If this thread has become TL;DR for you, let me see if I can sum it up:
Some people think that the 'strategic concession' is just fine.
Some people think that it's really bad.
Neither side is likely to win the other over to their argument.

Sheldon posted a message on Power Creep, Local 'ban' lists, Travelling, Newer Players and You.Posted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from GundamGuyI'm not a fan of local banned lists, this is one of the areas I disagree with the RC. Never knowing if the deck you take on travel or to a tournament in another area is going to be over-powered / under-powered, follow house rules, be frowned upon etc is well just annoying.
Hitting the sweet spot is really hard to do.
This is actually the purpose of the Banned List--so that you know exactly what you're getting into when you go to an "untrusted" environment. House rules are meant for four people sitting around a kitchen table, not the city of Peoria. -

Solemn Sim posted a message on [[Official]] Unreleased and New Card DiscussionHas anyone mentioned how nice Spelltwine will be with Talrand? That's 3 tokens in one spell. Also with Riku, if you've 5UUUUUURRRRR spare.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
And the Hellion-making land is probably OK. Sad thing you have to sacrifice it, though. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Negatory, good sir!
With most (1 exception: reflection) mana doubling effects, the LAND does not tap for extra mana, the extra mana is produced by the doubler itself. Your land only ever taps for 1 mana, then the doubler triggers and adds another.
Furthermore, I have just learned that replacement effects and what mana is produced has some funky interactions. For exapmle, lets say a Gauntlet of Power(white) is out, with a Contamination. A player taps a plains for :symw:, what end result of mana is added to their pool?
Well, either way, you're wrong. It's :symb::symw:. Weird? Ya. But the gauntlet actually checks what the land was tapped for, not what the replacement event eventually changes to. Weird, but it's a way around mana replacement stuffs.
Note, that this is different for Mana Flare, which cares about what is actually produced. Messed up.

That is incorrect.
Targets are chosen as the ability is put on the stack, choosing to pay the cost is part of the resolution of the ability. Lorthos will always target, even if you choose to not pay mana during the resolution of the ability.

And +2/+2, and giving you a bad-ass blocker vs. all them sylvan primordials, and a fair number of commanders.

Clone Variants that copy on entering: http://magiccards.info/query?q=o%3A%22+enter+the+battlefield+as+a+copy%22&v=card&s=cname
Cryptoplasm like things, that become a copy, after being in play: http://magiccards.info/query?q=o%3A%22copy%22+o%3A%22become%22&v=card&s=cname
Things that trigger into copies, or similar: magiccards.info/query?q=o%3Acopy+o%3Acreature+o%3Aenters&v=card&s=cname
Things that populate: http://magiccards.info/query?q=o%3Apopulate&v=card&s=cname
Spells that put token copies of stuff around: http://magiccards.info/query?q=o%3A%22+that%27s+a+copy%22+o%3Atarget+o%3Acreature+o%3Abattlefield&v=card&s=cname
Copy Spells: http://magiccards.info/query?q=O%3A%22copy+target%22+o%3Ainstant&v=card&s=cname
Things that make a copy of a spell, and then cast the copy: http://magiccards.info/query?q=o%3A%22cast+the+copy%22&v=card&s=cname
I think that should about be 99% of them, if not all; note, due to wording some searches have results in the wrong area. Wort is in the section where things enter (because she makes two tokens), but in reality she's for copying spells. Whatever.

White can add quite a bit, from Rememberance, to Mistveil plains to put demons back on the bottom to tutor again. Enduring Renewal can be good, and Edgewalker makes your clerics Free. Black can give the new necro that also gives a zombie whenever a human dies, as well as blood artist and co, so you can abuse Shirei or Lifeline even more.
Green gives Fecundity, and Dual Nature could be quite useful, as can Wild Pair.
You can use Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth, Chromatic Lantern, Prismatic Omen, Blanket of Night, or even Contamination or Infernal Darkness to allow your lands to tap for black, allowing Mirari's Wake, or any of the artifact Gauntlets to super charge your lands. Then use your extort buddies for hilarious fun.

Pestilence is always good, the mini starfish only come in at end of turn, so you can pestilence/regen the starfish a couple of times in a turn.
Also, there's a bunch more self-resurecting black creatures, like Nether Shadow, but I don't remember them all. There's one where I think you can sac a land on the upkeep? Also, theres a number of good resurrection cards, and raise-dead type stuff, like Oversold Cemetary, Strands of Night, etc.

Fancy fancy.
Also, the FAQ is up, blinky stuff does not work with the new until creatures.
