Wow, was play testing Approach of the Second Sun with Show and Tell, Omniscience, and Griselbrand - and yeah, this card is meant for this deck! Forget the usual Emrakul or big beater for the win, this card is way more fun. After you cast your first sun, you can just re-draw it again with Griselband (since it gets put in your library 7th from your top card) and you cast again that same turn for your win Smile Another really cool thing is that even if your opponent tries to counter it, the "cast from your hand" effect still resolves.

I also added Enlightened Tutor for Omniscience search, and Personal Tutor to look for Show and Tell. Sensei's Divining Top is perfect here because these tutors force you to put your combo pieces ontop of your library, then you can draw into them with The Top.

I can't stand players that whine in general, about losing to anything, whether it be by clock, life, cards in library, poison, combos, net decks, etc.. If you're that much of a brat about losing in a card game, I can't imagine what life must be like when you're facing real life struggles outside of Magic. Just STFU and play.

If you are new to Magic the Gathering, then I would recommend first playing the free-to-play application Magic Duels.

This is not how you learn to play MTGO. If you want to learn Magic Online, you have to actually play it. I get what your saying, Duels is for beginners, but new players can at least get a solitaire session going on MTGO to get at least a feel for the interface.

The blue god is pretty solid, lets you draw cards and bounce lands to their owner's hands (could be great if you are trying to do something with landfall). And he's a 5/5 for 3 mana.

I'm trying to figure out how this fares with Wheel of Fate. Comparing it to Legacy hasn't brought me any insight since LED,Petals, etc aren't legal in this format, so you are not "drawing seven cards" strictly like older formats.

Still, i think As Foretold is a super interesting card and the biggest two components to work are Restore Balance and Ancestral Vision

Suspend cards are amazing with As Foretold. Although you still have to pay into suspend costs for suspend cards, it's quite a bonus when cards coming out of suspend are timed with free spells. Not sure if Twincast is a thing anymore, but that could be potentially abusive. I'm glad that the enchantment is not legendary, having multiples out would be silly fun. I still would like to try utility cards from Timespiral block to get as many time counters on it as early in the game as possible.

As long as Wizards is making money, MTGO will never be buried. In the 6 years of my MTGO experiences, I have never cared for drafting or entering any events. I use it strictly for casual play and to play test cards to help me determine if anything is worthy enough to build into a physical deck. It does have some benefits. I like how you can add any card from your collection into any deck. The card filtering is OK, although I've seen other apps with much better filtering. I used to play a lot more when the client was V3, but I have to agree, V4 is completely rubbish. Sure, the graphics are better, but not by much (Duels of the Planeswalkers dominates in that respect). Although there have been updates to the UI over the years, it's still terrible. The gameplay is painfully slow, partly due to being prompted every time for options that are sometimes not available. Example of this is when it asks if you want to cast instants or activate abilities when I have no instants to cast or no abilities to activate at that time. Another annoyance is when my opponent attacks with an unblockable creature or any creature with evasion, and then I get asked to declare blockers that have no way of blocking their creatures. This makes no sense.

Hopefully all of the woes and cons that have plagued MTGO will be addressed with Magic Digital Next, which is the new project Wizards is working on. They're going to have to, if they have any chance of competing against rivals like Hearthstone and the like, which are currently dominating in the digital arena.

Here's an interesting article regarding Digital Next:

I seriously doubt they will remove players' collections when that time approaches. I'm sure it's fair to say that Wizards has lost a portion of its MTGO fanbase (maybe not lost, just in hibernation), and removing their cards when DN becomes available would be shooting themselves in the foot.

The online client is absolutely terrible. I'm not sure how other players think it's great, but it's been in serious need of a revamp. As far as the digital market, Hearthstone and others have been dominating compared to MTGO. Sad that Magic was the card game that started it all and is getting killed here.

So don't know if I sound dumb but would this allow you to circumvent the timing restricts on cards?

