Oni Replica should have Ogre Offering, correct?

Yeah, it has Ogre Offering. Smile

What the?!? where am I supposed to get those fonts!?!:Psyduck::Psyduck::Psyduck:
    *cries in a corner*

You can google and download them, I suppose. I got them at the MSE site, but now that the download section has been taken down, you'll have to look elsewhere. Maybe there's more information on how to procure them in the Magic Software subforum.

I have a question... Moss_Elemental said my text was italic, but in fact it wasn't. I was using Georgia Text so it might have looked that way to him, so what font do MTG go around with? As far I could tell, it's a bit of an "in between" of Georgia Text and Times New Roman.

It's Matrix Bold for the card name and card type; Matrix for artist name; MPlantin for the text box and flavor text and copyright; Matrix Bold Small Caps for P/T.

    Congratulations!

As SALAd said, with the wild variation among the judges, it could've easily gone to one of about five finalist's way. I even thought Gaervac was going to win.

I'm disappointed over a couple of things this round, but there's nothing that can be done about it now. You guys have fun in the December FCC... I'm taking the month off and hopefully do better in January.

Let's just let nightshift explain it.

And besides, my judging's not gonna change. The way it's worded is correct but it's so hard to wrap my head around; imagine if this thing were printed. Everyone and their uncle would be wondering what it does exactly.

Ok then. I was around yesterday but didn't post anything 'cause I thought you weren't done with my card yet.

I think that like in most magic cards, it's easily interpreted by a yes-or-no question. moogie covered it well, but if you wish to let me provide more details:

    My card goes like this:

Question 1 (Q1): Is there an instance of WB, WR, UR, UG, and/or BG in its casting cost?
If so, it costs 1 more.

Question 2 (Q2): Is there an instance of WU, WG, UB, BR, and/or RG in its casting cost?
If so, it costs 1 less.

The key here is "and/or". It implies that if a spell has more than one instance of the stated cases, the ability still triggers just once. Please refer Amphibious Kavu for example. It gets +3/+3 if blocked by a blue creature. In another case, it also gets +3/+3 if blocked by a black creature. In yet another case, if blocked by a blue AND black creature (say, Shadowmage Infiltrator, it still gets +3/+3, not +6/+6.

Now, with my card, here are some cases:

    Skyknight Legionnaire
(Q1) - Yes, there is a WR in it. +1 cost.
(Q2) - None of the combinations here. No effect.
overall effect = +1 colorless in its cost when played.

    Loxodon Hierarch
(Q1) - None of the combinations here. No effect.
(Q2) - Yes, there is a WR in it. -1 cost.
overall effect = -1 colorless in its cost when played.

    Glint-Eye Nephilim
(Q1) - Yes, there is a UR here. +1 cost. Note that it doesn't matter if there are more enemy colors, as long as we now have a 'Yes'.
    (Q2) - Same case a Q1. We found a UB. -1 cost.
overall effect = -1 colorless, +1 colorless negates each other so the cost remains the same when played.

The negating effect is quite common in Magic. For example, if there's both a Crusade and Dread of Night in play, the P/T of a Serra Angel would still be 4/4, right?

    I hope that helps.

Alacar, even if you refuse to change the score, I would really appreciate it if you can justify that 5 in balance. Are you implying that my card is average because it confused you?

@VXF, IMHO, your explanation still helps your cause because you're introducing something new to how MTG cards are worded, and you're convincing judges that it's okay to do so. I've always ventured into new things myself but I never wrote how they perfectly fit into rules because I don't want to take a chance of influencing the judges' view. Sure, I've often suffered for that but I always felt that it's their job to see how a card fits into the rules.

But yes, I realize that it's not my call and it should be up to the judges. I just wanted to check if Moss is okay with it because if it is, then maybe we all should start adding a sentence or two to our submissions. I only worry that if we do, we're giving ourselves the opportunity to be carried away. Then it might come down to ugly disagreements on where the line is between a "rules explanation" and a "card explanation".

I think we should have a more comprehensive ruling regarding that, because there are too many questions unanswered at this point (at least for me).

First, what action will a judge or Moss_Elemental take against a violation of this rule? Give a warning? Points deduction? Disqualification?

Second, how far can a note go? A contestant might type in a statement or question that could be harmless in his opinion, but could potentially give him a boost. For this one, I suggest a hard rule that says the contests submit cards and cards only, small talk should be here in the discussion thread. The small talk, of course, are also policed as contestants might try to sneak in a comment or two to help their case.

Third, the scope of how this rule is policed. When should Moss or the judges watch out for such violations? For example, the deadline is on Friday and on Monday, I post a comprehensive bulk of text supporting my card. Then before the deadline, I remove it saying, "Oooops, my bad, sorry." But then the damage had been done if my judge has read my post.

VXF is posting notes explaining his card... is this allowed? I'm not complaining, just asking for clarification, because I really feel that entries with notes provide advantage over ones without. If it's okay as part of the game, then I should go and make notes of my own.

Why, thank you and goodluck to you too. Smile My submission might not be final yet, I'm hoping I can improve on it as I see too many flaws especially in flavor.

Same here. Don't worry about it, moogie. Smile Even if Kraj reverses the judgment, I will respect it and not take it against you.

Alacar says that an Apache is not a human. Apache is the name of a particular Native American tribe. Just FYI, Alacar.

I think Alacar is referring to the art. He questioned the choice in flavor - why is it an "Apache of the Caves / Human Soldier" when the art shows something that's more of a demon.

He didn't say that an Apache is not a human, he said that Apache in the submitted card is not a human.

... since there was a good chance it would've been a holiday themed round.

I sincerely hope not. Different countries often do not celebrate some holidays together. Last month was like playing on you Americans' homecourt... challenging but might not be too healthy for the sake of competition.

Good match, moogie! With my penchant for taking risks in design, I usually get nervous when facing simple and elegant entries like what you submitted. I'm just glad the risk paid off this time --- of course, with much gratefulness to Kraj. Kraj, I also want to thank you for explaining clearly how I tumbled in Flavor. I should learn from that :).

And wow... I made it to the finals for the 4th straight month! After tumbling for 3 months in the finals, and since I'm not playing next month, I sure hope to do better this time.

    Milni-Clan Rekindler 1W
    Creature - Human Shaman
You may discard two cards rather than pay Milni-Clan Rekindler's mana cost.
When Milni-Clan Rekindler leaves play, you may play up to two white non-creature cards from your graveyard until the end of your next turn.
