I don't like lists that have instant losses against Iona.

You can be sure that there will be no mono burn champion without answers to Leyline and Iona.

I just played a ton of games against Zoo yesterday using the build I posted a page back and crushed every game but one.

    Dude, a question.
Using your list. What would you side in/out against zoo?

I think i may be trying your list. I have been using the punishing fire/grove.... synergy, buts i think it is not that solid.

    a) Crucible is for wasteland lock/mutavault or mishra's factory inevitability plans. This is amazing versus control decks and decks with fragile mana bases. I'll let you figure out what those are.

    b) oblivion ring is a be-all, end-all removal spell for things like opposing planeswalkers and the like. I don't run it, personally.

    c) Jitte is for aggro, especially swarm. Goblins and Merfolk simply CANNOT beat a resolved Jitte.

    d) Disenchant is for random pesky enchantments and artifacts, of course! You see how we run things like batterskull? Disenchant can kill it for good (if you use it correctly, of course)

    nice!

I have been testing the deck (finally i got all of it) i'll share my list later, when i become comfortable with one.

I was just wondering about the SB, because sometimes there are specific counter-strategies in mind when picking the SB cards Smile

    a. Crucible of Worlds
    b. Oblivion Ring

    d. disenchant?

    what about pithing needle?

That would work against Tormod and the Ooze?

    thoughts?

And last but not least, play Firestorm. That card is really awesome in the current metagame. It stops KotR and Ooze early in the game. You should really run at least 4 in the board, if not some main.

I run 4 of them SB.

The thing is that I have faced a NO Elves with Ooze, wich means he can easily cast and activate Ooze for a considerable amount on turn 3. (priest of titania, gaea's cradle, and that elve that untaps two other elves)

    That is pretty rough.

if he had 7 free mana when he cast it, he was probably going to win anyway. scavenging ooze is something dredge cant really do much against, however, its not really common at all seeing as it

I have been seeing it a lot lately. Mostly con Zenith based decks.

The thing is terrible on an Elves deck you can cast it and activate it for 5 mana pretty quick (gaea's cradle, priest of titania, and that other elve that untaps two elves)

QUESTION: what can we do against Scavenging Ooze????

I played a NO Elves that has it maindeck (plus green sun) and it kicked my ass very badly.

Firestorm is not really an option as it can grow bigger with removing creatures (he removed 5 cards from my graveyard the turn he cat it)

Bouncing is no option either, cause it only costs 2 mana and can be easily cast again.

I even thought about siding swords to plowshares!!!

    THOUGHTS???

Trinisphere doesn't counter spells, it just requires the usage of three manas. And Shattering spree replicated twice is 3 mana, so trinisphere doesn't do anything for it. So you can pay RRR under trinisphere to shatter 3 artifacts

And for Batterskull, I prefer Smash to Smithereens, as you can break Batterskull after they have dropped Batterskull at our end of turn. Without counters, that game will be much easier (actually, we might win instead of autolose) to win after breaking that annoying equipment...

Sorry!!!! I meant chalice of the void!!!! oops

You do realise that you have to actually play Null Rod right away, because as a top deck it doesn't do anything? Also it's just dead if they don't draw Vial.

If I were you I'd keep Rod in the sideboard but swap Shattering Spree for Smash to Smithereens. That way I'd have something that deals damage to side in when I can't use PoPs. Just my two cents bro.

yes, I understand, but I would have probably used instead the third null rod or the full set of tormod/reliques, anyway, well done!

I understand you guys. I wasn't the best call probably, and I was really lucky that it gave me the match.

On the other hand, Shattering Spree over Smash to Smithereens is something i'll never change. With lots of blue in my meta, and a a couple of MUDs that play me Trinisphere, the replicate ability is awsome!!! cause he needs to counter all of them, and also the replicate copy has no casting cost, so can't be countered by trinisphere.

Well done sir. I do have to be an ass though and ask why on earth would you ever side Null Rod against goblins. With your list I would only do it if they played nothing but basic lands and PoP would be 100% dead.

I thought of Null Rod against Vial, because Price wans't 100% dead, but pretty much. I also sided shattering spree, but that was a little too much.

Null Rod gave me the game, cause it make him slow enough for me to burn him.

well done dude, and too bad for the last match, but hey, bad luck happens sadly Frown

The deck is similar to mine, do you think that if you had used Needle over null rod it would have been worse?

why only two reb in side?

I think needle over null rod is worse indeed. I have been having some problems against Affinity and MUD, and a turn 2 null rod is a beauty.

The 2 RED in the side is just because of not having available slots Smile I had to make room for the phyrexian metamorph (so it will copy Iona), and for the Anarchy against leyline!
