Vexing Devil can't give Experiment One his fourth counter. You need something with a power or toughness of 5 or higher for that. Avatar of the Resolute fulfills that role in my build because I have a dozen other creatures that enter with counters, causing him to typically ETB as at least a 5/4, and sometimes substantially larger.
IMO, Kird Ape should be run by default. I'm running Greenwheel, but only because I have a ton of counter synergy to pump out a huge Avatar of the Resolute (and in the process, get that fourth counter on Experiment One). If I didn't have that tech going then I would be running a different card in its place. Having to play a Greenwheel Liberator without Revolt sucks, and it does happen in practice.
Rancor is a solid card for Revolt Zoo. Adding Trample is really beneficial and for 1 mana, you'll often get an extra 4+ damage through. The only reason I'm not running it is to keep my non-creature count as low as possible so Lead the Stampede can flood the board with creatures when the deck needs to grind or recover from a board wipe. If you are running a ~17 land + Simian Spirit Guide build, 2x Rancor is a reasonable choice though.
Yeah, I'm running Kird Ape default too. I like the 4th counter on Experiment One but with that in mind, some list run a couple of Vexing Devil.
I got 3-0 with this list in modern night against Eldrazi Death & Taxes, Bant Eldrazi and Storm. It was so explosive, opponent hardly able to react. I pulled off a 13 damage on turn 2 off Experiment One on turn 1, BTE, Wild Nacatl, exile SSG, Reckless Bushwhacker. The only issue I find is that, kind relying on die roll. Most of the time you'll win on the play. I'm still thinking how to play the deck when on the draw.
Any chance Siege Modification could be an option ? I know we may lost 2 cards for 1 removal spell, but Bristling Hydra with it seems like a very huge threat.
Yeah, maybe. Wedge manabase sure is better than shard.
The more I look at the non combo list, the more I like it. Seems to be more consistent. The 9 power by turn 3 curve really does get my attention. I'm not sure I like Woodland Wanderer though. I would prefer Rishkar, Peema Renegade and [card]Verdurous Gearhulk/card] as you can ramp, go wide and big at the same time.
I like Narnam Renegade and I believe it fits in the deck. I'm not sure about Hidden Herbalists, but the card best to replace BTE but I think BTE is better at colour fixing. I also like Oath of Ajani. By turn 4, we should have 3-5 beaters with 4 power.
I personally don't quite prefer Cathartic Reunion from bad experience. I always thought World Breaker would fit in somehow to stabilize the curve. Less explosive than Ulamog, but at least can be cast.
My GPKL report, 4-5. Very poor and did a lot of mistakes.
R1 and R2 : Bye R3 vs Esper Midrange (0-2) : Made 2 mistakes here. 1) Had 3 card types in graveyard, should have cast Kozilek's Return first and activate Marvel, got an Ishkanah but I did the other way round. 2) His 4 attackers vs my 4 blockers from Ishkanah and tokens, I cast Kozilek's Return, killing only 1 of his board and that cost me the game. R4 vs RB Aggro (1-2) : Game 2 pulled off T4 Ulamog despite Lost Legacy named Emrakul in the previous turn. Super lucky, but my luck ran out in game 3. Both stuck with 2 lands for a while, continuously got hit by Bomat and burn spells, played 3 Woodweaver's Puzzleknot to stall but not enough. I got my 4th land a fast land and I was one turn away. R5 vs Temur Colossus (1-2) : It just the matter of who assembled the combo pieces first and I failed to do so. My mistake in game 3 was that, I know he had Ceremonious Rejection when I milled his deck in game 1, but in game 2, I still cast Marvel with him having one open mana from Cultivator's Caravan. R6 vs WR Vehicle (1-2) : Game 3 he curved so well, nothing much I can do. R7 vs Grixis Control (2-1) : Lost game 1 due to tardiness. Both game 2 pulled off Ulamog in T4. Game 3 pulled off Emrakul with Dispel and Negate as protection. R8 vs GW Midrange (2-1) : Mistake in game 1 was to allow Blossoming Defense to resolve after she asked me how many energy to spend from Harnessed Lightning. It happened again in game 3, so the Blossoming Defense did not happen. Game 2 mistake was +1 Gideon and thought Fairgrounds Warden able to exile it. R9 vs Mardu Vehicle (0-2) : He played well and wide. Game 1 Marvel did not hit and game 2 Kozilek's Return was countered by Ceremonious Rejection.
Yeah my bad. What I meant was 4th P/T.

Interesting. You could be up to something here, but I think it is a bit risky considering Vehicles are still around.

Any chance the deck can go to jund route ? It gives access to Fatal Push, Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, Winding Constrictor.
