Typically it will depend on what has happened since you forgot. If you move on to make other move, it will typically be a missed trigger.

  • posted a message on Theros: Play or draw?
Basically, what I'm asking in the title. After playing in the prerelease this weekend, I think I had more wins while on the play, but I'm still not quite sure yet. The appeal of drawing in M14 was the huge amount of cheap removal and one for ones, and the lack of ways to obtain card advantage. Theros on the other hand has pretty bad removal and a focus on making big creatures with bestow and heroic effects, making creatures a lot more powerful and important. Additionally, all of the scry may not give card advantage, but being able to control your draws definitely makes the extra card less important.

My bet would be 18 lands (generally) and to be on the play if I could do the prerelease again, but I'm not sure I'd be right in doing that. Additionally, in sealed PTQs and other tournaments, everyone will not have a guaranteed bomb and a seeded pack and the format is likely to be somewhat slower.

I feel like I drew a lot more than I should have, coming off of M14, and just being in the habit. Honestly, though, the format does seem to be rather slow and with the high cost of many cards, missing out on a land drop can hurt. What do you guys think?

Mainly wondering this for sealed, as I think draft is basically just "play".

Day[9] and Felicia Day are great hosts of whatever they do. On top of that, more publicity for magic is better. I don't see why people are flipping out about this since they're hosting this magic show on their geekandsundry Youtube channel. If you don't like it then don't watch. Non-pro magic players have been making Youtube shows and podcasts about magic forever and noone used to give a damn. I don't know why elitist magic players think that anyone whose not a platinum pro can't make anything related to magic. The way they talk you'd think they owned the brand or something.

Agree with this. Seriously. I honestly think Evan Erwin makes the best content entertainment-wise and he is far from a pro. Complaining about this is stupid. >_<

And I can't really understand the mindset of people who spend money on cards which they never plan to use in a tournament :/

    Draft, draft, draft. ^ ^

Unless you're planning on competing in standard this block and want access to all the cards, you can generally get more value and have additional chances at prizes through drafting and limited tournaments...

Sorry but MODO blows. Hate me if you want for bringing Hex up, but while it's gameplay is a complete rip off of MTG, it at least has appealing graphics and interface and it looks like the company actually put effort into the game. MTGO looks like something from 90s that hasn't been updated (I'm aware that it actually has) since...I'm only bringing that up because it's shows just how little Wizards puts into MODO...

You pay more to draft online in general, which just isn't worth it, and online PTQs don't even offer travel last time I checked...so wait, online PTQs come at the same price, with more players and higher competition, but only offer packs as prizes?

Plus, you're paying the same if not more for virtual packs, while the cards go for less. And then take away the social interaction and fun of going to a tournament...

MTGO is a great testing ground for pro players but the average scrub is just wasting their money. I for one will stick to real life card events.

Is the OP a pro? I'm working in the assumption he isn't. I was merely providing information about how "normal" nerds (take that as you will) are treated in "normal" society. If you'd like to provide counterexamples, by all means do. But don't undercut perfectly valid information with shot-in-the-dark questions.

    Perfectly valid information? XD

Sure, but the otaku hate is for completely unrelated things, and I'm not sure you've realized the popularity of tcgs in Japan.

Anyways, OP, I wouldn't worry too much about the change, I've had many games with people who don't speak english and we've been able to communicate just fine. Gestures and...well, just playing seem to be enough...

Ask her why she wants to send pregnant women into battle. By that logic the army is sexist because they don't draft pregnant women (I hope).

I would have played it out and beaten him. I've played against douchebags before, and nothing's more satisfying than beating them and watching them get even more pissed. XD

Who cares if you play, but if you win then try to negotiate so you get the first place prize and opponent gets second place prize and the byes (reporting they won of course).

  • posted a message on Writing down every single card, is it allowed?
he could just have written down all cards played and milled so he could have done the same thing as the game goes on. I believe theres a limit to the space a player has for note taking in a match, but it would be legal. After the game is over, I don't think you'd have to though.

I never said that they should be punished, the fact that they got the byes in the first place and not have to worrie about a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round loss is enough of a reward.

Quit whining. The fact that they earned the byes in the first place allows them to gain further points. They had to get the byes in the first place. If you can't get the byes, then that's your problem. The fact that you have to play the first rounds is your own fault for not getting the byes...
