Sol ring warps deckbuilding quite a bit by providing a solid worst case scenario for many copy effects and artifact tutors, for example:

copy artifact, sculpting steel, phyrexian metamorph, dack fayden and possibly even clever impersonator would be solid cards anyway, but are way better because of sol ring's ubiquity

praetor's grasp, fabricate and trinket mage are all solid includes that would be somewhere between mediocre to bad without omnipresent sol ring.

Dizzy spell is playable thanks to sol ring (the plethora of good 1cmc cards in EDH is also necessary for it to be playable, but without sol ring it wouldn't be worth running)

thada adel, acquisitor as commander is pretty much dependent on being able to collect sol rings as a worst case scenario

Hell, any cheap tutor (enlightened/demonic/vampiric), while never bad to have in hand, is so much better drawn early game or in your opener when sol ring exists.

Magma burst is like... at least 5 times as strong a card as lightning blast.

Almost nothing in pauper cube survives lightning bolt. Magma burst is pretty much "destroy two target creatures" (or the also very useful searing blaze+ mode if needed)

Thrasios + Tymna is really good. Like, top 5 decks in the format good.

Uh... in a real competitive meta? There's no way. Post your deck to r/competitiveedh if you want to corroborate that opinion.

I can see them being a strong build, but your deck's curve is way too high and battlecruiser-y, it has too many cute cards like liliana's specter, paradoxical outcome, mirrorpool etc, and it's generally pulling in too many different directions.

You could play boonweaver giant combo, it's much faster. It's interesting that you get to add blue compared to something like karador, but I'm not sure any combination of partner commanders helps the combo plan enough to be the strongest choice for the command zone.

also, Tasigur is better with seedborn muse

You playing him with the other u/g partner? Because that just looks like a ton of fun.

I'm actually playing him with Tymna the Weaver. My four color deck didn't have a true commander prior to Commander 2016 and Atraxa isn't useful for my deck beyond being a good source of life. Of all the combinations of partners, Thrasios and Tymna seemed the best for my particular GWUB deck. They're not especially synergystic, but Thrasios does curve out into Tymna which is worth something.

My first crack at a tymna brew was this GWUB hatebears (bant splashing black, mainly just for tymna) but I went with kydele because I just literally never see myself wanting to cast or activate thrasios. If I don't have a better turn 2 play than him I definitely should not have kept that hand.

Not that kydele is much better, though. She can easily tap for 3 mana here but at that point the deck would already be rolling and she'd be win-more.
I picked up Thrasios as my win-con. Before C16 my 4c deck relied on Kiki-Jiki to win, but since you can draw your deck with Thrasios + infinite mana, I could cut redundant combos (and replace red with black). Tymna helps me during the game, Thrasios helps me end it.

I see. I don't use infinite combos, so to me thrasios is just garbage

If your plan is to combo out, I don't really see why you'd even bother with any of the partner commanders

It doesn't seem worth trying to capitalize on his card draw. I think you just have to cast him and swing him at people, and if he sticks and draws a card or two, great. If not, whatever, you weren't really counting on that ability triggering anyway.

I don't play duel commander, but kraum with vial smasher seems potentially silly there since the change to 20 life. With vial smasher in play, kraum is a constant threat of 9 to the face (vial smasher trigger + swing with flying and haste)

At least rite is an acceptable 2UU spell worst case, get yourself a nice critter and/or ETB trigger. And the 9 mana version wins the game if it works.

1UU boomerang is less acceptable, and capsize can't singlehandedly win without other pieces unless the game goes to turn 30

Kraum is so tempting just for the constant threat of blasting your opponent for 9 (vial trigger + kraum swings with flying and haste)

The results of these polls always have at least one thing that totally baffles me.

Capsize is a top blue card? In MY 2016??

Without infinite mana or seedborn muse in play the card just sucks

I'm astounded that people don't recognize the strength of tymna the weaver. She is actually very efficient. She can accurately be described as a slightly weaker edric, spymaster of trest: She doesn't snowball as hard because she caps at drawing 2-3 cards (but drawing "just" 2-3 cards, potentially more than once, for 3 mana would be crazy good!) but she has access to any colors you want, up to 4 colors at once.

Outside of uses in infinite combos, none of the other partners seem particularly useful to me. Presuming both your commanders are threatening or useful enough to be worth answering, though, that is definitely a real form of card advantage.

Imagine I play tymna and ishai, ojutai dragonspeaker as commanders. For the sake of the example let's say both of these are threatening enough you want to remove them (tymna draws cards and ishai kills with commander damage in 3-4 hits.) I can cast tymna for 3 mana and re-cast her for 5 mana, and I can cast ishai at 4 mana and 6 mana. That's a lot of stuff to answer just from my command zone.

For 3 mana old man of the sea definitely seems busted, since whenever your stolen creature dies you can steal something else. At least you can avoid getting 2 for 1'd if you can kill the old man promptly.