I'm not sure of this one either. I hope this isn't comparing apples and oranges, but here's 2 examples that help differentiate timing rules:

    When timing restrictions apply --
    Temporal Aperture

Because the ability specifies a duration ("until end of turn") rather than specifically telling you to play it right then and there as it's resolving, you need to abide by timing restrictions when playing the card that Temporal Aperture's ability will reveal.

When timing restrictions do not apply --
    Djinn of Wishes

The rules don't specify a duration. Its ability say "you may play ()." So, as the ability is resolving, you either play () or don't. Timing restrictions don't matter because you're simply following the steps of resolving the ability.

As Foretold does say "Once each turn" , otherwise if it did not include this, my guess would be timing restrictions would be ignored. But what do I know...

I can't tell which ones are more irritating - these new ones or the ones from Kamigawa block.

I was never a big fan of split cards from any of the sets. If I had to pick, the Invasion/Time Spiral block are still the best looking.

I wonder if you can cast the aftermath part of the new split cards with it?

I don't see why not. A card with aftermath states you're casting it from another zone other than your hand (in this case, the graveyard). As Foretold has no restrictions that force you to cast a spell from a specific zone.

My immediate response was that I would need one copy for EDH.

After thinking about it a little more the wish for my first ever modern deck grew and grew.
Cards to keep in mind for that purpose: Ancestral Vision, Restore Balance, Lotus Bloom,
Wheel of Fate, Living End, Simian Spirit Guide, Greater Gargadon + good instants and cards with flash

Oh wow! Suspend cards - that definitely has great potential Smile
I think you're right, we're probably going to see this card making cameos in Modern decks for sure!

So, As Foretold was spoiled yesterday. Did anyone else besides me go EEK! ?

My first thought was, "did they really just come out with something that is strikingly similar to Aether Vial?" Then I had to reassure myself that it's not nearly as insane. But it has one major advantage over Vial in that it doesn't limit you to getting critters out for free. It's ANY SPELL, provided you have enough time counters on it. The drawback is you only get to do it once per turn (once a turn is enough, don't you think?), and the spell must be cast, vs. putting a creature directly onto the battlefield. The only disadvantage Vial has is that the creature getting put into play has to equal the number of charge counters on Aether Vial, whereas this one says you can cast a spell with converted mana cost X mana or less. That opens up more options.

Not sure how it will do in Standard, but I'm already thinking of other things that could make it fun in casual format, maybe Clockspinning, Gilder Bairn, Timebender.

I'm sure I'll get used to the navigation in the game menus, but the game play was absolutely horrific versus V3. Things took noticeably long to respond and was extremely clunky. Every turn was a mission to complete, whereas in V3 every animation/step/transition is quite smooth - all I do is quickly *click, *click, *click and end my turn. Even the tapping of lands had a delay. During an attack phase on my turn I selected both my creatures to attack, clicked ok, and noticed they never got placed in the attack zone. Zooming in on cards was a pain in the ass, as I kept having to mash my center mouse button until finally the card would zoom in, but then wouldn't stay zoomed in despite my pressing down on the mouse button. I had to keep clicking to zoom back in. After playing only a few games I couldn't take it anymore, I wanted to go back to the old client. Too bad - I hope they fix it.

This needs to be moved to casual. Standard means Zenikar block forward.

As I said, I had posted it on the Casual forum but I was hoping to get a little help here. I guess there's no exceptions to be made here. Sorry for apparently flooding the Standard forum with my spam.

Sorry to post this here, but I posted in the Casual forums and only got 2 responses. I was hoping I'd get more replies here. Anyway...

    First –
Starting with blue cards, I need some instant or sorcery ideas that would make for some hilarious multiplayer fun with Hive Mind.

    Second –
I can’t decide if keeping the deck mono blue will make it work well, or adding another color. Initially I was thinking red. What other non blue instant or sorceries would work?

NOTE: I already know about the Pacts and how funny that could be - I'd like other ideas

    Other stuff –

Blue mana acceleration – I was thinking Apprentice Wizard and High Tide?

Cheat Spells – I was thinking either Braids, Conjurer Adept or Show and Tell.

    Finally –

I didn’t want to rely just on HM for fun. I was also thinking of Eye of the Storm? Any other ideas?
