But I despise the notion that mythics need be great cards - heck, they don't even need to be good cards.
They don't have to be good, but they should be fun. This card isn't going to spark joy in anyone. A Pest token and a Fractal token would've changed the whole card. It's both a flavor fail and a power-level fail. That's fine at common, but not at the top rarity. I despise it when people defend WotC regardless of the company's obvious fail.
If you don't want it, don't buy it. Easy. There's so many terrible things going on in the world to worry about. Why do you people care so much how other people spend their money? I like Secret Lair. I'm going to spend more money on it in the future. I indicated some interest in the membership program when I took the survey and I'm sure many other's did too.
LOOOVE this card. Kahlni Heart Expedition + Steppe Lynx was my jam back in the day. I'm going to build a $20 budget Zoo deck that my nephew can beat up on his friends with at the kitchen table. Then I'm going to secretly build a version with Fetches and all the other stuff those kids can't afford and proceed to beat the living snot out of him at Thanksgiving. Why? Because those stupid lands are required for anyone to really compete at the tournament level and it's important for him to learn early on that WotC doesn't want us to have nice things. Now where on Earth did I put my Plated Geopede's? Probably next to my Adventuring Gear's.
This card's pretty fantastic, especially since it's also a white land. These modal land/spell cards are so much better than you people are giving them credit for. Especially in a set that is coupled with Landfall. They're like the Swiss Army knives that a plane like Zendikar requires. This is a land in the first couple turns when I need it and a finisher when I draw it late.
It doesn't look splashy but this is a good addition to token strategies in EDH, specifically for and . Sometime's the pump spell will do some real work. Often times it will be a land that white decks so often need. This will be a 1.00 card after Mitch wins a game with it on Commander's Quarters.
Harmonic Sliver, Manaweft Sliver, and Sinew Sliver!! Whoop! Whoop!
I’ll be interested in tracking down a copy of each, especially if they had new art! Harmonic Sliver is somewhat challenging to find nm/m foils Of.
My understanding is the art is of the most recently printed art. So... no new art.
Also... Storm Crow and Chimney Imp?....
Because Wizards thinks it’s better to give us meme cards, rather than something we might actually want and use.
There's definitely a market for Storm Crow. I'm pretty critical about the stuff WotC prints these days but the added foils in this set get a nod and a 'that'll do pig' from me.
Lots of words on this thread. In other news I made a big batch of chili yesterday and am getting great reviews from all the coworkers I fed. The sun is shining, the snow is melting and I can finally go outside w/o a coat. For once my dog didn't track mud around the house nor did he pee on the floor this morning. All in all life's not that bad. If Zombieland taught us anything it's to enjoy the little things.
I am so in love with this Secret Lair product line! Keep em coming! I'm sorry some of you don't like/understand it. I get it, I feel the same way about Standard. You get your Embercleave and I get my Slivdrazi Monstrosity. Something for everyone!
The price point is completely acceptable. It's normal for companies to price goods and services at a level that attracts a target audience. After decades of playing this game, I'm willing to pay a premium for unique products that are more visually appealing. I'd be much less interested if they cost $10 each and every 13 year old had a pile of them in their trade binder. Also keep in mind that most, if not all, of these Secret Lair cards will appreciate in value over time given their scarcity. Let's wait a few years before we start discussing their value.
Voltron Zur is at least mildly curious. I'm glad to see this, it feels really bad to go to enchantment world and have Zur get so few toys
Voltron Uril, the Miststalker feels the same way. But whatever, it's not like Uril and Zur are hurting for busted options. At least my Lorthos deck is going to be noticeably less janky.
Looks like a good limited card. I might've included it in EDH builds if it was five cards. It would've been awesome if they made it uncommon and upped it to six.
