and tron seems pretty dead so where else is it brought in? is it mana denial for the fragile death shadow mana base?
And you are still wrong. Metagame shifts affect modern vastly and infect does best in faster formats.
Exactly this! it isn't a surprise that in the last few weeks the rise of storm and scapeshift and even UW control has lead to more infect decks poping up and doing well, with infect completely off peoples radars i wouldn't be surprised to see it keep showing up in leagues for the next few weeks
Personally I wish chalice if the void wasn't a thing and that would give us a good match up against one of the main players in the format
An Infect deck without Glistener Elf seems strange and I really dislike Disrupting Shoal as a card (even in a Mono Blue deck).
Having Blossoming Defense in the SB and not in the maindeck seems really questionable as well.
yeah its easy to pull it apart and disagree with card choices but like i said its the only infect deck putting up results, might be time to start testing it before judging it to harshly
ha didnt think of that, a lot of the time i find i have them dead on board if my architect or master can survive until the next turn this just seems like a low cost way to help that situation, with the bonus of buying a turn against storm and ad nauseam rather than it being its soul purpose, i can see how it could just be a little to cute though
with the disruptive game plan going along with the aggro, would Hope of Ghirapur be any good? its a 1 drop so fits in with the game plan, can be fetched against combo with trinket mage, and could often buy you that 1 extra turn I find I need to seal up quite a few games
Hey been playing the deck for a little while now, and the games i win the most and are the most one sided seem to come from the stax elements, with this in mind any thoughts on Ethersworn Canonist?
ok looking at the jadoth shell, how are the match ups? specifically burn, death shadow, coco decks affinity and control? and from some experienced players how do you navigate these matches?
since bant eldrazi seems to be so hard mainly due to eldrazi displacer, how about a phyrexian revoker in the board as a tutor target? also helps other bad match ups like tron or ad nauseam etc
Hey guys! Been thinking about buying into the deck after playing it a ton online, problem is my local meta swings from a ton of control (which I know the deck does great against) to all burn and zoo, I hear mixed reviews on how this match up is and want to know what I can do to give myself the best chance in this meta
Hey so I play in a pretty heavy control meta, with decks like, jeskai, jeskai nahiri, jund, mardu control, then a few combo decks no real aggro to speak of, how would you adjust cory's list for this type of meta?
so i see seismic assault in a few deck lists that have gone 5-0 on mtgo, what is it for? is it like a plan B to dome them with this combined with loam, or is it for an aggro meta? just wanted some opinions because it feels out of place........

might be time to start testing this as its the only version of infect putting up any results, get the hive mind pushing the list further!!!
