Yeah you're right, I didn't see the potential until I tried it, really powerful combo. How's playing with 18 lands? I saw a lot of lists playing with 19 and I tried myself doing the same but sometimes I flood and sometimes I screw (which happens more rarely than flooding), so I didn't figured out yet what's the ideal number.

Absolutely fine honestly, I've been playing with 17 lands up until last week, but knocked it up to 18 lands and opted for 3 ruins instead of 4. The worst hand I've gotten so far is a single ramunap ruins in hand for land, but after mulligan to 6 everything rights itself. Honestly, this deck is really really easy to run with single land hands. I've won a fair few matchups with only 2 lands on the board turn 4. Burning-tree emissary too stronk - one game went mana > foundry street denizen > mana > emissary > emissary > emissary > whacker and they scooped.

posted a message on Trading sucks
I just stopped buying sealed product out and out about a year ago, and since then my trading went from weekly to once in a blue moon. The issue is when buying sealed product from new sets, 99% of the cards are worthless and nobody really wants them anyway. The only cards they want are the big bucks ones, and nobody can be bothered to make long 10-15 minute trades for bulk rares/uncommons.

If somebody walked up to me and asked for a Sin Prodder I can't be bothered to find out if it's worth more or less than $1.50, so I'd probably just ask for a goblin token in return. Trying to find something worth trading it for is just too much effort and I'm not really getting anything out of it.

There was this one time where I got paired against this new girl, after she demonstrated she clearly have a very limited understanding of the rules, I asked the judge if he could just disqualify her because she doesn't know the rules or something on the lines of that. The judge refused and said I was way to hostile towards new people and asked me to teach. I just signed the slip 2-0 for her and left and told her "I'm not going to babysit you"
In hindsight, how do you feel about this?

I have no strong opinions one way or another

I'm not sure if I'll get a warning for this, but from reading your posts and your general tone, you sound like an extremely toxic and unpleasant person/MTG player. If you had said all those things and then expressed regret, I'd have nothing to say, but you don't seem to see the issue with your behaviour. People with attitudes like yours ruin casual events like FNM, events that are pretty much in existence so new players can come and learn and play. How can a player get better at FNM if nobody helps them in their opening weeks as a new player? We don't tolerate such obnoxious players at my LGS. If its what you want to do at a GP event then fine, but I imagine most players at your LGS dislike you for it.

If you live your life with the same logic displayed here, I strongly recommend you do not have children.

Could it that the trail is untraceable in Regatha since there are pyromancers everywhere? Maybe also the heat from the volcano erases it?

I think the fight against Belzenlok and Bolas appearing will be the same chapter. Just a paragraph or two for Bolas leaving the story with a GW cliffhanger

This is a rather squishy subject. The whole aether trail thing is kind of new. Gideon was able to follow Chandra off of Kephalai in The Purifying Fire. But that was like an immediate thing. The whole thing where Jace used Gideon to target his spot on Dominaria as well as this "aether trail" thing Chandra did is rather new. I considered the possibility of more pyromancers camoflaging her but if shecan track it from basically some random spot on a plane as large as Dominaria you'd think she'd recognize it when literally face to face with her.

Garruk also did the aether tracking trick to find Liliana on Innistrad, its been used a bit in the lore but I think for plot convenience they are using it more.

It was also used by Jace to follow Baltrice through the Blind Eternities. Her spark in the BE was represented by a charred tree.

posted a message on MTG Flash Fan Fiction Thread
Morning all. Recently the official Wizards MTG Tumblr started an MTG Flash Fan Fic contest type thing, where a cue was provided (usually a random card), and participants had one week to write a short story of no more than 1,000 words. This generated a little bit of interest but never really went anywhere. The idea seemed fun so I decided to carry on. I thought it'd be nice to havea thread where people could submit their own flash fan fics of random cards of their choosing. The original contest was for Protean Raider, and you can see my submission here.

I recently did a flash fan fic based on Rigging Runner which you can read here.

So have at it if you will, a short story of 1,000 words based on any single card from any set. No time limit, just a place where we can critique one another's stories.

Definitely enjoyed this read... Liliana is one of the more interesting Characters in the Gatewatch (Along with Chandra and Jace), so she's one I'm usually interested to read about. Who's up next?

I'd like to cover the Origins five as well as the nu-Origins five as a priority, and then work towards primary antagonist planeswalkers before moving on to non-planeswalker characters we frequently return to.

The third in my little series, we take a look at Liliana in her quickly dissipating role as an Oppressor in the Drama Triangle, and pretty just how screwed she really is.

So I've decided to use to some on the side to write some psyche evals of various MTG characters in an attempt to lay bear just how broken some of our characters are psychologically and why. When writer's block hits you on a book, sometimes you just gotta keep typing. I'm not aware if this is allowed here, but I'll go ahead and post it anyway. Here's my run down of why Tezzeret went off the rails in Kaladesh.

That was the worst installment of the story yet. So many words and yet nothing of interest happened.

EDIT: Did it really need to be split from part 6? It wasn't even that long.
